McLean, VA On September 6, 2007, Fred Thompson will be announcing his intention to run for President of the United States with a webcast available to millions at www.imwithfred.com. The launch of the video will be followed by a five-day campaign tour through Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina.
I believe that there are millions of Americans who know that our security and prosperity are at risk if we dont address the challenges of our time; the global threat of terrorism; taxes and spending that will bankrupt future generations, and a government that cant seem to get the most basic responsibilities right for its citizens, stated Fred Thompson.
The response that weve received makes me confident that we have an opportunity to change politics in Washington and across the country, and take on these challenges the way every generation of Americans has faced the challenges of their time with unity, hard work and a belief that we will come out on the winning side, continued Thompson.
We enter this campaign in a strong position, said committee manager Bill Lacy. Fred is consistently near the top in the polls, and conservatives across the country have put together the closest thing to a draft in recent presidential campaign history in an effort to bring about this day. The next few weeks will only serve to build upon those efforts, with house parties nationwide on the 6th, and visits to the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, quickly followed by stops in Florida and a homecoming in Lawrenceburg, TN on the 15th.
By announcing via webcast, Fred is able to take his consistently mainstream conservative message directly to the voters, who are already responding to that message with a strong upwelling of grassroots support. The webcast and the following campaign tour will play to Freds strengths, a consistent record of conservatism, his ability to clearly spread his message, and his ability to work with and connect with Americans from all walks of life, said Lacy.
The committee will file our formal paperwork with the Federal Elections Commission within 15 days, the time allowed by law after Fred decided to run. Additionally, we will begin to consider candidate based events following Freds broadcast on September 6, 2007.

Pissant, when Fred gets the nomination, what will you do? I think your loyalty to Hunter is admirable, but even the loyal must be realistic.
..what a cheap shot
I plan on supporting Hunter as long as he is in the race. And talking to him, he certainly does not sound like he is going to be dropping out. I will worry about putting on a GOP hat after I remove my conservative hat....after the primaries.
I don’t mind the cheap shot speculation as much as the blatant ignorance of the man’s record and history. Hence, we gotta keep telling his story.
***********
That makes sense.
You are a one note wonder.
I am so glad the adults always manage to be in charge.
“Since when is giving someone hope that they might someday become citizens the same as granting them amnesty?”
When you preface it by making a point of saying we have to figure out who’s here first because you’re specifically opposed to giving ALL of them (blanket) amnesty.
You mean after the session with the candidates sitting patiently while some network anchor tosses out a question and then waits for each one of them to get their two minutes of face time to answer it?
He'll do one of those in late September. I probably won't even watch it, like I haven't watched any up until now. I think I have a LOT of company in that regard, so it just goes to show, what passes for debates this early are just not that important.
Not quite. Fred says that we need to reinforce the borders in order to stop the flow of illegals coming in. He also believes that the laws regarding illegal immigration should be enforced. If they are, millions will just decide to go back from where they came before they can be deported.
With the flow coming in stopped, and those in the country leaving of their own accord, there are fewer with whom we'd have to deal. There may be some who can work their way into citizenship. This is all Fred is saying.
“There may be some who can work their way into citizenship. This is all Fred is saying.”
Yeah? If that’s the method he’ll propose, it’s called earned AMNESTY! Same as what Bush/Kennedy/McCain were trying to pull off.... it’s SHAMNESTY.
No more shamnesty Presidents.
“I interpreted that as meaning that we had to figure that out so that we could ship them back to get started on the legal road to citizenship.”
You must have missed the part where he says that rounding them up and shipping them back is NOT going to happen.
“Remember that part about not making it easier for them than the ones pursuing citizenship legally?”
Of course I do. Actually, he said:
“but not make it so easy that it’s unfair to the people waiting in line and abiding by the law.”
“So easy” and “unfair” are subjective. Bush thought learning English, paying fines and back taxes made ‘earned citizenship’ difficult and fair. Pence thought his ‘touchback’ scheme was fair. And both said their plans were not amnesty.
I can see I’m talking to a brick wall here. You are going to believe whatever you want. Too bad your candidate is so weak that you feel you have to resort to phony arguments in an attempt to tear down the only one who has a prayer of getting elected.
You must have mistaken me for someone who doesn’t take seriously the sovereignty and security of our country. I won’t settle and will oppose anyone who does.
#111 was helpful as to more sources, which was all I wanted in the first place. Thank you. Would have been nice if that was the first reply I got from you.
He’s not real specific about deporting ALL of them, and he doesn’t have that on his website.
His statements are pretty generic. Not specific.
You want Fred to be specific when he deals in principles, I don’t see anything that different or perfect about Duncan Hunter. Ask them to leave? Shoo them out? Lame reply.
“Rank stupidity has invaded FR.”
That’s your genre.
I guess we'll just have to wait and see what his proposal will be. I'm not looking for a purist who wants to start loading up buses tomorrow. That's not practical, and most Americans wouldn't support it. I'm looking for a candidate who is a realist, who understands that there really IS a problem, and is truly looking for a way to SOLVE the problem, not try to get political brownie points for mouthing off about it.
If there are families who have been here many years, and have been working hard to try to better themselves, I have no problem with giving them a path to citizenship. They'll make better citizens than some folks who were born here, but whose families have been mired in poverty and the welfare culture for so long, that they don't seem to have any desire to get out of it.
“If there are families who have been here many years, and have been working hard to try to better themselves, I have no problem with giving them a path to citizenship.”
Oh SuziQz....lol...another pro-amnesty freeper hiding behind the so-called ‘no amnesty’ Fred!
Attrition through enforcement.
Illegal aliens are ILLEGAL. No Amnesty.
Give it a rest.
