Stories Clinton Mocks Obama's Global Experience On Economy, Clinton Claims Experience

(CBS) With the Iowa caucus just over a month away, CBS News anchor Katie Couric sat down for an exclusive interview with Democratic frontrunner Sen. Hillary Clinton.

She’s the woman on everyone’s mind right now. But polls in Iowa are showing the race could shape up to be very close. Couric asked Clinton if she’s lowering her expectations as the primary approaches.

“I never raised them, you know when I got into race at the beginning of the year. I wasn't even in double-digits. I was so far behind in Iowa, it was embarrassing,” Clinton said.

Her campaign instead is “encouraged” she said, because “we're making progress - but I take nothing for granted, this is going to be a tight race.”

"I think everybody should just take a deep breath and say 'let's just go to the finish line,' which will be probably be midnight West Coast time on Feb. 5," she said.

Couric asked Clinton: “Many of Barack Obama’s supporters were urging him to be more aggressive and to fight back a little more when it came to your candidacy. It seems as if in recent days you've returned the favor; you've taken off the gloves a bit. And some people are interpreting that as your campaign being pretty nervous...”

“That's not the case at all. Campaigns have rhythm. And we're now down to end. We're going to have a mad dash to Iowa caucuses, turn around and have a mad dash to New Hampshire and then keep going,” she said.

Has the Clinton campaign gotten more aggressive?

“It's time. I have absorbed a lot of attacks for several months now - my opponents have basically had a free rein,” she said. "After you've been attacked as often as I have from several of my opponents, you can't just absorb it, you have to respond.

"But a lot of the attacks have been quite persistent, shall we say," she said. "Hardly a day goes by when I'm not attacked."

Clinton said she wants voters to know how her plans - particularly health care - stack up against those of other candidates.

“I figure it’s about time now for me to draw contrasts, which I think are pretty important to voters,” she said. “And that’s what I’m going to do.”

She distinguished Obama’s plan from those of her Democratic opponents.

"All of us except Sen. Obama have universal health care ..." Clinton said. "I want people to know that."

It was announced Monday that Oprah Winfrey would be campaigning with Obama in three key states. "How do you feel about that?" Couric asked.

“I think it's great ... I'm proud to have a lot of very distinguished Americans [supporting me],” Clinton said.

Is she concerned Obama will get a major boost from Winfrey’s enthusiastic fan base?

“No,” Clinton said. “At the end of the day, it's among us as candidates. People will make their judgments. I’m proud to have my husband support me. It's wonderful to have someone with his knowledge and experience and incredible ability vouch for me campaign for me.”

"If it's not you, how disappointed will you be?" Couric asked.

“Well, it will be me,” she said.

But she said she would stand behind any other Democratic nominee, if it came to that. “We're going to have unified party, behind whoever we nominate.”

Clearly, she has considered the possibility she won't be the nominee?

"No, I haven't," Clinton said.

Hillary is like a whole season of American Idol contestants, rolled into one. Nobody else need apply. She came to audition and by golly, she deserves it. She’s paid her dues. She was a girl friend of the winner two seasons ago.

In Hillary’s adult life, she really hasn’t accomplished anything on her own. She became a partner at the Rose Law firm because her husband was the Attorney General or Governor.

She never really handled any serious cases during her tenure there. She shuffled papers and handled some minor duties.

Then she made a governor’s and president’s wife into a full time job. She actually proclaimed herself to be a co-president. Everyone was embarassed for her, but Hillary was too stupid to realize what an unqualified userper she had become.

Once leaving the White House, she obtained an address in New York and was “given” the Senate seat from that state. What did she actually do in her life to qualify for that office? Well nothing more than hang out really. She hung out at the White House and claimed to be co-president.

That should qualify you for something, but that would be more like a straight-jacket rather than U.S. Senator.

Hillary is an embarassment to the U.S. Senate. She hasn’t proposed any new legislation. She hasn’t accomplished a dang thing except to curry more government programs or funding for the state. There’s a high ideal, increasing the expenditures of the federal government to grease the skids for her upcoming charity drive to obtain the White House for herself.

Hillary is essentially a fraud.

"Hillary is essentially a fraud"

She is and has been her wholelife.

Wehad plentyof warning. Her supervisor in the Watergate hearings found her so untrustworthy that he wrote a memorandum recommending that she should never be considered for a position of trust in government.

"If she becomes the first woman president, it will be the latest in a lifetime of firsts"

Other than being the 'First Witch' as First Lady, what other 'firsts' did she ever accomplish?

Why is it that 'everyone' should take a deep breath only when the *Crintons are in trouble?

Didn't watch it, but....

Did she 'phone' it in [video feed] like she did that morning she made all the Sunday morning news talkies, or was she at the studio in person?

The main reason she goes to Couric is for a 'friendly' venue, and Oprah has made it known O is supporting Ears Osama rather than Hillary.

“I’m proud to have my husband support me. It’s wonderful to have someone with his knowledge and experience and incredible ability vouch for me campaign for me.”

Like... his unparalleled ability to lie with a straight face?

FDR - “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”

JFK - “Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country.”

BJC - “I did not have sex with that woman...”

Our national soap opera, “Clinton’s Lies”, continues.

 LOL

Hello.  My name is like Heatherrrrrr, and I'd like my picture taken with a rapist.

If you could find one who had beaten his victims it would be so much more cool.

If you could find one that had bitten one of them that woud be amazing.

If you could find one whose wife had hired private dectectives to scare those
women out of testifying, that would be really really the greatest.  And if that
private detective had killed small animals too, like wow, that would be so great.

Like thank you.  I never thought I'd be so lucky...

Thanks ImpBill. I feel a little guilty with that one. It was like throwing up the U.S. flag to get applause...

I wasn’t likely to get any dissent on that one. LOL

It is true.

She and fellow rat Bernie Nussbaum (remember him?) served as staff attorneys during the Watergate hearings. She was charged with researching precedent for impeachment process and she and Nussbaum wrote a brief that was completely skewed in an effort to deny Nixon a right to defense counsel.

Their supervisor, an admitted left winger wrote about his experiences in the hearings, recited in detail the circumstances above along with the fact that he wrotea memorandum for the record suggesting that she never be considered for a position of trust in government.

Also when she was head of the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) in the Carter Administration she abused her position to the point that the GAO recommended to the incoming Reagan administration that a full investigation be conducted into her activities.

Shehas a trail of this stuff going all of the way back to the beginning.

For further information, I suggest that you consult the extensive and quality files of Backhoe.

Thanks Jimmy. Yes, I should read those files. For instance, I didn’t realize she had worked for the LSC under the Carter administration. And that GAO recommendation needs to be outed by the RP on a broad scale.
