...Of course, television doesn't always tell the whole story. The average American is 36 times more likely to die from heart disease than be murdered, six times more likely to die in an accident and four times more likely to die from Alzheimer's disease, according to data compiled by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Health Statistics.
But homicide does result in many thousands of deaths every year. And a comparison of the 72 American cities with a population over 250,000, using data from the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Uniform Crime Reporting Program, reveals that some places are definitely more murderous...
The ten most murderous cities are discussed in detail but for the record they are:
Surprisingly, the country's biggest cities aren't usually the most dangerous. Out of the 10 most murderous cities in America, only one, Philadelphia, has a population over 1 million. And America's biggest metro, New York City, is also one of its safest; with a murder rate of 7.3 per 100,000 people, it comes in at No. 50 on a list of the 72 American cities with a population over 250,000

In fact MSM functionaries will express their puzzlement that “even though the crime rate has gone down the prison population has risen,” in almost exactly these words.
Criminals have to live somewhere. Generally they tend to concentrate in areas where they can exist with others of like mind, and where their operations are tolerated.
Yep, I did get that wrong!
Ain’t that the truth; totally baffled.
Agreed. I think this is based on rate of murder, not numbers of murders. It is likelihood of being murdered, based upon population size.
Factor out a criminal background or close association and these figures drop through the floorboards for the vast majority of folks. Dave & Sue from the burbs or any other middle-American families have little to nothing to fear from what amounts to RATs (or RAT material) killing RATs.
Of course, crime stats in the mouths of bloviating media swine are handy tools for driving the lemming herds.
That's a big fudge factor in D.C.'s rankings as well.
I had almost given up. I almost ran out of comments and then the truth was revealed. Almost all of the cities mentioned have a majority population of Amish and they are all democrats
all
Could it be 40 yrs of liberal government turning a blind eye to........liberalism?

I am gonna guess..Philadelphia, the city of brotherly love.
I would put DC in at the top as well.
Maybe Trenton NJ?
Shocked that Memphis isn’t in the top 10.
Will the MSM ever put down the crack pipe?
Hmmmm could be.
Baltimore and Washington DC are run by African American Democrats...
1 - Detroit
2 - Baltimore
3 - New Orleans
4 - Newark
5 - St. Louis
6 - Oakland
7 - Washington, DC
8 - Cincinnati
9 - Philadelphia
10 - Buffalo
We have maybe upwards of 38.0M illegals now - how does that number fit into the mix? If the number is too high a percentage for that city and might reflect poorly, does somebody say, “Oh yeah, we have to increase the population by X which is close to the number of illegals ‘they’ say we have” so that drives the % of crimes down??
Interesting that only one (N.O.) is a southern city. I wonder how they break down in terms of legalized concealed carry? Seems like way back before Concealed Carry (BCC?) Dallas was prominent on this list.
