Raise drinking age for women?

Posted on 07/25/2007 7:28:34 AM PDT by domeika

I heard a nut on the radio this am that has plans to have a bill submitted to congress that if passed, would raise the drinking age to 23 for women only. As absurd as this sounds, to hear this liberal's heart-felt reasons for it was truly a jaunt into the twilight zone. More disturbing still, the person with this idea is a 38 yo woman, that is also a California judge. There isn't a chance in hell of legislation like this getting passed (I hope) but it's worth looking into this nut-case's career just to find out what kind of damage is being done by her hearing cases in criminal court. I've been doing some research but haven't found any more information than I heard on the radio so I figured maybe the pajama patrol could find something.
Name: Blair Horowitz (not sure of spelling)
State: California
Court(municipal, superior, appellate)? No idea.

The best solution to the problem is,

FOR ALL__ lower the drinking age to 14, raise the voting age to 45...

If you raised the drinking age for women to 23, then how would college guys ever lose their virginity?

It would never happen. The friendly folks at Planned Parenthood and their lobbyists would put a stop to anything like that. It would devastate the abortion industry.

Underage drinking is already common among both sexes, how is raising the drinking age going to change things? Another Kalifornia head in the sand (or up the arse) line of reasoning.

what? a liberal admitting that men and women are different?

It is true that women are more affected by alcohol than men.

I think the age should be lowered for Hot women and raised for men.
This way, it will increase the Drunk Easy Girl to Stupid Drunk Young Guy ratio.

The drinking age for men in Oklahoma used to be HIGHER than for women (18 women, 21 men) - this is just the reverse.... and it may help shield them from so-called date rape.

Not only that, women should not be allowed to vote.

The Left-turn in this country began with women's suffrage.

How Dramatically Did Women's Suffrage Change the Size and Scope of Government?

They just did to the country what they did to their families once they got a credit card.

I don’t think this will happen. I’m in pretty tight with some big names in entertainment and they agree with me. I mean, I just asked Lindsay Lohan and she told me that she’s not concerned about this at all.

I had a history professor that told us this country went to hell when women were given the right to vote.

Between 1913 and 1920 we got Income Tax, popular election of Senators, and Suffrage. It’s been all downhill from there.

I lived in Germany for four years, and kids can drink there at 16, or at any age if their parents are with them.

In my opinon, people in Germany are more responsible in their drinking, probably becasue it is no a big deal.
This article is somewhat critical of German drinking, but states that a higher percentage of Americans are dependent:
http://www.dw-world.de/dw/article/0,2144,2226609,00.html
Most recent data shows that that 1.7 million Germans are dependent on alcohol and need treatment, whilst, 2.7 million use alcohol in a harmful way.

Compared to the US, the most recent annual data from 2001-2002 shows that of a population of nearly 300 million, there are 7.91 million people (2.6%) dependent on alcohol.

Really? Well, at least stupid is still in there so I'll always have a place to put my picture.

C’mon now, don’t shoot the messenger. I have no reason to doubt what I heard. However, I’ll be checking the website of the station where I heard it to see if I can find mention of it. They are usually a one to two days behind broadcasts in updating their site.
If a hoax, then ok,...ya got me. However, when it comes to the left, I find it harder and harder to tell these days if something they are alleged to have said or done is factual or not. Common sense has steadily evaporated from their ranks after the 2000 election and their tank is just about dry at this point.
