:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
U.S. to Offer Turkey Help on PKK

The U.S. is to offer Turkey a package of measures to dissuade Ankara from mounting a large-scale military incursion into Iraq to attack PKK Kurdish guerrillas, who have killed scores of Turkish soldiers in recent weeks.

Ahead of a meeting in Washington on Monday between President George W. Bush and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister, U.S. officials said Ankara would have to get concrete American help to combat the PKK, which has bases in northern Iraq from where it frequently launches attacks into Turkey.

“Erdogan has to go back with the belief that for whatever reason, the U.S. is serious” about tackling Turkey’s concerns regarding the PKK, said Matthew Bryza, deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. state department responsible for Turkey policy. Full story...

I just read the entire story at the pajamasmedia link you provided. That is one frightening incident and apparently the FBI sees no problem with no explanation or apology to that man. Wow! I wonder what happened with the individual that caused the problems in the first place.

New tape threatens attacks on Austria, Germany
11-20-2007

A new videotape on which Islamist militants threaten to attack Germany and Austria if they do not pull their troops out of Afghanistan was broadcast on Austrian television Tuesday evening.

The German and Austrian interior ministries confirmed the existence of the tape, which also demanded Austria release two people arrested over a similar threatening video issued in March. In the video, aired by Austrian television ORF2, the militants identified themselves as the Globale Islamistische Medienfront or GIMF (Global Islamist Media Front).

Austrian interior ministry spokesman Rudolf Gollia said the ministry had received the video, which lasts about four minutes, several days ago and described it as "an abstract threat". "We're taking it seriously. But it does not alter the security situation" in Austria, he said.

"We can't say where the video originated. We're in the process of analysing that with our colleagues" at the German domestic intelligence service, he added. A German interior ministry spokesman said in Berlin that the video was "currently being evaluated by our experts. Until then, we're not saying anything about its content". In the video, a disguised voice can be heard saying that "Germany and Austria should take the threat seriously because we are not going to let it remain a simple threat."

NYPD bomb squad on the scene
November 20, 2007

New York - Eyewitness News has learned that a suspect was shot and killed by an ATF agent after trying to sell grenades to ATF operatives. It happened in the Mott Haven section of the Bronx Tuesday night.

The suspect, during the undercover buy, mentioned he had a grenade in the car, according to sources. ATF agents then tried to stop the car. When the suspect refused, he reportedly drove away and wound up hitting and dragging an ATF agent. Sources tell us the suspect was shot and later died at the scene. The agent who was dragged is at Columbia Presbyterian in stable condition. The NYPD Bomb Squad is on the scene.

Airline passengers unscreened for Las Vegas flight

Serious Security Questions at Sky Harbor Airport
Three times a week, you can board a flight to Las Vegas from the Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in the East Valley.

But unlike at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, our cameras found that on more than one occasion, you’ll never pass through a metal detector or undergo any security screening at all. (snip)

“FBI: Incident on Flight to RDU Posed No Threat”

Posted: Sep. 21, 2007
Updated: Sep. 22, 2007

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “MORRISVILLE — The FBI early Saturday said a misunderstanding apparently sparked an incident on a flight from Florida that Raleigh-Durham International Airport officials initially classified as a possible terrorist incident.

FBI agents determined that a “misperception” caused the alert and said there was never any threat to passengers or crew members.”

Special Dispatch Series - No. 1772
November 21, 2007 No.1772

“The ‘Lone Wolf’ Theory and John Allen Muhammad”

SNIPPET: “The Islamist website www.ek-ls.org, hosted by NOC4Hosts Inc., Tampa, FL, USA, published, on November 19, 2007, a proposal by regular forum participant “Jihadi Salafi” on Al-Qaeda’s possible use of a “lone wolf” operative in the U.S. and/or the West. [1]

Following are excerpts from the item:

“What Frightens [the FBI] and Deprives Them of Sleep at Night and Peace During the Day is... the Lone Wolves of Al-Qaeda”

“Everyone knows about members of dormant cells who roam the foreign land under various guises... However, it isn’t this that worries the Federal [Bureau of] Investigations... What frightens them and deprives them of sleep at night and peace during the day is... the lone wolves of Al-Qaeda.

“Everyone knows that a person who is perfectly trained, skilled, and experienced can easily move around on his own, being under less of a danger than [if he were working] as part of a cell... Indeed, a mistake of one of the cell members can destroy the entire cell... [while a lone wolf] need never worry about treason or infiltration...”
