So, should viewers of Tuesday's Republican presidential debate expect an exchange of views between the candidates - or between the candidates and one of the event's moderators?
It's a fair question, given the jaw-dropping comments Thursday evening from MSNBC blowhard - and scheduled debate moderator - Chris Matthews.

This was my impression too. Apparently Chrissy is one of those people who runs at the mouth after he has had a few too many.
watching Matthews and Olbermann take over as the news anchors on NBC at midnight of election night ‘06 tells you all you need to know about “objectivity.” No different than if O’Reilly and Hannity occupied those chairs for Fox.
Liberals want the world to believe that a liberal lump of crap like Mathews is moderate and Rush Limbaugh is an extremist. They are quick to label conservatives as fanatics but they never seem to label the loonies on the left. How many of the democrat candidates would show up at a debate that was moderated by Michael Savage? If the republicans had a spine they would refuse to attend a debate where a loudmouth slob like Mathews was the moderator.
I know what you are saying, but believe me I have given up expecting Republicans to defend themselves. The more we accept this kind of insult (from Matthews), the weaker we look. It looks as if we don’t want to take on what the exploding head had to say because there is an element of truth to it.
In my opinion it is time to say enough of this. Time to make some “noise” and shout it from the rooftops that we define who we are not the leftist media. We are dumped on because we never fight back. There are enough conservative media outlets out there that we do not have to accept whatever it is the leftists are saying any longer.
Where’s conservative moderators in any of the debates? The GOP is cowtowing to the liberal media and, I for one, will not watch any debate that is moderated by the liberals. They only ask questions in order to bring embarrassment upon the GOP candidates and they treat the demorat candidates like they are teddy bears.
Yes, it was a long time ago and Chris was on the right side of the Clinton impeachment thing (I think). Anyway, he was on the right side of some issue and Rush let him host, once or twice. He was horrible. Rush learned his lesson.

Matthew certainly should have been disqualified after the last time he hosted a debate. In the last one he asked all the Republican candidates to admit that they wished Bill Clinton was still the president. They all laughed at him. That was such an obviously biased question Matthews should have been barred from ever again hosting anything political.

Oh wow, I had forgotten about that. How long would we have to hold our breath waiting for such a question to be asked of Democrats? I’m turning blue.

Agree - I can't promise I'll vote for them, but any candidate who stands up to Matthews or objects to his presence as a moderator will earn my respect. I'd like to see the candidates object as a group or even refuse to answer his questions and just make their own political statements.

I agree 100%. The GOP candidates should turn Matthews obvious bias against him. Call him on it. Reference his over-the-top remarks in this article. This guy used to work in the Carter White House, did he not? ‘Nuff said. I’m looking for the candidate who’s going to attack, attack, attack the America hating Socialists at every turn!
PLEASE! Let someONE anyONE (love it to be FRED!) call out Matthews for his stupid questions—or just for being a liberal hack, in general. Let one of these fine candidates (though I choked a bit thinking about calling a few of them fine) call him on the carpet for his comments about President Bush being a criminal the other night. I really want to see him turn red and sputter.
Remember the LAST debate Matthews moderated? “Tell me, wouldn’t it be GREAT to get Bill Clinton back in the Whitehouse?” He asked that as excitedly as a child would ask about Christmas.
What a drooling idiot! Never mind the inanity of asking a REPUBLICAN contender about how great it would be to get a DEMOCRAT back in the Whitehouse (if they thought that, you dolt, they wouldn’t be running to OPPOSE them!), but a CLINTON?? I laughed so hard when Romney retorted, “You have GOT to be kidding!”
