America hates Hillary Clinton and Co
Telegraph (UK) ^ | November 24, 2007 | Toby Harnden

Posted on 11/24/2007 12:47:57 AM PST by Zakeet

They call it flyover country. These are the parts of the United States that the pundits and prognosticators of American politics see just occasionally - and usually from several thousand feet. It is a land where people shop at Wal-Mart, eat at Dairy Queen, work two jobs to make ends meet and have a Bible at home. They can decide on their vote with the help of talk radio, cable television and the internet - or from a combination of rumour, scraps of hard information and gut feeling.

[Snip]

It is in flyover country where the 2008 presidential election will be won and lost.

[Snip]

So is Hillary Clinton the "polarising" figure we hear so much of in the media? Can only a Democrat win in 2008? Is America ready to elect its first female or black president? Has the letdown of the Bush years left the average Joe Schmoe yearning for the Clintons?

With a year to go before the country votes for its 44th president, The Daily Telegraph embarked on its "Crossing America" project to find out. The answers that Julian Simmonds, photographer and videographer, and I got were often surprising. They provide little comfort for Mrs Clinton but not much more for any other politician.

[Snip]

Mrs Clinton might be the frontrunner in the polls, but almost everywhere we went people questioned her candidacy. Many stated bluntly that they did not want a woman in charge.

[Snip]

A Vietnam veteran in Arizona and a Florida gun-shop owner were among those who made crude jokes about America "going to war every 30 days" under a female president. We never brought up Bill Clinton's sexual dalliances, but many ordinary Americans did. "She couldn't keep her own home together, so how can we trust her to manage America?"

There are other interesting observations made by this British journalist in this article. For example:

"Beyond the coasts and outside the college towns, Obamamania was difficult to find. His lofty, professorial manner has made it difficult for him to connect with ordinary Americans and he could well go the way of earlier "outsider" Democrats running on a platform of change, including Gary Hart, Paul Tsongas and Bill Bradley. Obama's lack of experience was a staple of conversations about him."

"If there was a single message from Americans everywhere, however, it was that they cannot stand politicians. 'They all lie all the time,' stated the Hertz attendant at the airport in Wichita, Kansas.

Interesting prospective on the election not found in the American MSM.

Worth a read, in my opinion.

It was an open marriage. A poltical partnership that secured them from ever having to testify against one another.

Like the Frenchman says. An affair is not scandalous. Getting CAUGHT...

We are told that any unansweres scandals are “old news” but 40 year old DWI charges and forged documents “proving” a sitting president was AWOL are “credible” news (when the DNC coordinates WITH news editors in September)...

...and have a Bible at home.

Is this really the difference? Just having a Bible?

Exactly. NOT FOUND in the drive-by media, who always gets itself slapped around by primary voters.

No, but it's a start.

No, but it's a start.

I suppose I should consider some sort of barrier method of protection lest my Bible lead to trouble.

How many times do we have to say this? Will you (the MSM et al) please listen this time?

It is not about voting for a woman. We're not even sure Hitlary is a woman.

WE DO NOT WANT HITLARY CLINTON (MRS. BILL) BACK IN THE WHITE HOUSE. IT HAS EVERYTHING TO DO WITH HER, AND NOTHING TO DO WITH HER SEX.

The title of the article, "America Hates Clinton and Co," is exciting (and hopefully accurate), but this Brit should have run into more Americans who dislike her for more substantive reasons than gender. After all, it was the same Telegraph whose Ambrose Evans-Pritchard did superb work in exposing the Vince Foster death as something other than a "suicide" back in the '90s. Given that Foster was HRC's former law partner and likely paramour, and given that no reasonably objective government investigation into the case has yet to occur, the implications of HRC's involvement in the crime should be there for all to see. And that case, though extremely serious, is only one of many in Hitlery's career of criminality!

The Daily Telegraph embarked on its "Crossing America" project to find out.

They sound like the elite Europeans that first landed in the Dark Continent...

...the Joe Schmoe tribesmen had Bibles...

...and then deep in the bush we came across a gun-shop owner who made a crude joke...

...combination of rumour, scraps of hard information and gut feeling as well as drumbeats across hilltops.

Of course, not. This is Euro-patronizing of what used to be Middle America. They just suspect those of us in Flyover Country have (oh, how gloriously native! How deliciously frontier primative! How, "John Wayne.")

(It is, of course, the reading of that Bible, the actual search for answers and love of one's neighbor and, most tellingly, the love of this "spunky 4,000 year old myth," this love of "the God (and Friend of Abraham and) "the Father of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ" that is "really the difference." They're so close to the heart of the issue, what kept Britain appart from Eurabia for so long... the meaning of "ye are the Salt of the Earth," and the remainder of that passage that spells the difference. "May we never have lost our savor, useful for nothing better than being trodden under foot by men."

While we found many people who hated Mrs Clinton, those who loved her were few and far between.

U.S. headlines next week: HRC changes her campaign theme song to "What's Love Got To Do With It?"

"She couldn't keep her own home together, so how can we trust her to manage America?"

Which is why women won't support her as much as the media hopes. How can Hillary lead a country when she can even manage her husband?

Yes, but the European writer at least made an attempt at an anthropological study of the "natives".

The American MSM (and many in the DC elite) just refers to the "natives" in flyover country as right-wing extremists and racists and dismisses them as savages unfit for civilized society. The Constitution is viewed as a quaint document written by ancient people under the influence of that evil drug "tobacco".

A poltical partnership that secured them from ever having to testify against one another.

That is the real reason they put up with each other and the one that should be repeated far and wide. Once said it is plain as day and it exposes them for the sleaze they are.

I watched a short bit of a Jeff Foxworthy (and company) show last night. He had a oneliner that went like this:

I believe...if you can’t say something nice about somebody....you must be talking about Hillary Clinton.

Now there's a name I hold in high esteem.

From long ago, I started this old post with him in mind, but leads I ran across took me to strange, and far away shores:

A Whiff of Rot & Corruption

Amen to that. That's how my family and I feel and we really resent having to support such things with our tax money. I think we should bulldoze Wash. DC into the Potomac and start over.
