“Do not post to me”

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this.

1. It's impossible for us to enforce.
2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.
3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.
4. Thick skin helps.
5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply.

Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps.

Final note: Trolls, troublemakers, disruptors, forum pests, malcontents, RINOs, liberals, stalkers, et al, would continue posting to (harassing) someone after being asked to stop. Conservative FReepers would not.

Pretty sound policy.

We can’t be running to “mommy moderator” every time our feelings get hurt. The art of defending and promoting conservative reasoning is something the average poster should practice.

I think bozofilters, also known as killfiles, might be bit understood. If I put you in my killfile, I won't see your posts any more. It has no effect on what anyone else sees.

I wouldn't mind if FR added bozofilters, but I don't mind if it doesn't. When I used to use Usenet a lot more, the only folks I killfiled were the ones who posted a flood of obnoxious. useless and/or harrassing posts. FR mods are pretty good at getting rid of those folks, so a killfile isn't a big deal to me either way.

I was suspended for a few hours not too long ago. I think the mod was someone I argue with and when their turn came up to moderate, they gave me a little payback.

:) Mods have a crap job. Hell, people have thought I mod. 6 figures and 1-day a week and I wouldn’t even be enough for me to have any desire in being one. I’ve tried to defuse potential bombs, and even released a few pressure valves before. We all get too wrapped up sometimes. Nature of the beast. I’ll say this...Pattrick Ruffini was fishing for ideas with the Hugh Hewitt article a week or so ago, so naturally the online environment creates all sorts of obstacles, that even those long time in the biz can’t figure out how to handle (lol)

I spent 3 years living in Texas. I learned this....When someone addresses a group with "all y'all", you know if they are talking to you. Names are not necessary.
