Saudi Intelligence Chief: 14 Western ISPs Host Over 5,000 Websites Used By Al-Qaeda
Saudi chief Prince Muqren bin Abd Al-’Aziz has said that Saudi intelligence was making great efforts to prevent the activity and spread of extremist Islamist websites and forums.
He said that 14 Western ISPs were hosting over 5,400 websites used by Al-Qaeda, and that efforts were being made to stop the websites’ activity, but without much success.

“IDF: Hamas May Detonate Tunnels to Pressure Israel During Talks”

ARTICLE SNIPPET: “(IsraelNN.com) The IDF is intensifying its operations against terror tunnels from Gaza to Israel, out of concern that terrorists may opt to use this weapon against Israel in order to derail the Annapolis summit. Bulldozers and other digging machinery are being used to try and locate the tunnels.
No tunnels have been uncovered in recent days, a military source told Ynet, but “a tunnel attack could end quite badly, and we are doing everything possible to prevent that.” Extensive searching for tunnels is being carried out in the Erez, Karni and Kerem-Shalom regions of Gaza.”
I think a lot of jihad goes unreported, but I could be wrong.

Coalition Forces Target Enemy in Tigris River Valley

WASHINGTON, Nov. 26, 2007 – Coalition forces detained 10 suspects today during operations targeting al Qaeda networks along Iraq’s Tigris River Valley.
The forces conducted several operations targeting associates of al Qaeda in Iraq leaders, including foreign terrorist facilitators and planners of car-bombing attacks. During the operations, coalition forces captured two wanted individuals and detained eight suspects.
During one of the operations, information gathered from local citizens indicated that terrorists were using a school as a meeting location and safe house. Coalition forces briefly entered the school, but did not do any damage and left the school as it was found, officials said.
In operations yesterday:
— An Iraqi commando team accompanied by U.S. advisors conducted a raid west of Baghdad and captured an al Qaeda in Iraq operative. The detained individual is reported to be responsible for acts of murder and intimidation.
— Soldiers with the 8th Iraqi Army Division and U.S. forces seized two suspects during a raid to disrupt the command structure of an extremist network operating in Ash Shamiyah.
— During a mission to clear southwest Baqouba of al Qaeda in Iraq terrorists, Iraqi and U.S. troops discovered 18 roadside bombs, a homemade mortar system, rocket-propelled grenade rounds, remote detonation devices, homemade primers, 30 feet of detonation cord and military-grade explosive. All items were destroyed.
— North of Samarra, coalition forces captured a wanted individual and detained 14 suspects.
— In Baghdad, coalition forces captured a wanted individual and detained four other suspects.
— West of Yusufiyah, coalition forces captured a wanted individual allegedly associated with al Qaeda in Iraq leaders and foreign terrorists.
— South of Darband-i-Khan, coalition forces detained a suspect believed to be associated with a terrorist courier network between Iraq and neighboring countries.
— In Mosul, coalition forces detained two suspects during operations targeting al Qaeda in Iraq.
“Iraqi and coalition forces are hitting al Qaeda across Iraq, disrupting their terrorist networks,” said Army Maj. Winfield Danielson, a Multinational Force Iraq spokesman. “The Iraqi people are working with us, helping us find al Qaeda, to ensure a more secure future for their nation.”
In Nov. 24 operations:
— Iraqi and U.S. troops detained a roadside-bomb maker and an al Qaeda in Iraq agent during separate raids in Ash Shamiyah and Rawah, respectively.
— Coalition troops killed 10 terrorists and detained eight others during operations north of Samarra.
— Coalition forces killed one terrorist and detained 10 others during operations in central and northern Iraq.
In Nov. 23 operations:
— Coalition forces captured three suspected terrorists during operations in Rashidiyah, north of Baghdad.
— Iraqi forces and U.S. advisors detained four suspected terrorists during raids in northeast Baghdad and Samarra.

LAS VEGAS - Military authorities are checking a vehicle after a bomb-sniffing dog sensed something inside it at a Nellis Air Force Base gate. A police spokesman says part of Las Vegas Boulevard is blocked off not far from the Mike O'Callaghan Federal Hospital while officials investigate. He calls it a precaution.
No word yet if the car actually contains any explosives. The driver is being questioned after the alert at the hospital gate. That's across the street from the air force base. A base spokeswoman says the alert was posted about 11:15 this morning.

Top police officer warns that nuclear attack is inevitable (Scotland)
A NUCLEAR attack by terrorists causing widespread panic, chaos and death is inevitable and will happen soon, a senior Scottish police officer has warned.
Ian Dickinson, who leads the police response to chemical, biological and nuclear threats in Scotland, has painted the bleakest picture yet of the dangers the world now faces. Efforts to prevent terrorist groups from obtaining materials that could be made into radioactive dirty bombs - or even crude nuclear explosives - are bound to fail, he said. And the result will be horror on an unprecedented scale.
"These materials are undoubtedly out there, and undoubtedly will end up in terrorists' hands, and undoubtedly will be used by terrorists some time soon," he declared. "We must plan for failure and prepare for absolute terror." Dickinson is assistant chief constable with Lothian and Borders Police, and has responsibility through the Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland for protecting Scotland from chemical and nuclear attacks. He has been closely involved in co-ordinating the country's counter-terrorism response.

Terrorist might detonate a Dirty Bomb in a major city: IAEA
Edinburgh, Nov 21: The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has warned that terrorists might detonate a "dirty bomb" in a major city sooner than later.
William Nye, Home Office director of counter-terrorism and intelligence, told delegates that al-Qaida is actively seeking high-grade uranium and plutonium in order to detonate a "dirty bomb" in major cities such as London or Washington. "As the terrorists look for the next spectacular attack, we know that al-Qaida in Iraq is calling on nuclear scientists to join in the jihad. Combating this threat requires international cooperation," The Scotsman quoted Nye, as saying.
Peter Jenkins, Britain`s chief representative to the Vienna-based IAEA, told the conference that while it is not known if terrorists have acquired nuclear materials, the threat is real.
"Nuclear terrorism has been recognised as a genuine threat since the 1970s, and we have evidence that al-Qaida has been trying to acquire material since the 1990s. But since 9/11 the risk has become a widespread international concern," Jenkins said. Steven Aoki, a counter-terrorism official at the US Energy Department, called for improved scrutiny of radioactive material used for industrial and academic purposes, and to prevent it from falling into the hands of terrorists. "This is a major problem with a potentially large amount of radioactive material out there and unaccounted for. We need to get hold of it and store it securely," Aoki said.
The IAEA warning came at a four-day international conference being held on nuclear trafficking at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre in Edinburgh, Scotland. Around 350 experts from nearly 70 countries are assessing anti-terrorist programmes and discussing how to combat any threat involving nuclear material.

Afghan Commandos Detain Several Taliban Extremists

WASHINGTON, Nov. 26, 2007 – Afghanistan’s elite military force detained several suspected insurgents during an operation in the Zormat district of Paktya province yesterday, officials said.
The Afghan commandos targeted a Taliban bomb-making site during an early morning raid in Sheykhan village. The Taliban responded with sporadic gunfire in an attempt to defend their position. After the brief firefight, several Taliban suspects were taken into custody for further investigation.
“Once again, the commandos demonstrated their ability to rapidly respond to the concerns of local citizens and the directives of the government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan,” said Army Maj. Chris Belcher, a Combined Joint Task Force 82 spokesman.
“Thank you for giving us peace and stability in the village, all we want is to live in peace,” a local villager said to military officials.
The commandos’ training and dedication to mission paid off, Belcher said, noting the Iraqi troops’ “aggressive attitude and enhanced skills allowed them to seize the initiative and work well with their partnered (Afghan police) throughout this operation.”
In other Afghanistan news, coalition troops detained five Taliban militants suspected of weapons smuggling during an operation conducted in Zabul province Nov. 23.
“Coalition forces are continuing to disrupt the Taliban’s supply of weapons in Afghanistan,” Belcher said. “We are eroding the Taliban’s resources and their ability to bring harm on the Afghan people.”

“International Pressure Best Response to Iranian Threat, Gates Say”

I wish our politicians would be as honest and forthright as those in Scotland regarding the nuke threat.
DODA, Nov. 25: Rarely does one across a mother who would ask her son to pick up the gun and become a terrorist. This has happened in a far-flung, mountainous village in the militancy-infested Doda district of Jammu province. Hajma Bi, a resident of Kashtigarh village, asked her son to become a terrorist. The boy did so and joined a terrorist group, operating in the area for some time. But he had a mission.
Inayatullah Khan, a young boy was leading a harsh but simple mountainous life in a difficult terrain with his large family of sisters and brothers. Perhaps, the whole family would never have imagined that the events would take such a shape that it would be difficult for them to lead normal lives.
Heavily armed terrorists swooped upon his village one day and asked Inayatullah's father to give them his son to take part in the jihad in Jammu and Kashmir. As the father refused, the terrorists let loose a reign of terror on the poor peasant family. “The terrorists started returning everyday to harass us,” said Hajma Bi, Inayatullah's mother.
Fear and uncertainly forced Hajma Bi and her husband to send their son elsewhere. The terrorists got frustrated when they did not find the boy around. They belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen. The terrorists led by Bashir Luhaar molested the daughters and daughters-in-law of the family, beat up the father and tortured the male members. Inayatullah's brothers were asked to undress before they thrashed them. The old father died after being beaten up so mercilessly. This became too much for the family. The mother took a decision,” said Mr Mahohar Singh, senior superintendent of police, Doda.
Hajma Bi asked his son to avenge the killing of his father and humiliation of the women of the family. Inayatullah became a terrorist, killed Bashir Luhaar and his associates and fulfilled the promise that he made to his mother. “I am happy to have fulfilled the promise to my mother,” said Inayatullah, who recently surrendered before the Doda police at a surrender ceremony.
But his wife Nasreen Begum is scared for she fears retaliation by other members of the Hizbul Mujahideen. “They would try to kill us as my husband killed a top Hizbul Mujahideen commander. We need protection,” said a worried Nasreen Begum.

Karachi, 26 Nov. - Pakistan's president Pervez Musharraf will step down as army chief and be sworn in as a civilian president on Thursday, his spokesman Rashid Qureshi confirmed to Adnkronos International (AKI).
“November 28, Wednesday will be General Pervez Musharraf's last day as chief of army staff," retired major general Rashid Qureshi told AKI. "He will preside over his last meeting as corps commander on Wednesday and will say farewell to his military colleagues. He will take the oath as President of Pakistan on Thursday,” said Qureshi.
“He will retain all his present staff with him including the security staff. The special services group of the Pakistan Army under a brigadier will continue to guard him," said Qureshi. "All the military officers with him at present will also continue as his staff even after his retirement,” he said.

Palestinians to reject Annapolis summit results says Hamas
Gaza, 26 Nov. - Palestinians are unlikely to accept any outcome or decisions from this week's Middle East peace conference in the United States, said a spokesman for militant Islamist group Hamas on Monday.
"The Palestinians will never recognise any of the results that emerge from the conference in Annapolis and will act as if it never even happened," said Mushir al-Masri, a spokesman for the Hamas movement which controls Gaza.
Palestinian and Israeli leaders began arriving in Washington on Monday to attend the conference in Annapolis to try and move forward in the Middle East peace process.
Sixteen Arab nations, including Saudi Arabia and Syria, have agreed to attend Tuesday's one-day meeting with Israel. However Hamas will not be participating. Hamas is considered a terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union and was not invited to the Annapolis summit.
