The Birth of al Qaedastan

In the year 2016, the world may find itself gloomily marking September 6 as the tenth anniversary of the creation of the Islamic Emirate of Waziristan. The Emirate received de facto recognition when the Taliban used the name on the ceasefire agreement they signed with Pakistan on that day in 2006. If things go terribly wrong in the coming decade, they could come to rule a mountainous fragment of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

The Emirate would be a nightmare state: Osama bin Laden as sultan, Ayman al Zawahiri as vizier, and Mullah Omar the spiritual leader. An economy built on smuggling and heroin. Primary export: terrorism. Welcome to ‘Al Qaedastan’.

Analysts say the rise of a terrorist state straddling the rugged area between Pakistan and Afghanistan is now viable. The reason is a number of troubling trends. One, the revival of a Taliban firmly in the control of Al Qaeda. Two, the seeming inability of either Kabul or Islamabad to defeat the new threat militarily. Glad to be back, especially in light of the news. Mr. RR is traveling one day behind me, so he’ll be back tomorrow. RR Jr. leaves for China on Sunday...........I don’t like it much, but, Oh well.

Regarding UBL’s new black beard. I seem to recall reading somewhere, sometime, that Muslims forbid dyeing their hair except when they are counting on a little “Jihad” action. This may have been posted here already, but I haven’t caught up yet.

Sidenote: Security and International Customs at Dulles was especially tight this morning. They went through everything! I didn’t know why until I got to the Red Carpet Club and a TV. There were lots of grouchy passengers, but I was glad to see it.

I think that, contrary to the analyst’s assessments, this IS a signal to attack.

1. Invitation to convert: “Installation of worldwide caliphate. The invitation to convert to Islam is mandated in Koran. Invite the enemy to convert before you attack.”

2. The claim that islamists don’t kill innocents...here’s the explanation and justification for murdering millions of innocents:

“Then you claim to be innocent! The innocence of yours is like my innocence of the blood of your sons on the 11th — were I to claim such a thing.”

3. The next attack will be nuclear:
“Bin Laden comes close to offering a date for the tape with this by saying, “... just a few days ago, the Japanese observed the 62nd anniversary of the annihilation of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by your nuclear weapons.” The anniversary was on August 6”

I haven’t posted up my link set yet because I am still looking around.

Things that concerned me and/or I noted.

1. His beard is a signal that he is a young, strong lion in my opinion.
That MAY indicate he’s ready for battle and/or to lead a battle and/or to continue the battle.

2. His invitation to islam (that’s not a good thing to hear from a jihadi).

3. He’a a puke and an icon for the AQ gangbangers, but his message can and probably will inspire jihadis/jihadi wannabes/jihadi supporters — even if they don’t agree with him on all things.

Sadly, I agree with you. While I’ve only been back for a few hours to hear the so-called analysts, I think most of them are really trying to down play the ramifications of UBL’s message.

No need to panic the populace......they need to go to Wal-Mart and support the economy........../sarc.

I have not yet read the transcript, which I am about to do... things that stood out to me in articles about:

Mention that Democrats won but have not changed anything — this seems important to me because it might very well be further justification for the attack planned against America. If his followers were under the impression that it was just the Republicans out to get them he is re-assuring them that it is indeed all Americans.

The fact that we are not innocent — as the enemies of Israel call them all legitimate targets due to serving in the military, we see bin Laden declaring us soldiers due to our “funding” and “support” for a war against Muslims. Since we are not innocent, we are legitimate targets.

I think it’s a whole out fake.

He talks about how the muslims protect the jews and how Kennedy was assassinated by US corporations because of his opposition to the war. Rambles on about global warming and the poor Africans. It may very well be a signal. But I think it’s a fake. The real one might come out on 9/11.

After reading OBL’s rambling missive, three things jump out at me.

1. Attack on the ‘capitolists’. This has its parallels in the attacks on the twin towers. It would infer from the vitriol against it that OBL still wants to target the US financial center(s), probably New York, as he sees them as the ones motivating the war against him.

2. Disposing of our Democratic system. The target that he couldn’t reach on 9/11 - the White House and the Capitol - both symbols of our democracy.

3. The on the side reference to the anniversary of the use of the atomic bomb against Japan. Its context is the ‘genocide’ of non-islamics (the West) against peoples of the world/ N. America. With the concerns of his getting his hands on a nuke(s), it presence is potentially significant. Others have noticed this too, an I’m going to go back and try to wade through it in a little more detail.

A major attack would significantly impact our economy again as it is in its most fragile condition since 9/11 due to the subprime crisis. Thus conditions are ripe to attempt to duplicate the effects that 9/11 created. If nuclear, the ramifications could be severe.
