Agreed, don’t mess with Texas.
But I don’t think the beloved King Of Spain got the message, nor our Federal Highway Administration:
“The Federal Highway Administration has threatened Texas with the loss of federal highway funds if the state continues with its legislative plan for a two-year funding moratorium on construction of the Trans-Texas Corridor.”

A lot of other bits and bytes have gone into the discussion:

I am not blanketly opposed to trade agreements with our two top supplies of oil, but until Canada tires of socialism and Mexico its drug thugs - forgetaboutit.
Ah, my bad. I didn’t mean to imply that none of the soldiers in the colonial army were Spaniards, just as you wouldn’t want to claim that none of them were Muslims.

Franco imported Muslim Moroccan troops to fight for him, and were some of their most cruel troops.
Franco was an absolutist dictator, guilty of serious war crimes and decades of oppression in Span.
Later in the war he was fighting a bunch of Communist and looney-tunes anarchists also guilty of serious war crimes, that most likely would have installed a Soviet-backed government that would have been more opressive than Franco's dictatorship.
Doesn't make Franco a hero. There were no "Good Guys" in the Spanish Civil War, other than some of the early moderate Republicans that were quickly overwhelmed by the fanatics and nutcases on the Republican side.
People want to portray ALL current and past conflicts as pure good/pure evil. World doesn't work that way. There are indeeds shades of gray.
Probably converts from the 15th century when there was great pressure to convert.
They kicked out the Jews, but fawn all over the Moslems who bombed their train station. Like Germany, they have come to regret their prior acts, but not enough to really make a difference. Many of the Lefists in Spain, as here, are pro Islamofascists and anti-Jewish, anti-Israeli. They are a bunch of fools. They destroyed their best citizens.
It’s good to be the king!
Constitution, doncha know?
Wouldn't have to be a treaty...just an Executive Order stating that JFK during his administration would make no future attempts as CIC. Doc in and of itself would be an embarrassment that no Prez would want public b/c it would induce future type misbehavior by other rogue nations.
Yes. Just theory. But if you've got any better ideas as to why no GOP President (incl. Reagan) swatted the Castro gnat, I'm open to hearing it.
You are wrong. My expertise is on Spanish history. The Spaniards continued to romanticize the Moslems. it shows in their literature - and the Moslems WERE NOT EXPELLED IN 1492 - NOT EXPELLED IN 1492. There was a battle with the Moriscos under Philip III and some of them were exiled but many stayed. AND THE INQUISITION DID NOT MOVE AGAINST THE MOSLEMS.
You are as wrong as the day is long. You need to read Benzion Netanyahu among others. Furthermore, many Spaniards aer now converting to Islam and even want the Cordoba mosque to return to ACTIVE PRACTICE.
Is he trying to say “I demand respect?”
Chavez, from what I gather of the meeting, is interrupting the protocol of the forum; thus, he believes that the rules don’t apply in his case. His words are extremely insulting. These tactics neither worked for mankind when Nazi’s interrupted Germany Democracy, nor did it help Russians or the global community when Nikita pounded the UN’s table in 1960:
Respectfully agree to disagree on Franco.
alas...

Hooah, king. I wish Bush would have said that a long time ago. Some one needs to put that pig Chavez in his place.
