Why does the lie persist?
Begin e-mail:
Sen. Nelson believes it is wrong for someone to characterize our service men and women as "phony soldiers" because they oppose the war they're fighting, just as he said last week it was wrong of someone else to question the patriotism of a U.S. General. The bottom line: we can disagree without being disagreeable.
Senator Nelson has not yet released a statement in regards to “matching funds” from the sale of the letter in question.

The "Honorable" senator's staff was cordial, and cooperative. It only took two contacts to get the response. Senator Graham's office wouldn't take calls or e-mails from me after they tried to steal the 2000 election.
Senator Nelson is a Vet, he should know better, or he is poorly informed by his staff.

Senator Nelson is a Vet, he should know better, or he is poorly informed by his staff. Any Senator this misinformed is a nit wit of the first order and entirely too lazy for the job at hand. I don't care who it is. Anyone this misinformed is so because that is what he or she wants to be.

Todd Schnitt, host of the Schnitt Show on Tampa Bay area radio tried for three days last week to get Nelson to phone in the show with an explanation on why he signed the Reid letter.
Then he had his staff try Nelson's office periodically during the three hour program. They also left messages. It was funnier than heck.
I lost track, but for all I know, Nelson still hasn't returned the call to Schnitt.

Were you able to ask the Nelson staffers if they heard a recording of what Rush actually said?
Did they know that he was referring to the soldiers who falsified their service records to get better benefits NOT all soldiers who oppose the war?
On the other hand, DemonRats like Nelson & his staff don’t want to be ‘confused’ by inconvenient facts; they would rather use lies to attack Rush.
