A Mormon in the Oval Office?
Washington Post ^ | October 4, 2007 | Robert Novak

Posted on 10/04/2007 9:40:06 AM PDT by greyfoxx39

When Mitt Romney appeared last week (via closed circuit from California) before the Council of Retired Chief Executives meeting in Washington, he faced kindred souls: rich Republicans who had managed big enterprises. Yet the second question from the audience was whether Romney's Mormon faith was hurting his quest for the Republican presidential nomination. He replied that about the only people who brought up his religion were members of the media, an answer that simply is untrue.

Romney is asked about Mormonism wherever he goes. In my travels, I find his religious preference cited everywhere as the source of opposition to his candidacy. His response to the former chief executives that only reporters care about this issue sounded like a politician's tired evasion. Romney was either too obtuse to appreciate his problem or was stalling because he had not determined how to deal with it. Contact with his advisers indicates that it's the latter.

So Orrin Hatch conspiring with a drunken coward to turn the US into a socialist state, a haven for illegal aliens is to be compared to Jesus having fellowship with sinners in order to provide them with guidance?

In your post, you ASSUME you know Orrin’s motivation, and that his motivation is Jesus-like.

I wouldn’t stretch that far for ANY currently serving politician.

Heisenbergs uncertainty principle clearly proves that an omniscient being can't exist.

Are you certain about this??

The odds are certainly in my favor : ) That is the point isn't it, that nothing can be known with absolute certainty.

> The scriptures used by the Mormon Church, as well as their entire curriculum, are open for anyone to see.

This is NOT true!

You will NOT find the content of any of the secret oops, SACRED, Temple Rites there.

I didn't say anything about the temple ordinances. I said the scriptures and the curriculum are available. Those are where you'll find all our doctrine and beliefs.

The temple ordinances are sacred, so they are not revealed to the world. But I can tell you that they don't introduce any new doctrine that isn't found in the scriptures.

> If God wanted to correct mistakes in our current translation of the Bible, how do you propose He should do so?

If God wanted to send a Great Delusion; would do you think He'd do it?

2 Thessalonians 2:11

Can you answer my question? ...or not?

If God should choose to correct the mistakes of men in their handling of His word, i.e. translation mistakes, how do you suppose he would do so?

Do you not believe that every thing you ever did is not recored or a record some where with in your DNA starting from the first progenitor on down to your existance?

That is an interesting question :) All life on earth appears to have descended from a single cell. DNA doesn't seem to control the cell (it is the blueprint for how it is built and operates). Single celled creatures are able to respond appropriately to their environment. So the question is how?

I think Penrose got the answer, Microtubules. We know they are the transport system in cells and they control the functions of the cells. If they contain a wave function that would explain where the cells brain is.

According to Feyman, the wave function has a history, a sum of all paths it is called. So the answer would have to be yes, there is a record from our first progenitor onward : )

This what a true Christian should be doing!

I have all kinds of friends I might not agree with their life style but I know the Lord loves them.

It is best to focus on one aspect of good with in a being dwelling on their short commings is non productive!

I wouldn’t stretch that far for ANY currently serving politician.

****

Than that is a pretty jaded out look and saying the light of Christ is not shinning any where!

Thank you for clarifying that as I tried...

I think I figured out why you call yourself FastCoyote :) It is a synonym for Slick Willy. I also wouldn't be surprised to find that you have always wanted to be a lawyer and if it hadn't been for the grades and tests required to get into law school, you would have made a fine barrister : )

I have given you ample opportunities to express any conviction or belief that you may have and you have steadfastly refused to divulge any belief or foundation that you may have. At first I thought it may have been a debate tactic, but I am now convinced that it is a genuine lack of any core beliefs.

In the interest of friendly compassion may I recommend a web site? ejectejectejct.com Scroll down a long ways to the part on The Remnant and the prisoners dilemma. I promise it is worth your time.

All one can do is try to lead one in the right direction we all have free will!

Just like you, you can say or post very unkind things that are not true but hey that is how you choose to exercise your free will!

“I think I figured out why you call yourself FastCoyote :) It is a synonym for Slick Willy.”

Ummm, no it’s not. Slick Willy is a synonym for LeGrande. Using your technique, since I just made a wild assed conjecture, it must be true.

“I also wouldn’t be surprised to find that you have always wanted to be a lawyer and if it hadn’t been for the grades and tests required to get into law school, you would have made a fine barrister : )”

Ummmm, wrongo again. I have zero desire to be a lawyer and am a techie and businessman, the complete opposite. So again, just pull another monkey out of your butt and away you go to the Land of Oz.

“I have given you ample opportunities to express any conviction or belief that you may have and you have steadfastly refused to divulge any belief or foundation that you may have.”

Last I checked, the ball was in your court. You claimed to have a Quantum Mechanics disproof of the existence of God that you called trivially easy. We are all still waiting, waitng, waiting, waiting.

“At first I thought it may have been a debate tactic, but I am now convinced that it is a genuine lack of any core beliefs.”

That accusation, coming from a Jack Mormon atheist must be the laugh of the day.

“In the interest of friendly compassion may I recommend a web site? ejectejecteject.com Scroll down a long ways to the part on The Remnant and the prisoners dilemma. I promise it is worth your time”

Turned out it was a waste of my time, a bunch of psychodrivel. Here’s a much more fun site for you:

http://www.wheeloffortune.com/index.php

Maybe you will get lucky there after spouting so many misconceptions here.

Still waiting for your Quantum Mechanics thesis that completely annihilates all other thought.

For someone who didn't want to be silenced and who loves to attack and condemn Mormons for their beliefs, you are ominously quiet when it comes to expressing your beliefs. So why do you get so bent out of shape when we have to guess what you believe?

Last I checked, the ball was in your court. You claimed to have a Quantum Mechanics disproof of the existence of God that you called trivially easy. We are all still waiting, waitng, waiting, waiting.

So apparently you agree with my definition of God? I have asked you repeatedly for your definition and you have failed to give it.

My definition of God is the null set, it doesn't exist. So by definition God doesn't exist.

Still waiting to see if you have any beliefs? Apparently not. What is the difference between being silenced and saying nothing? You falsely accused me of wanting to silence you and now you have nothing to say.

The scriptures used by the lord’s Church, as well as their entire curriculum, are open for anyone to see and the reverent temple going LDS is able to discern by the Power of the Holy Ghost from whence his covenants is drawn!

The Temple Rites® are NOT found in ANY LDS organizational liturature: they are MAN-MADE Doctrines.

IMHO, anyone who will NOT handle snakes is lacking in faith and does NOT believe in the Book they claim to 'believe' in!

Are you sure about this statement?
