Here is a link to the video. Zapatero held a press conference afterward and ripped Chavez a new one, which I just watched on Univision. This was their lead story tonight. It was wonderful. I read the Spanish newspapers and magazines and from what I saw after that shameful episode, Don Juan Carlos was really NOT a happy camper, and made it clear to the new government, but since Spain is a democracy, he could not interfere. Go back and read about the events of 1981 and tell me the King is not a great man.
I don’t argue that Juan Carlos isn’t a good man. I simply acknowledge the fact he is a powerless monarch of a nation that has willingly surrendered to the Caliphate.
I am sure on such occasions the ghost of El Cid comes back to haunt El Rey. Sometimes I have fantasies of how Franco would be dealing with the Muslims in Spain if he were still alive. It would be a very different story.
