I wonder why a Mormon in the Senate or House is not an issue? There are 16 of them, five senators, 10 House members and one delegate. Four of them are democrats, including Harry Reid. Novak is full of crap.

I've read Hugh Hewitt's book. I've thought about it carefully.

I think his Mormon religion is a HUGE obstacle to his election in November, 2008, and I'd like to find that out now, rather than after the convention.

All this Mormon bashing is exactly how Ted Kennedy (bearly) beat Romney for the Senate. He flooded the Mass. media with scary anti-Mormon crap.

Great news Mitt fans! Not only does Romney lead in several early primary states, but the national race is getting closer as well! Woo hoo! Practically a dead heat with the margin of error.

Poll Watch: Rasmussen Daily Tracker (10/4)Poll

Thompson - 22%
Giuliani - 20%
Romney - 17%
McCain - 11%
Huckabee - 5%

Daily tracking results are from survey interviews conducted over four days ending last night. Each update includes approximately 600-650 Likely Republican Primary Voters. Margin of sampling error for each is +/- 4

Just keep repeating this over and over and maybe the bigots will change their reason for not supporting one of the best candidates to your reason.

Gee, maybe Giuliani would be a better choice. The Pope is already trying to give him direction.

There are valid/biblical reasons why Mr. Romney is losing his grip/falling in the polls here in NH and elsewhere:

1) Mr. Romney is a prominent member of a religious cult that believes that “the Bible is full of errors”, that the ludicrous Book of Mormon has supplanted the Bible and is “god’s” latest revelation to mankind, that their so-called leader/president speaks new/divine revelation from “god”, that Jesus Christ is Satan’s brother, that “god” was once a man and that men, by following the doctrines and dictates of Mormonism can become “gods” ruling over their own planets, propagating these new worlds by having sex with the wives they have married here on earth. Holy underwear, that Jesus Christ came to America, that the Indians were Jews, that the virgin birth was the direct result of “god” having sex with Mary. Anyone who believes this space-cadet theology shows a lack of discernment at the core of their being. I do not care how many Olympics this guy has “saved” and run well, or experience he has had as governor.

It is also vitally important to note that in order to obtain the high position Mr. Romney currently holds within the cult he has had to take an oath to the “church”; swearing his allegiance to Mormonism and it’s leadership and to doing everything within his power to establish the Mormon "kingdom of god" upon the earth. This fact alone disqualifies him from holding the office of President of the United States because his allegiance lies elsewhere.

Recently, Mormonism has sought legitimacy by claiming to be “Christian”, and following the Jesus of the Bible, but this is a very recent phenomena in it's history. Fortunately, it’s current president/leader has admitted that Mormons do not in point of fact follow the traditional Christ of the Bible, or of biblical Christianity::

The current president of the Mormon Church, Gordon B. Hinckley, made a very telling comment about Jesus Christ in a talk in Geneva, Switzerland, June 6, 1998. The Deseret News reported:

In bearing testimony of Jesus Christ, President Hinckley spoke of those outside the Church who say Latter-day Saints "do not believe in the traditional Christ. No, I don't. The traditional Christ of whom they speak is not the Christ of whom I speak. For the Christ of whom I speak has been revealed in this the Dispensation of the Fullness of Times.

He together with His Father, appeared to the boy Joseph Smith in the year 1820, and when Joseph left the grove that day, he knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages." (Deseret News, Church News section, Salt Lake City, Utah, week ending June 20, 1998, p. 7)

President. Hinckley, the leader of Mormonism, was being totally honest and told the truth; Mormons do not worship the traditional Jesus Christ who is described in the Bible, the Holy Word of God. They worship a false christ as proclaimed and taught by Joseph Smith, who, according to Hinckley “knew more of the nature of God than all the learned ministers of the gospel of the ages"... if you believe that, there is a bridge in Brooklyn I would like to sell you.

It should be noted that, from its inception Mormonism has been deemed a cult and NEVER been recognized as being a part of “Christianity or Christendom because it’s core doctrines are in total opposition to the Word of God, the doctrine of salvation, the Christ of the Bible, and the Christ of Christianity.

There are also valid political reasons for not voting for Mr. Romney.

2) Mr. Romney has flip flopped on abortion, homosexuality and a number of other issues while in his position of leadership as governor of MA. He had the opportunity to take a stand and he bent which ever way the political wind blew.

3) During the gas crunch/crises that took place while he was governor of MA. Mr. Romney had the opportunity to provide some relief for the struggling people of MA by rolling back or eliminating the exceptionally high MA gas tax during the period covering the gas crisis. People throughout the state were hurting. People in the state begged him to do this but he staunchly refused… so much for his commitment to “cutting taxes”.

Yes he is “handsome” and telegenic, but people here in NH know him, what he believes and how he governs and frankly, many of us do not want him to become the leader of the free world and can not/will not vote for him.

I, along with others who have mentioned these facts concerning Mormonism are telling the truth about the CULT in order to educate the public at large. Whether people wish to acknowledge it or not, the fact of the matter is this: what one believes and follows has a direct bearing and impact upon how they live their lives and how they view the world and their place in it and in the case of politicians, …how they govern (The "president" of Iran is a good example of the reailty behind this principle). Therefore, stating what Mormonism teaches, believes and practices is not “Mormon bashing", it is presenting reality. The facts stated above about the cult which Mr. Romney is so actively involved in are readily available and easily verified by anyone and everyone who is willing to take the time to do some simple apologetics research with an open mind, taking Mormonism at face value, examining it's founders, leaders, doctrines, beliefs and practices in light of history, the Word of God and the founder (The Lord Jesus Christ), leaders, doctrine and beliefs of biblical Christianity and "the faith once and for all delivered to the saints."

HERE I AM WITH PRESIDENT ROMNEY

Hear the Song

Hello Hillary, Hey Giuliani
Here I am with President Romney
How he won this was a riot
Newsweek caught you two in bathrobes at the Hyatt

Mitt says our land needs reformin'
'Cause it's not completely Mormon
So protesters must speak softly
And the War on Drugs now targets tea and coffee

For his talks with dignitaries
Mitt just sends the missionaries
And state dinners - gee, they're mellow
All the heads of state bring casserole and Jell-o

Heads on Rushmore - you would dig 'em
Mitt just sculpted Brother Brigham
And the anthem needed switchin'
So it's now "I Hope They Call Me on a Mission"

Oh my word
He got elected
Oh my gosh
How unexpected
'Cause he's quite
Distinctly male and white
Despite
His V.P. Gladys Knight

Oh my heck
The far right trounces
Mormon lives
So Mitt renounces
Plural wives
But deep down they're OK
As long as none are gay

Now I don't know where we're headin'
But it might be Armageddon
So you sinners better move it
'Cause we're in the latter days and Mitt will prove it

I must meet the Elders' Quorum
At the White House here in Orem
So I'll run now - this is awesome
We'll be swearing in Chief Justice Donny Osmond!

Wish they had the whole song up there still, sigh.

Who is spurring on this Romney-is-a-Mormon suspicion campaign? Hairy Reed [deliberate sic] is a Mormon, and people don’t seem worried about him.

He replied that about the only people who brought up his religion were members of the media, an answer that simply is untrue.

Why am I not surprised? The man will say anything.

So I guess since Robert Novak is asking what some of us have been asking for the last year, that makes Robert Novak a bigot.

Resty, I was going to post this earlier about the growth of the LDS Church, since there are some here perplexed how it could possibly happen.

Here it is, watch it through to the end, pretty interesting. It represents new Stakes and their growth around the world.

`Romney was either too obtuse to appreciate his problem

So what is the problem with being a Mormon that the MSM keeps shoving down our throats? THEY'RE the ones who keep telling us that we should be aware of the problem but nobody has yet to tell me what that problem is.........

Can anyone here enlighten me??????

Who gives a two squirts of duck poop if he’s a Mormon? His problem is that he was elected governor of Massachusetts and went on to do his job Kennedy-style. :p

It saddens me to see the level of bigotry displayed by my fellow Freepers in this thread - - here’s an example:

“I could not vote for a Mormon.”

The media is obviously more interested in his Mormonism than anyone else, because they want to make sure to put questions in everyone’s mind.

I have lived around Mormons most of my adult life, and just as in any sect, a good Christian is a good person. Mormons have their book of Mormon, which I think is a crock, their sect founder was a scam artist (IMHO), but what they teach each other and their kids is very, very good.

That being said, I wonder how much the LDS Church controlls LDS politicians. Let’s face it, Orrin Hatch is a POS, and buddies with Ted Kennedy. How can you be a good Mormon/Christian and be his buddy? Worse, agree with him on many policy issues? The power of the Church (any church) scares me more than which Christian sect he belongs to.
