I didn't say anything about the temple ordinances. I said the scriptures and the curriculum are available. Those are where you'll find all our doctrine and beliefs.

This is patently not true.

There is no AUTHORITY to even DO your Temple Rites® if they cannot be found in your 'scriptures'.

Just like you, you can say or post very unkind things that are not true but hey that is how you choose to exercise your free will!

It appears so!!!

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/19#19
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself adelivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I bsaw two cPersonages, whose brightness and dglory defy all description, estanding above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My fBeloved gSon. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to ainquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all awrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those bprofessors were all ccorrupt; that: “they ddraw near to me with their lips, but their ehearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the fcommandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the gpower thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself alying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, bmother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother, “I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

“For someone who didn’t want to be silenced and who loves to attack and condemn Mormons for their beliefs, you are ominously quiet when it comes to expressing your beliefs. So why do you get so bent out of shape when we have to guess what you believe?”

Because you aren’t my Confessor, you have no moral weight as an atheist, you are a lost soul who is not up to any good but only wishes to drag other people down into your sorry pit of despair. I don’t “owe” you the time of day, especially since every post you come out with attempts to insert words and positions into my mouth. I don’t play games with someone who claims to have no moral foundation (and then must continually try and in insinuate without basis that I have no beliefs in tedious post after post). If I had no beliefs, you wouldn’t be so absolutely desperate to try and break them down.

“So apparently you agree with my definition of God? I have asked you repeatedly for your definition and you have failed to give it.
My definition of God is the null set, it doesn’t exist. So by definition God doesn’t exist.”

And I said before that you should do your own work and provide your own definition of God. I also said I would wait to see how small a paper-tiger God you put up so that you could knock it down and you have not disappointed. That’s the best you could come up with? The null set?

But even there you screwed up, because are you now saying that the null set doesn’t exist? Yup, you are blind to the holes in your own logic.

“Still waiting to see if you have any beliefs? Apparently not.”

Again, coming from an atheist, that is quite a ludicrous accusation. Besides, you confuse being judiciously silent to a total absence of belief - an extreme logical falacy that is monkey stupid. A mountain on a windless day is silent but can hardly be wished away by some doltish statement.

“What is the difference between being silenced and saying nothing?”

A zero is just as much a bit of information as a 1. Imposing silence on someone is quite a bit different than their saying nothing - censure is information destructive while silence is information.

“You falsely accused me of wanting to silence you and now you have nothing to say.”

I falsely accused you of nothing, you were well aware of what you were trying to do by insuating a cabal existed. Or do you just make empty accusations assuming no one will act on your ego inflated drivel? And I’ve said plenty, it’s your hysteria that is a bit disconcerting.

“Evangelicals will never vote a Mormon for any office.”

And they should be ashamed of themselves for it. It’s just pure bigotry against Mormons.

Thats not Bigotry... It is Hyperbole...

Legrande The odds are certainly in my favor : )

Elsie Mathematically speaking; just what ARE the odds??

Very close to infinity to 1.

Legrande That is the point isn't it, that nothing can be known with absolute certainty.

Elsie Are you sure about this statement?

Absolutely : )

Do you know what projection is? You are the one whose only purpose here is to attack Mormon beliefs. The only beliefs that you have expressed are that Mormons are irrational, evil, deluded, etc.

And I said before that you should do your own work and provide your own definition of God. I also said I would wait to see how small a paper-tiger God you put up so that you could knock it down and you have not disappointed. That’s the best you could come up with? The null set?

For something that doesn't exist? Yes of course.

But even there you screwed up, because are you now saying that the null set doesn’t exist? Yup, you are blind to the holes in your own logic.

The concept of something that doesn't exist is entirely distinct from the subject. Do you understand what a symbol is?

I falsely accused you of nothing, you were well aware of what you were trying to do by insuating a cabal existed. Or do you just make empty accusations assuming no one will act on your ego inflated drivel? And I’ve said plenty, it’s your hysteria that is a bit disconcerting.

You falsely accused me of trying to censor you and members of your cabal. Now you falsely accuse me of making empty allegations. The ping list and your groups continued anti Mormon postings are evidence of your cabal.

Cabal? Hmmm, :^{ O

cabal (noun) - a small group of persons joined in a secret, often political, intrigue

I didn't realize Flying Inman opposition to Mormonism was being kept secret! We need to alert the readers at FR to keep this all very hush hush don'tchaknow.

“You falsely accused me of trying to censor you and members of your cabal. Now you falsely accuse me of making empty allegations. The ping list and your groups continued anti Mormon postings are evidence of your cabal.”

This is just too funny. The only reason to use the word “cabal” in a serious discussion is to imply there is a group of people worthy of censure or excommunication:

cabal:
1. a small group of secret plotters, as against a government or person in authority.
2. the plots and schemes of such a group; intrigue.

So let me translate what you are saying. You said:

“You falsely accused me of trying to censor you and members of your cabal.”

What that is equivalent to saying is [You falsely accused me of trying to censor you and members of your ‘small group of secret plotters, as against a government or person in authority.’]

Only the exceptionally dull of wit would not recognize that as a call for censure. It would be like saying “I am not for censoring people who must be censored.” I mean, how long can you avoid realizing how weak are your arguments?

“The concept of something that doesn’t exist is entirely distinct from the subject. Do you understand what a symbol is?”

Apparently I understand a lot better than you. You just said God is the null set. Then you said God does not exist. Therefore what you just implied is the null set does not exist, which invalidates your original definition. It’s this kind of sloppy thinking that permeates your discussions.

Excuse me, but quoting unrelated scripture just makes you look as loony as a moonbat.

It makes it look like you are incapable of independent thought, that you are sheep who quote scripture that you don’t understand. Kinda like how liberals quote leftist dogma that makes no sense.

I believe God is competent enough to reveal His Word wherever and whenever He so chooses for the perfecting of the saints

You are exactly right. You will be held accountable for not receiving His Word.

The Church, since its inception in 1830, has made every effort NOT to be confused with American Protestantism. We are not a church born out of 4th century doctrine, but represent the Church as it existed in Christ’s day. The Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth in its fulness through a Prophet of God. Christ is at its head with Prophets and Apostles- as he said there would be. We hold the Priesthood of God and officiate in the Lord’s Holy House in ordinances that are eternal in nature- sanctioned and sealed by divine authority. We believe we existed with God as His literal spirit children before coming to earth. We believe God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost to be three separate and distinct personages. There is much indeed in which we are different from Protestantism. There is never a time where we as a people have not celebrated Christmas. I don’t even know where you got that one from, unless of course you are confusing us with Jehova’s Witnesses. Now, you may disagree with the doctrine of the Church and have energetic debates on scripture and principle without “picking” on anyone or resorting to lying or slandering as the others have done to make your points. I know the Lord deals intimately with all His children to present the truth to them when they are ready to receive it and that He works actively in everyone’s life to bring that moment to them. Therefore I take every man as he comes and try to see the best in them. I have no patience for liers, however, who make themselves the children of the adversary. You are new to FreeRepublic and it is my hope as you address your differences that we may debate in a civil and by no means dispassionate manner. But that we may do so in a spirit of friendship is my sincere hope.

The Church and the Gospel of Jesus Christ was restored to the earth in its fulness through a Prophet of God. Which immediately implies that the Gospel and all His redemption work was in failure since the death of the last Apostle, in need of 'restoring', a premise both Catholicism and Protestant Orthodoxy would disagree with and a notion which contradicts the clear teaching of the Bible ... and therein is the substance of major opposition to Mormonism. The rest of the high-sounding religious claims of Mormonism rests upon taking the first claim as axiomatic to the following bilge.

Christ is at its[can we assume this poster means 'the LDS church?] head with Prophets and Apostles- as he said there would be. But Mormonism claims this 'Church' was somehow defeated from being with us always as Jesus told us He would be ... this heresy of only LDS having the Apostolic authority of Jesus Christ must first sow a field of doubt into which to seed the heresies. When this heretical religion known as Mormonism claims the Lord Jesus Christ's life giving redemptive work was in need of 'restoring', it is no stretch to claim speciously that He lead their false prophet, proven liar, and diviner of 'manuscripts and treasure'. If you're going to declare a lie, do it boldly seems to be the motto of Smithism.

We hold the Priesthood of God and officiate in the Lord’s Holy House in ordinances that are eternal in nature- sanctioned and sealed by divine authority. This assertion is without proof or merit, but all one needs to see to expose the heresy is to show the false nature of the Book of Mormon --the archaeological evidence is negative, not even neutral, for the fantasies in the BofM, and the genetic evidence links native Americans to the far Eastern races rather than semitic races-- and expose the character of the fabricator of Mormonism and it's fake 'scriptures' like the Book of Abraham.

We believe we existed with God as His literal spirit children before coming to earth.... and Mormonism claims Jesus was created rather than is God from all eternity.

We believe God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost to be three separate and distinct personages.Polytheism.

There is much indeed in which we are different from Protestantism. Actually, there is too much difference to call this religion Christianity.
