What Makes a FReeper a FReeper?

I often wondered what exactly makes a FReeper a FReeper? Is it the simple act of reading articles on FR? Do you have to post articles or replies? To call yourself a FReeper do you need to engage in effective activism like writing letters to politicians, getting out in the street to carry signs, or, is being a FReeper an attitude. If so, what attitude is that?
Knock yourself out.

What if someone does not have the time or circumstances to engage in activism but donates well to this site and the activism efforts of others...to make up for it?

Maybe being a spelling policeman is a sign of FReeperhood?

Can an atheist be a conservative or a FReeper?
Sure. I believe a few FReepers are of that persuasion.

You must be very familiar with Piss to assume you can address Mr. Ant so informally.

Being a FReeper means realizing Bob J has too much time on his hands today.

I've been an official posting Freeper since 2001. Prior to that I was a lurking Freeper. Now, I've been officially christened a
known Freeper by a liberal blog in Rochester. Check it out:
rochester_veteran is officially a known Freeper
I kinda like the ring of that, known Freeper, kind of like the unknown comic! :-)

Heheh, you know what that means...you’re “on their lists” now.
Welcome to the club.

Did you have an opinion about your FReeperhood during your observation phase? Not really, other than feeling a part of a special on-line community. I still remember early impressions from reading posts by posters such as Trident-Delta, The Kid, Old Atlanta, and others and thinking, "I got a lot to learn." Clinton's a Liar posted a lot back then. Embarrassingly, I marveled at quidam's posts but I did laugh at tuco-bad. Michael Rivero cracked me up, too. And that lawyer from Florida who was obsessesed with Janet Reno - - Jack something?
Anyways, I don't remember the word "freeper" being used until around 2000 or so, but I could be wrong.

“But you respond.”
Yes I do, 7,761 times in less than 2 years. I also post article links etc in threads but I’ve never started one.
When I found the site I spent one whole day reading everything posted and the next day I couldn’t stand it and joined so I could comment. I’ve been here most of everyday since.
I know what it means to me but I’d never attempt to define any set requirement for anyone else. Every FReeper knows who they are and it doesn’t matter if anyone else knows.

A freeper has to scream back at news stories and make pithy, insightful (and usually correct) comments at each and every news story, especially within the context of correcting the newsbabe.
He also has to determine if a story, with his commentary is worthwhile to post.
While on vacation with no PC, a FReeper exhibits withdrawals as he cannot comment on those stories.
Personally, A FReeper has to be able to defend himself and his actions against the bias and bad attitudes of other FReepers who are wrong, especially in the endless bicycling threads that always devolve into name calling of us Spandex wearing cyclists who ride with traffic and being told look like we belong at the local pride parade.
