No, I see your point. I think in someone’s zeal to make the whole page more “Spanish reader friendly”, they went over the top by changing the language of a VERY official US seal. Do I think it was some deliberate attempt to undermine our autonomy, etc. etc.? No. Was it incredibly stupid and NOT thought through on their part.

I started out on THOMAS.gov and still ended up on a page with the seal altered.

I don’t mind information for visitors in other languages, that’s polite and good for business.

I object to alterations of the Great Seal of the United States. That’s illogical, wasteful, and can’t be good for our legal standing as a sovereign Nation.

If it’s not illegal, it most certainly should be.

Yep. Saw this the other day. We're FINISHED with them at my house as with most of our clan. I've been ranting for weeks now that if one of the three current GOP front runners makes it to the 2008 Presidential ballot, that the GOP will "toss" the Presidency to Hillary Clinton. With things like what's at the top of this thread, what's the damned difference at this point?...DNC-RNC...what's the friggin difference?

It’s the spanish translation of the U.S. Gov website. If you look above the seal, you see a link for English. They didn’t change the official seal to a spanish verison....sheesh.....all excited before looking closer...

Are you effing kidding me!? Look AGAIN! Sure looks like spanish to me.

It is one thing to render a web page in another language for foreign visitors or people. But quite another to adulterate the Great Seal of the United States with a language it was never designed with. We speak English in this country; our founding documents were written in ENGLISH, the Great Seal was written in ENGLISH. I can see a mouse over pop up with a translation, but to alter the seal is an abomination.

What's next, altering the inscriptions on the Lincoln and Jefferson memorials to read in spanish?
