United in Purpose - The Citizens Response to Illegal Immigration
November 13, 2007 | Chuck Plante - aka backtothestreets

Posted on 11/13/2007 9:26:18 PM PST by backtothestreets

In response to an email plea to scores of organizations strongly opposed to illegal immigration, and the presence of illegal immigrants in our nation, asking these organizations to pool their resources and take our grievances to Congress, many responded.

The suggested strategy was simple. Have a single nationwide petition campaign, with all petitions written exactly the same. Have a nationwide day when Citizens will assemble peaceably at district offices of all members of the House of Representatives. Present the petitions of grievances to the Representative, or duly appointed staff member for a redress of grievances.

All response were positive. Most bore a request of me. Give them a way that all organizations and Citizens could work together to make it happen. I have given it my best, and will continue to improve upon it with the help of many others.

I created a new site, NOT A NEW ORGANIZATION, that is intended to allow all existing organizations to retain their autonomous stature, remain self-governing, plan and coordinate within the Congressional Districts where they are most active, and without interference from Citizens or organizations outside their Congressional Districts.

The new site, UNITED IN PURPOSE, will eventually be directed by a committee derived from the participants within the site.  I may, or may not, remain the administer.  The decision will be made by committee.

A draft petition will be developed by a petition committee, be proposed, and if accepted, established as the petition for use in all Congressional Districts.  The Petition will cite specific grievances, with specific remedies, and establish dates new laws effecting the remedies are to be accomplished by.

Members of the House of Representatives are to be the recipients of the petitions as this chamber of Congress IS TO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE!  A similar effect will be made when the House bills reach the Senate as the Seventeenth Amendment provided for that chamber of Congress to ALSO REPRESENT THE PEOPLE!

An example of petition:

We the undersigned, Citizens of the United States of America, residing in the ____________ _____ Congressional District of the State of ____________ _____ , do object to illegal immigration and demand the government secure our national borders, deport all illegal immigrants, give priority to new immigrants seeking to enter our country legally, immediately stop all government funding of programs that benefit illegal immigrants, enforce existing immigration laws, declare only children born of a US citizen having birthright citizenship under the Fourteenth Amendment.
Name (Printed)                         Signature                                              Address

Two organizations have suggestion the petition include a provision should President Bush refuse the sign the bills into law.

If the President refuses to sign the bills into law, a provision of the petition will demand the House immediately shall immediately impeach the President, and the Senate try the impeachment.

The example does not specify the grievances, and they are many to cite, violent crime, identity theft, corruption, forgery, foreign paramilitary organizations operating and recruiting within the USA, increased vehicular deaths caused by illegal immigrants, closures of emergency rooms due to non-paying illegal immigrants, increased health insurance costs, government funded welfare programs for illegal immigrants, government funded education for illegal immigrants, and so on.

All this is to take place well before the 2008 General Elections so every Citizen within every Congressional District can be informed if their Representative represents the people legally within their district, or not.

No target for participation has been established.  It would be good to have thirty million Citizens, by a combination of petition signers and Citizens rallying at district offices of the members of the House of Representatives on the nationwide day established for this purpose.

In addition to allowing Citizens to exercise under the First Amendment "the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances"; AND to know now if we still have government by and for the people!

If you want to join in now, simply visit the new site, register, sign-in, locate you Congressional District board, click on it, and post a message making your presence known with that district.

More details are available on the site.  I could use a heap of help if you are willing to lend some time and effort.  I've been absolutely swamped for two weeks now, but not complaining!

That’s a really great idea. Much more doable than a march on DC or something. Thanks for not being a power freak about it either- so many great causes are aborted when the visionary tries to turn it into a new job for himself.

This deserves to be pinged around FR.

I am so there.

Additionally, I have some suggested immigration reform law text for anyone who is interested.

Please do PING & PING & PING again!

I might be among the biggest power freaks. Not power for me, but a return of power of people over our government.

I brought nothing into this world, and I’ve no need to pack suitcases for the trip out, but if possible I will do what I can to leave something good behind for other generations.

I am committed to making this work, whatever my capacity, so Citizens will forever more have another means of exerting their Constitutional control over government when government tries to exert an unconstitutional control of the Citizens.

The government made this fight. The Citizens must end it. Then Citizens and government will enjoy domestic tranquility, until government brings the next fight.

PING ON!

Cool Beans! I’m interested! Let’s form an ad hoc committee for immigration reform law. You and I comprise the committee at the moment, and I’ll step aside as others come on.

Please read about this....sounds like an effective way to let those in congress know our position....glad to see this isn't a proposed INTERNET petition which would be ignored (I'm sure). A "real" petition to be signed and circulated in our neighborhoods and given to people in our congressional districts.....

PING!!

OK, here goes:

My Idea of Comprehensive Immigration Reform:

1. Illegal aliens are to be detained upon detection and deported within twenty-four hours.

2. Any citizen knowingly employing, sheltering, concealing, or otherwise assisting (other than emergency medical care) an illegal alien shall suffer forfeiture of all property, real and personal, all assets, businesses, business licenses, and any other thing except his/her physical freedom and two changes of clothing; after which he/she may seek employment and start over.

3. Any non-citizen legally resident, acting as described in para 2 above, shall suffer the same penalty and be deported to his/her country of origin within 48 hours.

4. Any public official, in any branch of government, at any level, who under color of clemency, legal discretion, or other official privilege, shall obstruct, alter, or modify the swift application and extent of paras 1-3 above to any degree soever, shall suffer the same penalty and be summarily removed from office.

(That’s to keep judges from saying “ooooo, that’s too harsh” and governors etc. from handing out pardons to business-owner buddies.)

Here’s my list: (posted on my home page)

My plan to solve the border problem:

1 end the anchor baby policy

2 end welfare benefits for non-citizens

3 end subsidized health care and public education for non-citizens

4 swift and harsh jailtime for employers of illegals, plus seizure of assets

5 build a 1951 mile wall from the Pacific to the Gulf

6 allow non-citizens to cross into Mexico with impunity

7 Pass the FairTax

8 overthrow the current Mexican regime and install a non-corrupt, capitalistic government

I would add one more item to your list:

No non-citizen should ever be permitted to bring a lawsuit against a citizen.

(thanks for the ping!)
