My first thought too. That's a lot of energy to keep routing around a corner.
IF true, (and I remember that story at the time) it’s been erased from the “official” report, which just had SWAT arriving very late, with rifles. Presumably their own, but that was not stated one way or the other.
Hmmm.....
Whazzat screwed on the barrel, Travis?
Was the “documentary” an episode of “Shootout?”
That one didn’t mention the private ARs either.
Interesting. The run to B&B for suitable arms was a major component of the event. Due to inexplicable sociopolitical complications from that event, the store closed a few months after.
Apparently can’t have memory of when the gov’t turned to already-armed citizens for help...
...which is exactly what the real scare in “1984” was: the problem wasn’t so much “Big Brother is watching”, the problem was that any historical record inconvenient to the gov’t was systematically eliminated & replaced.
Probably in Yemen, Iraq or Afghanistan before here.
Thanks for the memory correction, too few functioning brain cells these days...and at 80 yds I want a rifle EVERY time...
I just trashed the offending episode of “Shootout” on itunes.
Now let’s see if they publish it.
I really ought to read that book... would I be merely reading history at this point ???
were all .45 here in NC
There are few 2nd place medals awarded in gun fights—
that story sounds familiar too, but its been awhile and I cant recall fer sure all the details...prolly woulda sold a bunch of raffle tickets...
Not at all. And quite frankly, it would help you recognize what a government official that needs to be shot looks like.
Yes, you should read it. Pronto.
Others have, and are implementing it.
It will indeed sound awfully familiar.
As I noted, and as the book’s appendix (yes, a novel with an appendix) goes into great detail about, the real concern isn’t Big Brother watching everything, but that his minions are rewriting history and adjusting language precisely so that the would-be opposition is simply incapable of even _thinking_ offending thoughts.
To the subthread: that police turned to armed citizens (to wit: a store) for aid at North Hollywood is a fact inconvenient to our would-be tyrants, so they shut down the store involved and are writing it out of any history of the event. Now those arguing in favor of the 2nd Amendment have no hard history to point to.
Any other 'must reads' ???
Farenheit 451 - TV-dazzled generation is no longer allowed to read, and woe to those who try.
Unintended Consequences - Lotta history, with a final buildup that sounds eerily similar. Read the last 100 pages if it’s too thick.
Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels - Life is imitating the series. 9/11 was a bit too similar to Executive Orders.
I was at AP fire Arms here in VB a couple of months ago when one of the testers brought 2 of these in for testing on the indoor range. All I can say is I want one when the civilian version comes out!
I know nothing about armaments. I was taking a wild guess that accuracy suffered with less kickback
To the contrary: in a machinegun (or rapidly-fired semi-auto), less kick means easier control allowing greater accuracy.
Wow have you got a good memory ! I try to forget that happened.......I miss ole Bob ! He still on agua fria road ?
