'No homosexuals in Iran': Ahmadinejad

NEW YORK (AFP) — Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad skirted a question about the treatment of homosexuals in Iran on Monday, saying in a speech at a top US university that there were no gays in Iran.

"In Iran we don't have homosexuals like in your country," Ahmadinejad said to howls and boos among the Columbia University audience.

"In Iran we do not have this phenomenon, I don't know who has told you that we have it," he said.

Ahmadinejad was challenged during his appearance on Amnesty International figures that suggested that 200 people had been executed in Iran so far this year, among them homosexuals.

"Don't you have capital punishment in the United States? You do too. In Iran there is capital punishment," he said.

I was watching the local news tonight on KGO in San Francisco. What was hilarious was that they never once mentioned Ahmedinejad’s outrageous statement about there not being any gays in Iran anywhere in their newscast.

This is why the MSM is dying. Slowly but steadily, their credibility is undermined when individual viewers finally notice the discrepancy between what the media reports and what they personally know to be true. In this case, the Columbia story was bound to have been known all over SF, so KGO's omitting it was a huge tactical error.

And there were “no Americans at the Bagdhad airport” either.

Pay attention to EXACTLY what he is saying.

Does he speak English now, or is the quote through a translator?

BTW, I've seen the quote cited two ways--with and without the comma, something very important in the meaning.

Those who deny deny deny are the ones that are closeted gays.

Besides, in the Arab world, men use women ONLY for procreation. The men use men and boys for sexual pleasure. Many many Iraqies have told me on many occassions.

Kossacks is too dignified a term to use for those losers, try “Kossuckers” instead.

In Iran they seem to be practicing just the opposite: Love the sin, hate the sinner.

When you post to someone and something they wrote....try to read what they wrote.

I believe I wrote twice that I did not advocate killing gays.

It’s pure nonsense to suggest I did.

But as usual on FR, social moderates...our resident high and mighties run with their imagination and don’t let reality get in the way of a good kumbaya preen.

“Like in your country” could mean “they are different from the homos in your country”.

I suspect that that is what he meant. Persian culture does not celebrate/promote homosexuality as “diversity” like we do here.

I strongly suspect there are no television channels devoted to homosexuals in Iran, and very few “gay pride” parades!!

I do not have a problem with cultures that discourage homosexuality

My point is that Islam DOES NOT discourage homosexuality. Perversely, it encourages it, by forcing women indoors and under cover and making it illegal, punishable by death, to even flirt in public.

So what happens is that , theres this culture of men having sex with other men and boys in order to let off steam from the repression of the official culture. Read some of the other posts. This form of repressive Islam creates a prison culture filled with homosexual relations, mostly between older and younger men. Sick, perverted and rampant.
