NEW YORK — The U.N. Security Council yesterday authorized a new peacekeeping mission for Darfur, a complex military effort with 26,000 African and U.N. forces under a single command that will be the largest ever attempted by the world body.
The resolution setting up the mission also calls for an immediate cease-fire in the Darfur region of Western Sudan and sets a timetable for the force to be fully deployed by early 2008.
No U.S. troops will participate directly in the mission, but they likely will help move troops and materiel.
"We call in particular on [Sudanese] President [Omar] Bashir to provide maximum cooperation to the new peacekeeping force," U.S. Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said. "We hope this marks a new chapter in relations."
The force, a hybrid of African Union soldiers and international logistics and support, was publicly welcomed by Sudan's U.N. ambassador, who said he was pleased with concessions in the final and painstakingly edited text.
Ambassador Abdalmahmood Abdalhaleem said he spent Sunday with British Ambassador Emyr Jones Parry "cleaning" the six-page resolution to address Sudan's concerns.

As if they weren't suffering enough under their Muslim tormentors --- now, the U.N. sends another African Army while charges of mayhem and rape remain unresolved at other U.N. African Army "rescue" sites...

Correction: UN Authorizes The Sudan mission.
1. Nothing will change except that the victims will be disarmed and “protected” in camps as the Islamic forces walk right in and slaughter them ala Rwanda.
2. The UN Forces will engage in “sex for aid”, slave trading, and other abuses as they have in other parts of Africa.
3. The Islamic Forces in Sudan will simply kick the UN mission out or ignore them and keep right on doing what they do. The UN members will chide the USA for not providing forces and say we are not living up to our responsibilities, China and Russia will do nothing but aid the terrorists, and the American Left will wring their hands. Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Commission (lead by Islamic states) will turn a blind eye to the “infidels” in Sudan.
4. All of the above and even some new surprises.
Of course, we always have the UN Mission in Lebanon to provide us with examples of the UN working. Well, working for Hizbolallah that is.

I assume this signals the commencement of the U.N.’s plan for the complete genocide of Darfur’s poor residents. Soon, they will probably all be dead.
