U.S. to Offer Turkey Help on PKK

The U.S. is to offer Turkey a package of measures to dissuade Ankara from mounting a large-scale military incursion into Iraq to attack PKK Kurdish guerrillas, who have killed scores of Turkish soldiers in recent weeks.

Ahead of a meeting in Washington on Monday between President George W. Bush and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister, U.S. officials said Ankara would have to get concrete American help to combat the PKK, which has bases in northern Iraq from where it frequently launches attacks into Turkey.

“Erdogan has to go back with the belief that for whatever reason, the U.S. is serious” about tackling Turkey’s concerns regarding the PKK, said Matthew Bryza, deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. state department responsible for Turkey policy. Full story...

SNIPPET: “MOGADISHU, Nov 15 (Reuters) - A Somali Islamist commander, thought to be al Qaeda’s man in Mogadishu, has ordered his fighters to attack African Union (AU) peacekeepers in rare taped comments intended to bolster an anti-government insurgency.

Somali Web sites that posted the 20-minute recording named the speaker as Aden Hashi Ayro, who has been in hiding since his sharia courts group was ousted from its southern strongholds by joint Somali-Ethiopian forces in January.

One of a group targeted by a U.S. air strike that month, the militant urged Somalis to wage holy war on foreign troops and accused Uganda of invading by sending 1,700 peacekeepers to Somalia — the vanguard of a planned 8,000-strong AU force.

“Like Ethiopia, Uganda also invaded our country. We will fight and assassinate their officers. All other African troops sent to Somalia will face the same fate,” he said on the tape, the authenticity of which could not be independently verified.

“We promise as long as we are alive we will continue the jihad.””

Once in awhile, I’ll get freepmail or email asking why I concentrate on jihad in foreign lands.

Simple stated, the jihad is a global jihad and the global jihad includes the United States.

Hopefully CAIR's input by the US powers-that-be is given lip service and no further consideration beyond that. Too many activist organizations with ulterior motives are injecting themselves into US policy and law. It's time for them to bone up on what THEY need to do to fit in with our laws and policies, and not what they want, demand or expect!

The executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Nihad Awad, participated in a three-day summit of U.S.-based HAMAS members and supporters in 1993.

CAIR, which touts itself as America’s premier Muslim civil rights organization, was named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the terror support trial of the Holy Land Foundation for Relief and Development and five of its officials. Omar Ahmad, who founded CAIR with Awad in 1994 and was previously identified as attending the Philadelphia meeting, also was named as an unindicted co-conspirator.

Once in awhile, I’ll get freepmail or email asking why I concentrate on jihad in foreign lands.

I'm with you Cindy on that! Reading the comments in foreign news sites are informative and eye-opening. What the media tells us is not necessarily what the citizens of those countries are posting on those websites (much anti-Americanism). It tells us what we can expect to happen in those areas as opposed to what the media tells us is happening.

If the media quit telling us about Britney and OJ, they would have the time to report what is actually going on in the world around us, instead of filling our minds with worthless gossip and inuendo. O'Reilly wastes 1/4 of his show with a trivia quiz. Award winning journalism appears to have gone the way of the dinosaur. We're rethinking our satellite dish. We get triple the news, triple fast on the internet, without news commentator attitude.

MamaDearest, I am convinced the lame-stream-media wants us to be willfully ignorant. (ie Don’t frighten the mushy-brained masses).

The lame-stream-media has access to all the same info that we post on FR and TM. The only difference is that they choose not to report on the info.
