I wonder why a Mormon in the Senate or House is not an issue? There are 16 of them, five senators, 10 House members and one delegate. Four of them are democrats, including Harry Reid. Novak is full of crap.

Senate and Presidency is sort of the social equivalent of the difference between a bicycle and a freight train. A Senator has almost no effect on the public. That’s why there is this issue at the Presidential level for Romney as a Mormon while there are several Mormon Senators and Congressmen with little issue. The Mormon Senators and Congressmen are also in Western states which is the least religious section of the country.

From a Christian perspective, the hope is that since the Mormons turn on a dime from former doctrine — polygamy was irrevocable doctrine until it wasn’t, no black priests was clear in Mormon scripture until it wasn’t anymore in 1978 — with any luck in a hundred years the Mormon’s will become Christian or the church will lose what little energy it has left and just be like the Masons are now, a sort of shell with guys wearing silly hats or whatever Masons do with a lot of real estate slowly being sold off. The time is wrong for a Mormon president now though. It will just hand the election to Hillary in my opinion to nominate Romney.

Didja ever stop to think that Dingy Harry might be an extra reason not to vote for a mormon to be POTUS?
