Absolute vanity about tattoos.
Posted on 08/28/2007 9:06:17 PM PDT by ozaukeemom
Over the years, I have thought about getting a tattoo. Surprising considering my fear of needles! lol I see them everywhere on every classs of person, I see the artwork vary from onr body to another. What causes someone to decide to have a tattoo. Is it cultural? Is it a fad? I am seriously thinking about it now. Any stories, suggestions? Thank you!

I have to admit I had not thought of that! lol More like something to do with my son, or my grandmother whom I lost many years ago. As I said I am thinking of it, but not certain. I am not a young person so am very aware of how the shape might change! lol
I truly enjoy the varied responses and opinions. FR is a glut of information. I truly appreciate it all!

Dad, is that you?
I concur with your opinion entirely. My Dad goes one step further: Famously, when my Mom was contemplating piercing her ears, my father suggested that she “put a bone in her nose” as well. :0)

I know. Reading leaves less obvious signs of permanent damage. Unless it is Henri Bergson’s philosophy.

Not even our minister could get me to take the stamp, and the owner refused to let me in without it.. Say! Didn't I run into you over at one of the "Even Saying the Words 'Harry Potter' Will Cause Every Child in the World to Turn into a Satan-Worshiping Demon!" threads?

Seems the local thugs were all getting tattoos with Chinese characters because it allegedly made them look tough but, of course, none of them knew a word of Chinese.Sometimes when I see a girl with a "tramp stamp" of an obviously Asian character, I'll ask her if she knows what that means in English? Invariably, she'll answer something like, "It's Chinese for 'Love'". To which I reply, "No it's not! It's Vietnamese for 'Target acquired'"!
Nothing says "I am a slut" like a tattoo on the butt!

I do work with people who have tattoos. None are blatant or crass. Each one has a story.A girl who used to work for me had a tattoo of a can of Spam on her calf. No joke!

Im not sure about whether this carries over as a rule for Christian believers, but OT Law was pretty clear: Leviticus 19:28 - Do not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORD. (NIV) And yet the passage right before that is violated every morning. 19:27 Ye shall not round the corners of your heads, neither shalt thou mar the corners of thy beard.

To me, the only excuse for having a tatoo is being a young, dumb and drunken serviceman. (Then you’ll regret it later).

Sen. Craig should get a tattoo on his butt that says “Exit Only”.

Would you consider an FR logo somewhere on your body? First you'd have to find a tattooist who didn't think YOU were the freak.

My husband has 15 tattoos and regrets everyone of them now. He has gone 4 times to get one lasered off. At $150.00 per visit, it's pretty pricy considering it still isn't completely removed.
He said they are addicting and people do judge you because of them.
My advice ... don't get one.

Actually, my wife had her ears pierced before we met. But the phrase “bone in the nose” is one of my particular favorites. If I were your father, you’d be writing me that post from Nebraska, where my 25 year-old son lives.
