California Fire Battalion Chief - Whoever Did This Knew What They Were Doing

October 22, 2007

Fire officials are now stating that the Orange County Santiago fire was purposely set and there is speculation that other fires may have also been deliberate. See Interactive Map

Fire officials found three separate “points of origin,” all near the intersection of Silverado Canyon Road and Santiago Canyon Road. Two were on one side of the road, and the third was on the other. “Whoever did this knew what they were doing,” said Kris Concepcion, a fire authority battalion chief. Also, the fire traveled 3 miles in its first 20 minutes when it was ignited about 6 p.m. Sunday, he said.

We are NOT implying that the California fires are an act of terrorism however; the threat of pyro-terrorist attacks pose a significant risk to the U.S. and the fires in California and in Greece earlier this year should be a wake-up call.

In 2003 an FBI memo alerted law enforcement agencies that an al-Qaeda terrorist being held in detention had talked of masterminding a plot to set a series of devastating forest fires around the western United States.

It was reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country.

“The detainee believed that significant damage to the U.S. economy would result and once it was realized that the fires were terrorist acts, U.S. citizens would put pressure on the U.S. government to change its policies,” the memo said.

How Can So Many Fires Be By Natural Causes ?

A Local News Radio talk show host in San Diego asked, “how can so many fires, in so many places, in such a short period of time, all be caused by natural causes”.

al-Qaeda Detainee Spoke of Fire Plot

As we have stated before. If you see anything suspicious, report it to law enforcement immediately.

UPDATE: Video - Officials say arson now suspected in Orange County Fire

UPDATE: From Los Angeles Fox News

“I’m sad to report this is an arson fire,” OCFA Chief Chip Prather announced at an early morning briefing. “There were three separate starts: two on one side of the road and one on the other, and obviously we are actively investigating that.”

Links - A number of blogs and websites have sprung up to report on the fires. We will provide links to a couple we’ve found.

I normally commute to and from Orange County using the 241. If they find the guy...can I whack him personally, please?

since you asked this was posted (by FR Kolokotronis) in response to my query about the fires in Greece...

“Heard anything Kolokotronis?”

Nothing that I think is real reliable but I will say that there is talk of terrorism around the courts in Athens. Who the terrorists are no one seems to know and that part of the world is full of terrorists with causes. The common denominator, if not the motivation, is usually Mohammedanism, but not always by any

I am glad I found this site. I was looking for info on the fires.
I have friends in san Diego and can’t get in touch with them right now.
I found this forum looking for info.
Thanks.

I had not heard it was arson, but I suspected as much. it was being discussed in the news last week that there could be fires and voila! now there are.

That’s been your agenda for as long as you’ve been posting here.

An agenda of dispassionate rational thought seems to irritate a lot of people.

Anyone that hasn't noticed that for any Really Bad Thing happening the sole interest of a lot of people have in it is that it might have been caused by Muslims (or a distant second, third, and fourth, illegal immigrants, gays, or envirowhackos) is pretty blind.

That I don’t know; I don’t have access to t.v. (except online), and I wasn’t home all day.

So that is news to me.

yeah, a select few on here seem to think *every* bad event is caused by radical muslims.

I'd just point out in the jumping-to-conclusions department that "they knew what they were doing" frankly applies more to an experienced and trained wildfire firefighter, than to a Muslim terrorist.

I could see the flames from my house all day today and still tonight. It's about 5 -7 miles from my home. There's the toll road and a large reservoir between me and the fires but if it gets down past those, which these fires never have, I might be in deep voodoo. My brother was evacuated from his home in Fallbrook yesterday.

I think you are right. Arson for insurance is an old one. But, really, we don’t know. The terrorism angle, I thought of that immediately in 2003, but today at work, some of our sheeple type were even saying that is what they think!

Jeff Head says he wrote about it, in a book years ago. I myself discussed writing a book about a disgruntled forestry worker that set timing devices in the western woods, as payback for his lost job/miserable life. That was in 1994.

Anyone could have done this, for a number of reasons.

Also, remember tainted Tylenol? Lots of copycats....

Is debunking an inherent part of your profession? A serious question.

Ah well . . . does tend to keep the rest of us more grounded and reality based.

But I still think you set yourself up to be blind-sided by a TYPE II error.

Evidently you automatically think your assumptions are better than the assumptions of the other poster.

I don’t.

“But...this has probably already been ruled IT’S NOT AN ACT OF TERRORISM.”

Why would we call a terrorist what he is? The entire media is already priming us with “Al Queda Associates in New Jersy” as headlines. So now someone associated with AQ goes from a terrorist to a mere associate...and guess what the determining factor was? The fact he was ON US SOIL. Wake the #$#@ up people. Illigal immigrants are merely migrants. People who yell Allah Akbar two times before being pumped full of lead in the Northwest by officers is merely a disgruntled youth who just happened to be muslim. Ok, I’ll stop there for now. Just damn (lmao) :)

In this case my first thoughts would have went to an ex-fireman or two whose careers took a sudden downward spriral, if the so-called expertise is truely representative of what happened. Genious to some is ignorance to others (lol).

Thanks for the ping.

An agenda of dispassionate rational thought...

One which would sooner attribute train bombings in India to Baptists than to islamists.

Anyone that hasn't noticed that for any Really Bad Thing happening the sole interest of a lot of people have in it is that it might have been caused by Muslims... is pretty blind.

To suggest that "a lot" of people's only interest in the fires is the possibility that they might have been cause by islamofascists is beyond disingenuous. The wild fires have been discussed here around the clock for going on three days now, before the possibility was even discussed today.

But at least you're admitting that the islamist angle is a possibility. That's a big step for you.

Chargers Leave S. Calif. Fires for Ariz.

Oct 23 10:40 PM US/Eastern
By BERNIE WILSON
AP Sports

SAN DIEGO (AP) - The San Diego Chargers boarded a plane for Phoenix on Tuesday night, not knowing where or when they’ll play their next game.
They left town because of the wildfires that chased many in the organization out of their homes, fouled the air and left Sunday’s scheduled home game against the Houston Texans in doubt.

Their superstar running back knows his home survived the firestorm. Their general manager hasn’t heard if he’ll have a house to come home to.

My first thought was the fires were set by the Gobull warming crowd aka Dirt! First. I guess I thought that because the first news and was laced with the “tinder dry due to gobull warming”

You know that the media are goading them to start the fires when they use those keywords.
