Appendix may be useful after all
Seemingly useless organ may produce, protect good germs for your gut

WASHINGTON - Some scientists think they have figured out the real job of the troublesome and seemingly useless appendix: It produces and protects good germs for your gut...

Plus, bad design is still design...
__________
So the Almighty is capable of bad design? Are you really saying that?
FR has an appendix like reservoir of mentally disturbed kooks like him that periodically come out of that refuge and pollute the system. They have nothing better to do because people in real life avoid them. This is the only way they can get rational people to notice them.
Apparently, for my brother, the appendix was more trouble than it was worth. He had his out as a teenager and has been healthy ever since.
Gall bladders have functions, but when they become diseased, it is often recommended that they be removed. An ex-boyfriend of mine suffered for years with his gall bladder till he finally got rid of it...now he’s a much happier and healthier person without it.
The Almighty is very capable of bad design. Look at the knee for instance. If ever there was a bad design, it is our knee which is forever having its ligaments broken and torn. And the trachea is not a great design. There ought to be a trap door so when you choke on your food, it can be expelled right in the neck. And our metabolic processes have a bunch of kinks.
When you get older, you’ll learn to recognize wry humor a bit better. But that’s OK, you have plenty of time in front of you to learn the distinction between a literal read and that which is not to be taken literally.
Oh, wait. Maybe not.
Doesn't really matter. Creationists by definition just make it up as they go. That's why they're called creationists.
well, y’see, sin is about relationships being out of wack, relationships with God, each other, the rest of creation, ourselves.
So we have to ponder not only pre-lapsarian bellybuttons and lint, but was the lint IN the bellybutton - and was that a problem? Like, who knows, maybe it was cool to have lint in your beelybuttonbefore the Fall.
Theology is full of surprises....
You are the one injecting religion into this. All I said was my appendix was defective. Possibly a case of bad quality control on the factory floor.
In that case, we are full of vestigial parts. Hair, teeth, pinky toes, pinky fingers...
What do we need noses for anymore? why not just have a hole in the middle of our face to breath through. And legs aren’t really all that useful anymore. We could get by with much shorter weaker legs and barely any feet at all.
Well, we are bound to have vestigial and semi vestigial parts if we are evolving. Perhaps the vestigial appendix had a good function no longer needed. But teeth are needed as is the pinky finger and perhaps the hair. ANd legs are useful. And the nose is necessary to filter the air a bit.
But the fact that the appendix has a function useful in small populations of people wide spread doesn’t obviate evolution as a theory.
What do you need a pinky finger for? or hair? Who breaths dirty air anymore? None of this is needed. We don’t even need much in the way of skin anymore. Baby skin would be sufficient.
You don’t think we need skin anymore? You are pulling my leg? Right?
I do think we could get along without our baby toe and probably do better without it. I personally would give up my gall bladder and part of my stomach. But I draw the line at hair and pinky.
I might as well pull your leg. You don’t need it anymore.
I wonder why every critter from snails to whales has this ‘useless organ’.
It must be pretty important is some subtle way to be preserved across so many species...
LOL!!!......Thats better than Innuendo....... ~ Red Badger
Yuck. Innuendo. That's how they diagnosed my appendicitis way back when.
THANK YOU! You never know when a rimshot classic will pop up. I had almost given up on this thread when I came across this gem. :-)
