Failing Grades; Radicalism is no longer taught only in college
American Legion Magazine ^ | September 2007 | Alan Dowd

Radicalism is no longer taught only in college; many younger students are getting a head start.

Schools traditionally emphasized the “three Rs” – reading, ’riting and ’rithmetic. Recently a “fourth R” seems to have entered the American schoolhouse: radicalism.

“When you go into a class where you’re supposed to learn about government or geography,” high-school junior Sean Allen says, “you expect to learn what the truth is.” He found out last year that some teachers don’t share his expectation. An Accelerated World Geography class at Overland High School in suburban Denver featured diatribes against the United States, capitalism and President Bush. His frustration over anti-American classroom rhetoric thrust him into a national debate over the limits of academic freedom.

“Sean had told me the teacher was pretty radical,” his father, Jeff Allen, recalls.

How radical? The teacher, Jay Bennish, used a geography class to declare capitalism “an economic system at odds with humanity.” He called the United States “the most violent nation on earth.” He said Bush’s 2006 State of the Union address “sounds a lot like the things that Adolf Hitler used to say.”

The big problem is: radical teachers and politicians supported by radical media. They all live off each other and depend on each other for support. the BIGGER problem is that Radical Muslims are tuned in to this and are hiding in the garbage pile right along with the enemy within.

Apparently Rummel has just raised Red China’s score to 76M, putting them into first place.

Way to go, Mao!

True, the teacher’s unions are mere appendages of the Democratic Party.
Yet I have a different take on the whole”radical indoctrination”issue.True, many teachers are nothing but conduits for Left wing propaganda.
The catch is that the students are plain not interested. At least in the ghetto schools I work in.Those kids are all about getting a new scraper, watching that hot girl from the Westside shake her laffy taffy and maybe hooking up a big pro sports contract or making a rap video.
They could care less about Che or Global Warming. They want to get paid, baby.Like the song said,”in my brain,I got a capitalist migraine”

Exactly! In addition to being dishonest hacks, they are cowards. Confront them with students carrying digital recorders and they will back down.

"They could care less about Che or Global Warming."

I sure hope you mean they couldn't care less.

When people like Michael Medved stop telling the public that communism was defeated when the USSR fell, ignoring the 800 pound gorilla, China, and the growth of communism in South America. When Americans see enough contradictions to what is being said and do something about it is when this will stop.

The fact is, communism is very much alive. It has also become stronger in America. Communism is far from being dead, it’s the religion for our youth.

Hehhehheh! Those two were my old man’s favorite peeves. Another one he just loved was to hear somebody say “At this point in time” when they could have said “Now”.

But fortunately biology majors don't have to take poli-sci classes...

Oh, I wouldn't bet on avoiding that crap just because you are taking biology. Wait until you get the speech about how the Bush Administration is against the advancement of science. Stem cells and all that baloney. Oh, you will get your share. Plus there are those elective classes you have to take...

In my experience, people like this are usually pretty imcompetent in what they are supposed to be doing. I want a geography teacher (or any other subject) that’s excited by geography. Ask this guy to point out on a map where Babylon or Constantinople used to be and see what happens.
