Illegals-law challenge rejected By Seth McLaughlin December 1, 2007 Virginia Attorney General Robert F. McDonnell -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A federal judge yesterday threw out a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Prince William County's [Va.] new ordinance denying services to illegal aliens. Judge James C. Cacheris said during a brief hearing at U.S. District Court in Alexandria that the plaintiffs lacked standing to challenge the resolution passed earlier this year by the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. Judge Cacheris said he will issue a written ruling at a later time detailing his decision. The Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund filed the lawsuit last month on behalf of plaintiffs who included illegal aliens and the Woodbridge Workers Committee, an organization of day laborers in Prince William County. But county attorneys argued that the plaintiffs could not demonstrate they had suffered any harm under the measures, which have not been fully implemented. "This is a big win," said Corey Stewart, chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors. "This is the best shot that some of the best litigators in the country can throw at our resolution against illegal immigration. I think that is very telling." Mr. Stewart, a Republican, said the decision would encourage other localities to follow Prince William"s lead. "We think this will give hope to communities all across the country that there is something legally defensible that a locality can do to crack down on the effects of illegal immigration," Mr. Stewart said. "I think that communities all across the commonwealth are going to adopt similar resolutions cracking down on illegal immigration. And I don"t think it stops at the Virginia border. You are going to see localities across the nation adopting similar resolutions."

The leader of this effort in that community said such a ruling will make it likely that "THIS MOVEMENT WILL SPREAD TO OTHER COMMUNITIES."

I LIVE IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY AND TONIGHT MY FAMILY AND I WENT TO THE CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING. UNLIKE PRIOR YEARS FAMILIES WERE THERE. I COMMEND COREY STEWART AND THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR WHAT THEY HAVE DONE. MY NEIGHBORHOOD WHICH HAD A FEW HOUSES OF 10-20 PEOPLE ARE NOW VACANT. PLUS WE HAVE IMPLEMENTED A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH NOW AND THE POLICE FORCE IS RESPONDING TO OUR CALLS.
I AND MY FAMILY CANNOT THANK OUR BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FOR THEIR ACTIONS.
I AM SORRY I MEANT TO SAY I CANNOT THANK OUR BOARD OF SUPERVISORS ENOUGH FOR THEIR GREAT WORK IN OUR COMMUNITY FOR THEIR GREAT WORK.
You could use a nom de plum (anonymous) if you wish, too. Regardless, EXCELLENT STORY and it needs to be told in your area!! Congratulations!
I MUST POST AGAIN AS I HAVE LIVED IN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY SINCE 1972. IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS I HAVE SEEN PRINCE WILLIAM COUNTY DETEORIATE IN HOSPITAL SERVICES, CRIME RATE AND INFLUX OF ILLEGALS MULTIPY DUE TO CONSTRUCTION JOBS AND PRESIDENT BUSH
AMNESTY TALKS ON THE BORDER. WITHIN THE PAST 2 MONTHS OUR HOSPITAL IS SLOWLY RECOVERING. I SAT IN THE PRINCE WILLIAM HOSPITAL FOR 6 HOURS ONE NIGHT AS MY DAUGHTER THREW UP BLOOD WHILE WE WAITED FOR HER TO GET OMITTID. IN THE MEANTIME WE WATCHED ILLEGALS GET AMITTED WITH COLDS AND COUGH. FINALLY MY SON IN LAW WENT TO THE ADMITTANCE OFFICE AND RAISED THE ISSUE. ALSO TO LET THE POSTINGS KNOW MY CAR WAS TOTALLED BY A HIT AND RUN ILLEGAL FOUR CHRISTMAS AGO. HE WAS CHARGED WITH A HIT AND RUN AND BEING DRUNK AND WAS LET OFF WITH A 6 MONTHS SUSPENDED SENTENCE AND ALLOWED TO WORK 7 DAYS A WEEK
While I hate to say this, the states are taking it upon themselves to get rid of the illegals. They realized the cost to the taxpayer and they are doing something.
83% of counties in the US are red. If we can get more states to adopt laws against illegals maybe we can get the states to build their own fences. What is the fed going to do? Sue?
never fear....as other states/counties/municipalities vote to kick out all their illegals.....
jon corslime and the lib/dems running NJ are thinking of new taxes and new ways of selling state owned assets like the nj turnpike to support the illegals!!!
Even a lot of folks in the blue bits have had it with illegal immigration. Just ask Eliot Spitzer...

Paragraphs and Spell Check are our friends and you can probably find the Caps Lock key on the left side of your keyboard.
I guess this doesn't need to DETEORIATE any further. Sheeeeesh!
Apparently, your words and thoughts, which I appreciate, mean NOTHING. You see, you can totally lose your validity if you offend the Saturday Morning Grammar Police, which you obviously have done.
Just kidding! Keep on posting! Sometimes it’s not how you say it, but what you say! Ignore the English professor wannabe.
Why doesn't Mexico take care of its own people? Why don't the ultra-wealthy Mexican elites help to pay for the health care and education etc of their own poor? Why do they instead encourage their poor to leave Mexico and invade the United States? Nature provides a parallel that is instructive.
Some species of birds thrive not by carefully rearing their own young, but by pawning that task off on adults of other species. The European Cuckoo, whose distinctive call is immortalized in the sound of the "cuckoo clock," is the bird in which this habit has been most thoroughly studied. Female European Cuckoos lay their eggs only in the nests of other species of birds. A cuckoo egg usually closely mimics the eggs of the host (one of whose eggs is often removed by the cuckoo).
The host may recognize the intruding egg and abandon the nest, or it may incubate and hatch the cuckoo egg. Shortly after hatching, the young European Cuckoo, using a scoop-like depression on its back, instinctively shoves over the edge of the nest any solid object that it contacts. With the disappearance of their eggs and rightful young, the foster parents are free to devote all of their care to the young cuckoo. Frequently this is an awesome task, since the cuckoo chick often grows much larger than the host adults long before it can care for itself. One of the tragicomic scenes in nature is a pair of small foster parents working like Sisyphus to keep up with the voracious appetite of an outsized young cuckoo.

I know exactly how you feel. Born in Va, raised in MD, high school in Rockville and College at UM. I miss the area beyond belief.
No place on earth is more gorgeous then the Shenandoah Valley during fall.
