Just reported on FOX News TV
Good find! I assume what he meant was that he never discussed politics in public.......but after I heard what he said about ‘Cahtah’, there was no doubt in my mind that he was a solid Republican.
In other news, police have finally identified the infamous Windex Killer....
RIP Merv.
Since Mr. Griffin was a classy gentleman, what else could he be in politics but Republican?

Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr: You. You’re the elevator killer. Merv Griffin.
Merv Griffin: Yeah.
Dr. Michael Hfuhruhurr: Why?
Merv Griffin: I don’t know. I’ve always just loved to kill. I really enjoyed it. But then I got famous, and - it’s just too hard for me. And so many witnesses. I mean, *everybody* recognized me. I couldn’t even lurk anymore. I’d hear, “Who’s that lurking over there? Isn’t that Merv Griffin?” So I came to Europe to kill. And it’s really worked out very well for me.
My mom always watched his show and that means I did at times. He seemed like a nice guy. What is so amazing is that he took hangman and trivia and made millions. Sometimes the best ideas are right under our noses.
Exactly. I wish I had Merv’s business acumen.
He was (and is) an American original.
Thanks for the info!
RIP, Merv
He has one “child”......an adult son; I believe his name is Tony. I’m pretty sure Tony has kids.
The CBS Sunday Morning Show....one of the best TV shows produced by the lame-stream media... did a feature story about Merv on their broadcast about a year ago. It was taped at Merv’s sprawling ranch at La Quinta and included a lengthy interview with Merv.
He also dated Eva Gabor, who died after an accident in Mexico some years ago. There were rumors that Eva and Merv were planning to wed.
I didn't know that. (Thanks for the information, it is one of the reasons that I like FR, I learn so much. :0)
RIP Merv Griffin.
PS: That's kind of an interesting album:
And it would be difficult to compare that album with, say, this television ad, and not come to the conclusion that something has gone terribly wrong with our society in the intervening six decades:
I still remember when Art Flemming hosted that show from around 64 to 75.
Merv sure put a lot of good finishing touches on that show, the old show could bore you to tears, but Art was a good host though.
Perhaps the last true innovator in the television/entertainment industry. RIP, Merv.
I think a part of all of us just died. He was a class act. RIP Merv.
Goodness, that brought a tear to my eye.
I remember Treacher talking about how many young men from his village had been killed in WWI. I'm not sure of my memory, but it could be that he was the only one who survived the war. I guess I'm getting old if I remember Arthur Treacher and Merv Griffen together...
RIP. Another part of my childhood gone.
I wish I had Mervs business acumen.
It was basically a combination of Hangman and roulette, with a pretty girl and fabulous prizes.
Of course, TV Land ate it up and Merv laughed all the way to Boardwalk and Park Place.
