>the blogosphere is buzzing.<
Thank you, Walter. Wonderful news!
Actually it’s the other way around. The grassroots actually are the crazies, and always have been. But I give them credit for being the loudest, the most loyal, and the most persistent in getting disaffected dems, and other non-voting independents into their camp.
Proctectionist? What an uneducated remark! Keep it to yourself, bill.
It is that, but I have lost my taste for it. Most of the Paul supporters on FR are not representative of Paul supporters at large. The arguments for Paul on FR are at odds with those presented on other forums.
I know you can’t blame a man for those who support him, but then, when he comes off as unattached from reality as they, then it becomes open for discussion.
If asked about 9-11 and WTC 7, you don’t answer by saying, “yes we need to investigate it”, if you’re sane. You state emphatically and categorically that it is moronic to believe such 911 conspiracy lunacy, and stop all such harangue in its tracks. Paul entertained the notion, and therefore, made his own bed.
THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!
DUNCAN HUNTER WILL BE SPEAKING IN SUPPORT OF OUR TROOPS!

The old media will try to ignore you,but we won't.

Ron Paul would get more democrat votes in that scenario, I think.
Anti-war retreaters, non-comfortist youth, and conspiracy-minded anti-establishment types usually fall under the dominion of the Dems when forced to choose between R and D. And that also happens to be the Ron Paul base.
So, Ron Paul going third party might actually help Fred Thompson and hurt Hillary in that scenario. Maybe him going 3rd party aint so bad after all...
>The main thing is that this will perhaps give Hunter much needed media coverage.<
20 minutes into his program Lou Dobbs hasn’t mentioned the Texas Straw Poll yet. I’ve emailed everyone I know the good news. Busy addressing mailers for Hunter this afternoon.
Hang in there, Rep. Hunter. People who see and hear you know immediately that you are The Man! :)
Well, we don’t agree here. It is ok. I have dinner to go check on. ciao.
Could be, but a lot of his positions are staunchly conservative and so the paleoconservative Buchananite wing of the party, which does vote Republican more often, would also be drawn off.
Would the anti-war movement be willing to accept a guy like Paul, and more important, would they go to the polls to vote for him? Especially since they were burned by Nader/Gore a few years back.
You bring up a good point, but I think it would probably be a split.
Wow, talk about the fallacy of small numbers...
LOL. Now we have a problem. Who would be a good VP for Hunter?
..Marsha Blackburn
My choice for vp would be John Bolton. Not a chance though.
It will take a horrific event on the order of 9/11 or greater to cause that to happen.
I do think eventually it will, unfortunately. I see no real sustained effort by the world’s “moderate” muslims to bring their zealous fellow believers to heel.
Ya gotta wonder what he thinks when he sees that.
Yes, he would siphon off the more conservative libertarians and paleos, but I think the net effect would either be in our favor, or pretty much even.
I don’t think he has the charisma or media “presence” to mount a 3rd party run that garners more than 4% of the national vote. His supporters get more press than he does.
But, we’ll see how he does in the primaries and what he plans to do from then on. At the moment I think he’s a non-factor, and despite what many paulites insist, i don’t think the “GOP Elite” are concerned about him at all.
LOL. Now we have a problem. Who would be a good VP for Hunter?
