IF true, (and I remember that story at the time) it’s been erased from the “official” report, which just had SWAT arriving very late, with rifles. Presumably their own, but that was not stated one way or the other.
Interesting. The run to B&B for suitable arms was a major component of the event. Due to inexplicable sociopolitical complications from that event, the store closed a few months after.
Apparently can’t have memory of when the gov’t turned to already-armed citizens for help...
...which is exactly what the real scare in “1984” was: the problem wasn’t so much “Big Brother is watching”, the problem was that any historical record inconvenient to the gov’t was systematically eliminated & replaced.
