Universal Housing
Its time that America stop being so greedy and take care of its people better. Right now there is a crisis which affects tens of millions of Americans who are trying to improve their lives. They are not getting the most basic of needs. Often they have to decide between food and this other need. Often they cannot afford both. Its disgusting that in a country so full of wealth that there are still people who dont own their own home!! All across America, real estate costs have increased so much that some Americans will never have the peace of mind of owning their homes. Some people are forced to live in tiny little condos where they have to convert a couch into a bed just to make room. Can you imagine raising a family in such terrible conditions!?!?
Meanwhile, greedy businessman have been building and buying up more and more multi-family housing units and renting them to the poor at confiscatory prices. The lords arent interested in the people who live in their rented apartments, they are only interested in the money they can make off the poor. They even make the poor sign an agreement that they HAVE to stay in that apartment for a specified time(usually one year). Sometimes the renter has some unforeseen expense arise that prevents them from being able to make the blackmail payments. But if they dont dutifully pay their extortionist rent fees to the owner, then the owner of the property can legally throw the poor out of their home and sue an already-penniless man for the unpaid rent. Often these liabilities prevent the poor evicted people from ever being able to save enough money to buy their own home. Many have to declare bankruptcy to get a fresh start.
On average, Americans spend more on their home than any other expense. It simply is costing way to much financial strain on the middle and lower classes. It is time that we do something about it. We should turn over the business of real estate ownership to the federal government.
I propose that we adopt a Universal Housing Plan. This way, if someone cannot afford a home they will be given one by the federal government. -One that is taken by the government from some of these greedy bastards who own thousands of them. An entire new federal department will need to be created, of course, which will employ thousands of people who will finally be free of the financial strain of having to pay rent to their land LORDS. No longer will all of the other industries in America have the disadvantage of having to pay a wage sufficient enough for the employee to afford a home. The employee would then be able to use his earnings to ensure his family gets fed.
The costs that make real estate so expensive would be eliminated by a single issuer real estate program. Instead of thousands of greedy Americans running around taking their unethical practice of getting a cut of the action on every single real estate transaction, the government will do that for people free-of-charge. The dollars that are no longer being fleeced off the system by real estate agents would be able to be reinvested in improving the homes of the people to which the government gives them.
Just think With all of those savings just by eliminating real estate agents and getting rid of the evil property speculators, every American could live in a mansion for what we are paying now!!!
America could keep costs down through price controls and making sure that all contractors in the building business cannot charge more for their services than a pre-set price. This will of course make the business of home improvements cheaper because greedy contractors who only want to quench their obscene appetite for profit would have to go somewhere else like Costa Rica. Also, if one of the good-hearted contractors screws up on a home improvement, the homeowners wont be able to sue him for damages. And since all of the home improvement contractors would be employees of the federal government, the elimination of the costs associated with civil lawsuits would be eliminated too because, as the old saying goes, You cannot sue the king. It would also provide great job security to those who are in the home improvement field. The savings alone from eliminating the costs of incorrectly practicing a particular profession could pay for homes for everybody in the entire state of Nebraska!
What good is a house over your head if you cannot afford it? We should make sure, through federal government takeover, that all Americans be covered with a roof over their heads. America has enough wealthy people from whom we can get the necessary funds to do it. If America finally doesnt begin to take care of its poor, I think I am going to move to France where it costs just as much to be given a flat overlooking the Arc de Triumph as it does to be given a home in Giverny. Both places are free!!!
Of course, we must guard against the law of unintended consequences. If we do accomplish the government takeover of the real estate business and housing is then administered by the government at no cost to the end user, then we are likely going to be swamped by people who will try to illegally cross our borders to avail themselves of our new entitlement program. Ive heard reports that some aliens will cross the border just in time to ensure their children are born in the US thereby making them a US citizen who can get a free house in which his entire family then can live. Im not sure how to deal with this problematic affect of my proposal but Im against anyone being denied coverage over their head.
During the legislative process that this proposal will undergo, it is very important that we attack anyone who opposes this government takeover by calling them heartless and greedy. Remember, our side is right because we care more. We simply want everyone to have a home and not worry about the costs associated with it. Isnt that a noble and compassionate goal? Lets get an incredibly obese man to make a propaganda video helping us sell our idea by interviewing homeless people.
Universal Housing Plan. -Utopia by government mandate. I like the sounds of that.
Next week Ill share with you my plans for ensuring every American has another vital need free-of-charge; food. And Im sure that if we socialized our educational system in America we could lead the word with our test scores. And of course, in most of America you cant get to work without a car, so . -And spinners on all of the rims to help with self esteem. We also need cell phones for safety. And a one month vacation every year for mental health.
If the government is the answer, it must have been a stupid question. -RR

AH, COMMUNISM AT ITS’BEST. WEIRDO.
I believe that our government should provide every homeless person with his/her own personal yurt; oh, and a bicycle, too.
Give your house to a needy person. You’ll feel better.
Hey, what about universal European vacations while you’re at it?
And sports cars, I’e always wanted a sports car.

If you want affordable housing...eliminate property taxes and school taxes for those that don’t have children. Then create a minimal insurance policy for homeowners that contains actual coverage. Make it manditory. Make it cover only the cost of rebuilding the property and not the total cost of land + rebuilding. Make it so the insurance companies pay no matter what (within reason). Make the insurance tied to the property instead of the individual, so that the property will always be insured no matter who owns it or who owns the note. Then you will have affordable housing for all.
Gee, do you think it might be because of your goofy ideas?
Well done, Sir. As Rush would say “Illustrating absurdity by being absurd”.
It seems some have trouble understanding your sarcastic view.
Good piece. (:
In before the ZOT!!!
Did I call this one right?
Often they have to decide between food and this other need. Often they cannot afford both. Its disgusting that in a country so full of wealth that there are still people who dont own their own home!!
Then why are the majority of our poor seriously overweight?
If you support universal housing, come and take my house, if you can.
I can’t stand it when folks don’t read the whole thing and then get reactionary. Argghh...
Comprehension is our friend.
Only in America, Most of these people would not be forced to make a decision if they didn`t go into debt on luxery items. They want to see poor go to any other nation on earth and see what being poor is really about. It certainly isn`t about having to eat generic food or skipping a meal because money is tight. It is not about being late on rent because you HAD to make a payment on your CC that is maxed on brand name clothing and 4 TVs in your apartment.
Get a grip people.
Just a note I am not totally heartless, I do feel some responsibility to the truely destitute in this country like the people who because of education/ties are stuck in dead towns and need a hand. You can be damn sure there aren`t poor up in the Ozarks with bling.
Yep, although the mods may keep this one alive for a bit - just to play with it!
