:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
U.S. to Offer Turkey Help on PKK

The U.S. is to offer Turkey a package of measures to dissuade Ankara from mounting a large-scale military incursion into Iraq to attack PKK Kurdish guerrillas, who have killed scores of Turkish soldiers in recent weeks.

Ahead of a meeting in Washington on Monday between President George W. Bush and Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister, U.S. officials said Ankara would have to get concrete American help to combat the PKK, which has bases in northern Iraq from where it frequently launches attacks into Turkey.

“Erdogan has to go back with the belief that for whatever reason, the U.S. is serious” about tackling Turkey’s concerns regarding the PKK, said Matthew Bryza, deputy assistant secretary at the U.S. state department responsible for Turkey policy. Full story...

http://cbs2chicago.com/local/plane.bomb.threat.2.563751.html Authorities Search Plane From Chicago In New York Officials: American Airlines Plane Was Subject Of Bomb Threat NEW YORK (CBS) ― Police and emergency vehicles were on hand at New York's LaGuardia airport when an American Airlines flight from Chicago landed early Thursday afternoon. The MD-80, flight 382, was towed to a secure area after it landed. After several minutes buses were driven alongside the plane and passengers were able to disembark. Officials said the plane received some type of bomb threat. Live video from CBS 2 sister station WCBS-TV's chopper showed the passengers being herded to an area between the buses and what appeared to be a concrete retaining wall. A short time later, authorities removed all of the luggage from the plane's cargo hold. A Port Authority police officer then walked a bomb-sniffing dog up to each bag so it could check for explosives. The dogs searched each bag, but no bags were opened. It did not appear that any explosives were found. The American Airlines Web site indicated flight 382 left O'Hare International Airport at 9:31 a.m. CST and arrived at LaGuardia at 1:28 p.m. EST, nearly 45 minutes late. WCBS-TV, New York, contributed to this report.

“Thick heads and thick wallets fund the anti-war rhetoric and liberal media.”

You’ve got that right. I returned a missed call to my daughter, who’s a freshman in college, a few weeks ago. When I reached her, she was somewhere verrrry loud - daytime hours-

She screamed into the phone “I’M AT THE ANTI-WAR PROTEST, I’LL CALL YOU BACK.”

We had a loooong talk after that one and I sent her links to Code Pink and other lefty organizations so she could research them herself. I also sent her the links to the Young College Republicans and asked her to do some research before taking up with anti-war, anti-American leftists.

She promised she would, but said “Geeez, Mom - I only went because they had free buses to take everyone and everyone was going just for “fun.”

Mom rolls eyes and remembers back to the college days when we were all democrats.

Then we grew up.

Suspicious envelope forces evacuation
Posted on Thu, Nov. 08, 2007

BY JASMINE KRIPALANI

Workers were evacuated from a Fort Lauderdale office building Thursday afternoon after Fort Lauderdale police were told that a suspicious envelope had arrived at U.S. Rep. Ron Klein’s office.

All roads east of Northeast Eighth Avenue near Broward Boulevard were shut down, Fort Lauderdale police said.

Police said at 12:20 p.m. they got a call about a suspicious letter at the Cumberland Building in which Klein has his local office, 800 E. Broward Blvd.

Doug Bell, an attorney, was among those asked to evacuate.

‘’Police told me there was a spill and they want people to stay on the south parking lot. They don’t want us to leave the area,’’ Bell said. ``It was on the third floor. They have the place ringed with crime scene tape.’’

Suspect: ‘Playing a role’ as terrorist

MIAMI — Narseal Batiste, the leader of an accused terrorist group in Miami, testified at his federal trial Wednesday that he has led a good life:

A devoted father of four, a construction entrepreneur and a religious man who tried to help the poor in Liberty City, Fla.

Batiste insisted he was not a terrorist; he was merely “playing a role” as a would-be jihadist in a con game for money......

Bravo - Now, for Act 2, I think you should adapt the role of prisoner for about 25 years.

FBI: Terrorists Moving Toward Greater Use of WMDs, Attacks on Soft Targets

WASHINGTON — Radical Islamists who have been stymied in efforts to hit traditional military and diplomatic targets are increasingly eyeing so-called “soft targets,” and could be moving toward greater use of chemical and biological weapons, reads a new terrorism threat report released by the FBI on Wednesday

The 68-page report, called “Terrorism 2002-2005” and obtained by FOX News, offers some information already known to the public but also provides details of new trends.

~snip~

“The use of WMD against civilian targets represents the most serious potential international and domestic terrorism threat facing the United States today and provides a glimpse into emerging terrorist scenarios of the 21st century. A variety of intelligence reporting indicates that Al Qaeda has energetically sought to acquire and experiment with biological, chemical, and radiological weapons of mass destruction,” the report reads.

“Ricin and the bacterial agent anthrax are emerging as the most prevalent agents involved in WMD investigations,” the report continues.

The report cites a series of arrests in the United Kingdom and elsewhere involving Ricin

That’s a very old story and it’s non-jihad related.

Someone who was new to the internet, was using graphics picked up around the ‘net for the person’s new website.

I was relaying that incident in regards to Velveeta’s post regarding an blog entry by Rusty.
