Surrounded by RINOs: RINOs to the Left of me and RINOs to the Right of me
FreeRepublic and others (links provided) | 11.07.07 | FreeRepublic and others

RINOs have infested the GOP, and for that matter FreeRepublic. I am sure that there is a certain level of RINO infestation that can be lived with, but our “Institutions” are being over-run by these vermin.

The polls that show up on the bottom of the FreeRepublic page consistently show too much support for RINOs, and this is just unacceptable. I mean – how can it be that RINOs like McCain, Romney, Ron Paul and Giuliani (among others) get so much Freeper support. I am not sure what we can, or should, do to eliminate this problem, but there has to be some sort of ultimate solution.

It seems like a consensus has emerged here that many here seem to agree with, and it goes something like: "There is no difference between [insert liberal Democrat Name here] and [insert RINO Name here], so it will do the GOP and “Conservatism” a great service to NOT support the RINO and let the LIBERALs have the election. I mean, there’s no difference between them, and it will help the conservative movement, by showing how Liberalism and RINOism will destroy America."

Maybe for a start…..I might suggest that there be a grand list of RINOs that deserve NO support – and that those on the list be “PURGED” in one fashion or another. I am trying to provide links to support my charges of RINO status.

Pat Robinson ...... McCain ....... Romney

Ron Paul...... Senator Coleman (MN)...... Senator Kit Bond (MO)

Giuliani ....... Mike Huckabee ..... Sen. George V. Voinovich

Sen. Collins ...... Senator Snowe ...... Sen. Hagel

Sen. John W. Warner ...... Senator Hatch (UT)..... Senator Lott (MS)

Senator Specter (PA) ..... Arnold Schwarzenegger ..... Senator Graham (SC)

Senator Lugar (IN) ...... Senator Kyl (AZ) ..... Senator Martinez (FL) ......

Fred Thompson

I am sure I could make this list hugely BIG – like probably 10X this big ..... but I think I should let other FRepers join in so we can purge those RINO’s for good!

My thought exactly. It’s amazing the level the DH supporters will stoop to, isn’t it? I thought about hitting the abuse button, but it’s too much fun to read the replies.

I agree with everything you said, except Hunter as Vice President. I'd rather see him as Secretary of Defense with the power to really take the fight to our enemies, rather than sitting in a useless job. Let him be Veep during the second Thompson term, by that point, we may well have vanquished our enemies, and Thompson's age/health will be an issue.

So, who do we get to be Vice President during Thompson's first term? Dick Cheney, of course! It will make moonbat heads explode! :)

Defining some of these guys as RINOs reminds me of that old definition for "zealot".

A "zealot" is someone who does what God would do if God had all the facts.

Defining a RINO is someone who doesn't agree with a conservative zealot (and not necessarily with a conservative in general) means a large Crash of RINOs in the offing.

Yep, the Republican Party has been moving to the left for years now.

Since theres nothing wrong with the Conservative agenda and name calling doesn't seem to be attracting voters. It must either be a conspiracy within the Republican party or an evil plot orchestrated by the democrats.

Are you talking about a strategy vote where they decide what the final bill will look like? Here is the final roll call

Your Thompson was part of this crowd in the Senate: Democrats voting no: Breaux (D-LA), Nelson (D-NE)
Republicans voting yes: Chafee (R-RI), Cochran (R-MS), Collins (R-ME), Domenici (R-NM), Fitzgerald (R-IL),

In fact he was a co-sponsor of the legislation.

Legislative History: On 22 January 2001, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) introduced S.27 (LOC). Eventually, the bill would have 41 sponsors:

Sen Feingold, Russell D. [WI] - 1/22/2001
Sen Cochran, Thad [MS] - 1/22/2001
Sen Levin, Carl [MI] - 1/22/2001
Sen Thompson, Fred [TN] - 1/22/2001
Sen Lieberman, Joseph I. [CT] - 1/22/2001
Sen Collins, Susan M. [ME] - 1/22/2001
Sen Schumer, Charles E. [NY] - 1/22/2001
Sen Snowe, Olympia J. [ME] - 1/22/2001
Sen Wellstone, Paul D. [MN] - 1/22/2001
Sen Jeffords, James M. [VT] - 1/22/2001
Sen Reed, Jack [RI] - 1/22/2001
Sen Durbin, Richard [IL] - 1/22/2001
Sen Wyden, Ron [OR] - 1/22/2001
Sen Kohl, Herb [WI] - 1/22/2001
Sen Boxer, Barbara [CA] - 1/22/2001
Sen Harkin, Tom [IA] - 1/22/2001
Sen Stabenow, Debbie [MI] - 1/22/2001
Sen Cantwell, Maria [WA] - 1/22/2001
Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] - 1/22/2001
Sen Dayton, Mark [MN] - 1/22/2001
Sen Corzine, Jon S. [NJ] - 1/22/2001
Sen Cleland, Max [GA] - 1/23/2001
Sen Nelson, Bill [FL] - 1/23/2001
Sen Mikulski, Barbara A. [MD] - 1/24/2001
Sen Carper, Thomas R. [DE] - 1/24/2001
Sen Feinstein, Dianne [CA] - 1/24/2001
Sen Lincoln, Blanche L. [AR] - 1/25/2001
Sen Carnahan, Jean [MO] - 1/30/2001
Sen Bingaman, Jeff [NM] - 1/30/2001
Sen Bayh, Evan [IN] - 1/30/2001
Sen Johnson, Tim [SD] - 2/8/2001
Sen Leahy, Patrick J. [VT] - 2/8/2001
Sen Sarbanes, Paul S. [MD] - 2/8/2001
Sen Reid, Harry [NV] - 2/8/2001
Sen Miller, Zell [GA] - 2/27/2001
Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY] - 2/27/2001
Sen Edwards, John [NC] - 3/8/2001
Sen Dorgan, Byron L. [ND] - 3/14/2001
Sen Landrieu, Mary L. [LA] - 3/14/2001
Sen Graham, Bob [FL] - 3/15/2001
Sen Dodd, Christopher J. [CT] - 3/30/2001

Thanks for reminding me of just what a significant roll Thompson played in getting Campaign Finance Reform passed.

It would help if solid conservatives would challenge lifer RINOs in primaries rather than just rubber stamping the re-election because of the fear of going up a giant war chest. It can be done. 2008 and 2010 will be the years to try.

Nope, HR513 from 109th, it looks like the one you posted is HR2356 from the 108th.

http://www.theorator.com/bills109/hr513.html

Another one of the CFR bills that looked good at the time, and instead just gave more power to MoveOn and other 527s. Either way, as I said, Thompson was wrong to support it, but it doesn't change his overall Conservative record.

So let’s unite under Hunter, who has an extensive history in Congress to stand on?

Here is the roll call of the bill you mentioned. Notice how reversed it is to the original supporters of the CFR? That's because it was just an effort to keep everyone playing by the same awful rules. No way has Hunter ever supported Campaign Finance Reform -- neither have most Republicans.

Because the ‘lets’ in ‘lets unite’ if you are talking about the audience here may move Hunter up from 1% to 1.1%
