'Hundreds' cancel trips, homeowner threatens to move out
Telluride: Some of the ski fans who have patronized Telluride, Colo., now are calling the ritzy resort "the land of radical liberals" and canceling planned vacations there because the town board voted to approve an ordinance calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney.
One ski club of 175 people already has made plans to go elsewhere, another skier has threatened to sell his home there and another critic predicted the town soon would bow to Mecca.
"It's huge, unbelievable," said Telluride Mayor John Pryor. "Ski groups are canceling for the winter. Hundreds of people are bailing. The (town) website is flooded with people saying they're canceling their vacations here."
The storm of protest followed the town board's recent vote on the impeachment issue, according to a report in the Denver Post.

Somehow, I can't quite picture Queen Oprah on skis...
Well said. Thanks from rural California.

The Dixie Chicks business model
Colorado has a bunch of these resort & mountain communities that have been taken over by the “beautiful people” and the radicals. ToHellYouRide is one of them, obviously Boulder and nearby Nederland. It’s criminal for any of us to rape and exploit these majestic mountains for our pleasure, so we have to get out of their ways when they drive their SUVs to their mountain lodges, ski resorts and starbucks.
My guess is they’ll cave when they see less $$ coming in. Then we can all chant:
Telluride caved,
Bush stayed
Yep. It is the place to go if you like to ski and not spend a fortune doing it. Real skiers get past the hype that the Colorado resorts spew out and think about the snow, which is great in the Wasatch Mts. I like Whistler as well, but the weather can be iffy.
No, its not. What's unbelievable is that some po dunk town council thought it was ever in its pervue to call for a Presidents impeachment in the first place.
Mayor, you should have been at that council meeting, and if you had half a brain you should have been chewing those idiots out.... I have to wonder how the Mayor voted on that one.
I hope their snow melts. AH’s can slide down their hills on cardboard boxes. Jerks!
MY wife likes to wear her Rush Limbaugh t-shirt whenever we think we’ll be entering one of these radical-chic mountain communities. They have such amusing reactions. It’s like bringing a water-pistol to a cat farm.
I know it’s cruel to tease insane people like that, but it’s so amusing the way they jump around and the funny sounds they make.
As Michael Jordan would say, “Republicans go skiing too.”
They also have a forum, which I’ve already posted on - hope their server melts!
I think prettty much all of the resorts and surrounding communities have been taken over by the leftist rich loonies and the idealistic, ignorant ski-bums......
Each ski trip I take it gets more and more disgusting interacting with the arrogant snobs in lift lines and end of the day bars. My last trip was to British Columbia in 2003 and you could almost smell the anger the leftist canadians had towards Americans in general.
Has it occurred to anyone that the reservations could be filled by liberals in a show of support?

I am going to second the Park City/Salt Lake City ping
I’ve been to Park City, it was the site of the 2002 Winter Olympics
the resort had a family feel and was beautiful.
Clear air and Mountians, (this was in April 02 and again in Mar 04)
been there done that can’t wait to get back there.

>As an aside, here is another reason to avoid Telluride.<
Just say it; They cater to the queers.
Certainly serves em right.
Beautiful vally . . . evidently full of idiots.
errrr valley . . . poor spelling is NOT a sign of idiocy, right? Too lazy to use spell check . . . welll . . . sigh.
Certainly serves em right.
Beautiful valley . . . evidently full of idiots.
A smart marketing manager from a competing resort would be smart to advertise, (Name of the Resort) the Fair and Balanced Ski Resort.
Or, ‘Leave politics downslope with us!”
“This kind of backlash? I don’t know of it happening anywhere else,” David Swanson, a spokesman for Impeach PAC, a group that now lists more than 180 entities across the country that have passed impeachment measures, told the newspaper.”
I’ll tell you why. Telluride is forunate enough to be a spectaculaly beutiful place where you can spend time skiing or hiking away from all these loons if you wish.
On the other hand, most centers of lib control are hell holes to which most people have no desire to step foot— see Detroit, New Orleans, West Hollywood, Cambridge, San Fransisco (too bad), New Paltz, Baltimore, etc, etc.
Sure - maybe the same ones that bought all those Dixie Chick concert tickets here in Kansas City and in St. Louis last year. (whoops - maybe they didn't. Both shows were cancelled.)
Honest question - does it bother you when Freepers display glee when a liberal person or group encounters the consequences of their actions?
