Ron Paul supporters urged to attend MoveOn.org Rally !
RonPaul MeetUp Group ^ | 26 August 2007 | David Osborne

Posted on 08/26/2007 10:44:41 AM PDT by davidosborne

Many of you know that I help organize the Duncan Hunter "meetup" group(s). I decided to peek in at the "competition" and found it very interesting that Ron Paul supporters are being urged to attend the MoveOn.org rally....

http://ronpaul.meetup.com/1/boards/view/viewthread?thread=3421862

I post this because I know there are a lot of folks on FR that support Ron Paul.. I just wonder if you are participating in this effort.. or what you think about this whole business of catering to MoveOn.org

.... quote from an active Ron Paul supporter

Somebody posted a thread concerning moveon, and letting their members know about Ron Paul. As a member of moveon.org, I received today an invitation to create an anti-war rally on August 28th. They will be doing rallies all across the nation on that day. We should invade this event. During the rally, bring anti-war stickers, signs, and flags -- and also Ron Paul signs. Introduce moveon members to Ron Paul, the REAL anti-war candidate! Anti-war people will ask about Ron Paul and be introduced to him on that day. Don't be rude, just gently introduce people to the peace candidate. Moveon.org is well cordinated, so if enough of our people show up at their rallies, we might be able to convert a huge number of people.

I have already created a moveon.org anti-war rally, on the 28th at 7pm, right outisde of the West Covina Mall. Please, everybody who can in this group, COME. It's on the corner of Vincent and Plaza Drive in West Covina.

DU troll or Paulistinian troll! That’s a distinction without a difference. They’re all cheering for America’s enemies, mocking those who fight, and pretending that their own cowardice is enlightened. Ingrates, boobs, pretenders, poseurs, malcontents, dilettantes, weirdos and namby pambies, one and all.

You’re making the isolationist argument of the 1930’s, which was so discredited that the Democrats were able to rule for 50 year

No, the isolationist argument could not be made post Wilson's mistake. We had to fix the error our actions helped to create in Germany (that was the humane thing to do). Of course blocking off the Japanese (who would have been a good ally) partially for actions in Asia was a bad move but hey FDR wasn't known for being that smart was he? Course I imagine like Bush you think FDR was a good President...I just can't wait to see what the Chinese will do if someone like Hunter gets to be President. Protectionist war with a nation we're up to our eyeballs in debt with (partially to pay for the police action)? Oh it will be interesting

Have you heard of 9/11?

Yeah, I hear Rudy's running for President of it as a matter of fact. Ever hear of cause and effect? Why don't you let us all know when your faux fury over 9/11 is going to run out and exactly what the world will look like after it does. Let me guess, Arabs throwing chocolates and flowers at the troops...You can't blame everyone outside of our borders for it. I mean I can't ever imagine why the Arabs would be upset...after all the partitioning of their region was carried out by outside forces beginning in 1916 and in the process putting disparate groups together that don't like each other. Oh wait that's some of that pre-1941 history...you can look it up.

Is there anything that can wake you and your Ron Paul ilk up?

Yes. Iraq woke quite a few of the Classical Liberal/Old Conservatives up. Remember 2006? Try hawking a candidate that wants to 'stay the course' in Iraq. The defeat in '06 will look tame. You won't have a snowball's chance of winning the election and it will be a landslide in the Electoral College. But please do carry on under the false assumption that the general public will support the police action indefinitely.

Good God, a report from the front line, from a “man” (I assume) who supports our real troops in harms way by supporting Ron Paul, al Qaeda’s favorite candidate. Stay safe, man. I’ve got your letter for your wife if you don’t make it back.

Ah, well, Jveritas, help this know it all understand. You, jveritas, are an Arab, correct? You're a Christian one, I believe. And our most intelligent expert on the world, Miss Billbears, knows what Arabs want. He knows they're right to be "upset," as the gentle lady says. In my experience in Arab lands, admittedly not as long as the effiminine Missus Billbears, I believe that it is correct that the Arabs are quite capable of aspiring to more than anti-American claptrap that little sugar shorts Miss Billbears projects on to them. Self-goverment is not a uniquely Anglo phenomena, is it? And I don't think this projection should be used to undermine those Arabs who risked their lives to have self-goverment in Iraq or Lebanon making way for Iran and Syria. I may not have the feminine understanding that Miss Billbears has. I also sense an unhealthy dose of Liberal historical understanding of the Middle East.

Well, I am no Rudy fan, I hope Fred can topple Rudy.

I think the rest of the field including Paul have zero chance unless Rudy and Fred drop out.

Actually another poster sent me stuff that was better organized and it was not pretty.

I don’t like Rudy anyway, but pray we get Fred, cause no one else will win over Rudy IMO.

And our most intelligent expert on the world, Miss Billbears, knows what Arabs want.

Awww, name calling. I didn't know you cared. I also note you didn't address a damn thing I mentioned. Why? Because when it comes to the historical perspective of why the world is the way it is and why it will continue on the path it has, you simply don't grasp it. Perhaps you can't. Perhaps because it takes more than talking points from Fox News and Sean Hannity to realize the situation in the Middle East has been on for oh about 4000 years?

I don't know what Arabs want and frankly I don't care. If they want self government they can grasp it. Just as we did in the West after 500 years or so (oops I gave you the answer to the question in the next paragraph...). Course the last time a nation tried self determination in the Middle East without proper 'approval' from the West, it was smacked down. Matter of fact that happens almost every time doesn't it? You'll have the form of 'self government' we want you to have by God and you'll like it.

Self-goverment is not a uniquely Anglo phenomena, is it?

No it is not. Why don't you enlighten us to how long it took self government to take hold in the West....

I also sense an unhealthy dose of Liberal historical understanding of the Middle East

Translated, I have no earthly idea of what billbears is talking about, since I haven't actually studied history, so by definition it must be liberal....what you sense is actually the ability to think for oneself and not parrot talking points from the RNC. You're right that probably is foreign to you....

I know you couldn’t run a platoon, but you’re more than willing to describe how to win the war on terror. And you’re more than willing to follow a goof ball and think the best way to win is to surrender. Surrender, as Orwell said, is the quickest way to end a war; it’s not the quickest way to win it.

We'll have to agree to disagree then, elhombrelibre.

Three weeks of bootcamp...heheheheeh LOL. Man, you’re a jewel. You just fell off of your Wisconsin turnip truck straight into your bad beer.

I was willing to stay and asked my Company Commander if I could do so, but the extent of the damage to my left eye was too much of a risk.

Still, I had fun being in the Navy, your smarmy post aside.
