Defeatist Dems Won't Hear Of Victory In Iraq
IBD ^ | September 12, 2007 | Thomas Sowel

Sometimes I feel I must be one of the few people left in America who is not a military expert. For example, all sorts of politicians have been talking about all sorts of ways we ought to "redeploy" our troops. The closest I ever came to deploying troops was marching a company of Marines to the mess hall for chow.

But people who have never even put on a uniform are confident they know how our troops should be redeployed. Maybe this is one of the fruits of the "self-esteem" that is taught in our schools instead of education.

The biggest flurry of amateur military pronouncements occurred just before Gen. David Petraeus testified before Congress on the situation in Iraq. Many Democrats publicly dismissed what he said before he said it, and some implied that he was a liar before he opened his mouth.

The real problem is that many Democrats have bet the rent money on an American defeat in Iraq, and without that defeat they could find themselves in big trouble in the 2008 elections.

The Commie ‘RATS will settle for nothing less than total defeat of America in the War on Terror. They are cowardly bass turds. “Patriotic” troop supporters but cowardly still.

Dennis Miller nailed it as well just now on O Reilly-

Concerning these people “ Contrarianism is Creativity for the Untalented”

I think that shall be my new tag line

Only after congressional politicians pulled the rug out from under them by cutting off financial aid, while their enemies were still receiving financial aid from other countries, did South Vietnam fall to the invaders.

There is a new and emerging country within the borders of the USofA. It is called DEMOCRATLAND (just like Iceland, Finland, New Zealand, etc.) DEMOCRATLAND has it own population and borders. Every precinct that votes democrap and the people in that precinct that vote democrap are citizens of this new nation within a nation. The democraps hate the USofA, they hate the USofA military, they hate our religion, they hate everything about the USofA. What are the American citizens going to do about these traitors?

Because of age limitations (I wasn’t alive during WWII) the only experience I’ve ever had of Democratic congressmen speaking as military “experts” has been of them condemning and foredooming our military efforts, thereby aiding the enemy with this world-trumpeted defeatism, then spinning that as “truth” for us peons, then pronouncing us as war-weary when what we are is weary of their constant one-sided harping, and then cutting funding and running from the enemy and abandoning our friends to whatever consequences ensue and blaming that on the judgment of the popularly elected President that they authorized to conduct this war. Allies would do well to avoid collaboration with us when a Republican leads the charge.

Nailed it. They're toast in 08.

I don't get the Dems' reasoning (yeah I know that's on oxymoron) on Iraq--why push for defeat when success is achievable? Why do they discredit a 4-star General who KNOWS what he's talking about since he's actually over there and not bloviating in Congress?! Oh and did I mention his approval ratings are roughly 4 times higher than Congress'?

The dems and defeatists have bet the farm against our troops.

BIG mistake.

They have undermined our troops, well, the troops are going to undermine the dems by doing what the dems said couldn’t be done.

“Democrats have bet the rent money on an American defeat in Iraq, and without that defeat they could find themselves in big trouble in the 2008 elections.”

If the Dems are patient, though, I’m afraid their Iraq bet will pay off. With Islam, as with most things, one should never underestimate the power of large groups of amazingly stupid people. I grew up believing what I was taught - Progress, progress, progress. Medical progress, technological progress, scientific progress, financial progress, educational progress, human progress, all progressing, ever upward and onward. Arab Muslims seem to often disagree. Too many of them squat over on their vast, sandblown oil fortunes and patiently explain that is is the Great and Powerful Allah’s will that they behead those who dare decry Islam’s innate viciousness, and that polio is the gift of Allah, whilst childhood vaccinations are the curse of the Great Satan.

Unlike the Democrats, I haven’t given up, and, if I dare say, like Churchill, I won’t give up. I believe I can see light at the end of the tunnel, but Iraq seems to be placed well before the end of that tunnel.

Lawyers are running the government, and their hubris knows no bounds. They will pronounce on what science is and how war is waged. Unfortunately, all their hot air doen’t amount to much, as the lady testifying on product safety today showed. Who needs them, anyway? Mattel is handling that problem fine. Don’t vote for lawyers!

“confident they know how our troops should be redeployed”

The dems have no clue what an actual redeployment is.

To deploy is to land in a new AOR and fight. To redeploy is to move from one AOR to another and fight.

To the nonmilitary, every time you hear the word redeploy from a politician, consider the meaning to be withdraw, especially if the battle is going well.

I am not a military expert either and I have never commanded men – sometimes even my wife won’t do what I tell her to but I do know that when our guys are dying that we should do what’s necessary to win as quickly as possible with force as necessary.

Personally I think we turned Iraq over to the Iraqis way too soon. We lost our advantage of overwhelming force when we turned over political control to the Iraqis.

Maybe its not too late to change our minds – tell ‘m our guys are dying while they’re screwing around and since their government is stalled they can start over with a copy of our current Constitution and Bill of Rights and substitute “Iraq” where indicated.

Let the Iraqis vote on that.

They could do worse – Keeping Religion out of their government would be big improvement all by itself. Of that I am certain.

Just a thought – ;-)
