Conservatives DUMP Senator Larry Craig, for sticking fingers under a bathroom stall wall.

Posted on 08/30/2007 7:50:09 PM PDT by pacificus

I read the transcript of the Larry Graig interview with the Minnesota police.

I don't like what I'm hearing from other conservatives. The liberals see a cheap Senate seat and you want to give it to them because a guy moved two fingers under the stall wall in an airport bathroom.

If they had the guy on tape asking for sex, paying for sex, or photographed in the act, or any other physical proof, then I would say that looks very very bad and he should go.

But that is not the case.

This is very lame, and those of you who have never had a disagreement with a law enforecement officer should hope that a cop never accuses you of something. Because by your own action, your professional career, and or political career, should be forit, merely on the word of the officer with no physical proof or corroborating evidence.

Those of you who pass judgement, on Larry Craig, merely on the heresay and liberal spin that has been run in the press, should be ashamed.

This is Idaho.

The only way Democrats can steal this senate seat is with Craig as the nominee.

He needs to step down.

You have a legitimate point.

True, true.

I originally thought he’d been charged with solicitation or something like that, but come to find out it’s disturbing the peace or something?!

I can totally see why he’d plead guilty to THAT charge without a lawyer, since apparently he caused a fuss when the cop arrested him. But it does seem this guy is being railroaded not only by the MSM, the demmies, and the republicans as well!

Oh, to have been a fly on the wall...

I really think this should be left to the voters of Idaho to decide what to do with Craig. The man has “issues”. Hubby suggested that all Craig has to do is come out of closet and announce he’s switching parties and this will be such a non-issue.

Yeah we all run our fingers along the bottom of those bathroom stalls.

He already pled guilty to a crime in the bathroom.

Sorry, but that is the common “signal” between pervs in men’s rooms, plus there have been rumors about him for years. Unless the cop is lying, he should go.

No way. If Craig...who has endured gay rumors for years...weren't guilty he wouldn't have pleaded guilty. An innocent, straight have been outraged at such an accusation and would have fought tooth and nail to protect his reputation. Larry Craig quietly pled guilty and hoped nobody would find out. The fact that he didn't even hire an attorney speaks volumes to me.

I'm sick and tired of the scandal and corruption coming from the GOP side of both Houses. I say it's well past time to clean house. Didn't we learn anything from the Mark Foley fiasco last year? Kick the scum out and replace them with honest, decent real conservatives.

Craig is being dumped because he plead guilty when he should have fought tooth and nail for acquittal.

Unless there’s some statute that says you can’t put your hand below the divider in a bathroom stall, Craig should never have been questioned by the police. He’s not my rep so I really don’t care about any “proclivities” he may have. Unless he actually does something illegal, this sort of crap shouldn’t be making headlines anywhere.

The whole point of electing honest, virtuous men is that they can resist things such as bribery and blackmail. Now most politicians are neither honest nor virtuous, but we need to do the best we can.

Craig needs to go. He’s up for re-election so it’s time for him to stop thinking of himself and clear the way for new blood. Take it from me, I live in MA. I know what it’s like to live with a disgrace of a senator!

Based upon the ‘report’ I think the voters need more than just what has been presented thus far to demonstrated that Craig was really tapping his toes.

Now if there is a provable known history then that is another thing but I didn’t hear an acknowledgment of solicitation out of anything, what I did hear was a willingness to pay a fine and get on the next plane.

Then again I really would not know how to know if what has been described as breaking whatever law there is said to have been broken.

C'mon! You're being extremely naive. I'll tell you what...if any guy sticks his hand under the stall while I'm using the facilities he's gonna loose the use of that arm!

But did you HEAR the interview between the police officer and Larry Craig?

You’re going to think I’m joking, but I was at the YMCA earlier tonight and some guy was playing AM radio in the locker room (the Sean Hannity show was on) while I was using the restroom.

I purposely took my time in the restroom so I could hear the entire interview - it seemed to go on forever.

Craig does not sound very convincing on these tapes.

You need to hear this, not just read it, IMO.

I’ve been baffled by this too, watching it unfold. For a good 24-48 hours all we heard was the law enforcement’s view of events, and even that seemed just stupid at best. Just from that everyone was already throwing the guy under the bus. After learning more, it’s obvious that this guy has been made out to be some kind of perverted ass pirate for moving his foot the wrong way and lowering his hand after someone lured him to put it down there.

It’s all really crazy, whether the man is really gay or not...

He pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. Give me a break. That charge probably would not have stuck had he had a lawyer.

The good people of Idaho will resolve this issue. I am so sick and tired of Republicans dumping their own solely on the bases of the liberal media.

Mark Levin said the GOP is under attack and we have to stand together.

I agree that the "evidence" described in the interview with the detective is slim. This is the kind of charge that would have easily been defeated by a lawyer.

Senator Craig should have just said, this is ridiculous, I'm not guilty, you are mistaken, I want to speak with a lawyer. And then hire a very good lawyer.

The charge would have never made it to court. Oh sure, there would have been papparazzi who appeared at the court case and tabloid news stories.

But ultimately, this detective could never have convicted the Senator of anything sexual from the description he gave. Now the cat's out of the bag. And you know cats.
