Voinovich self-destructs on Hannity
WorldNetDaily ^ | June 27, 2007

Posted on 06/27/2007 5:02:11 PM PDT by Baladas

WASHINGTON – Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, misunderstood the results of a vote on an amendment to the "comprehensive immigration reform" bill being debated in the upper house today.

He also is apparently unfamiliar with efforts to re-impose the Fairness Doctrine on broadcasters operating on the public airwaves.

But it was nationally syndicated radio talk-show host Sean Hannity's persistent grilling about the senator's intentions on key cloture votes leading to a showdown on what is characterized as an "amnesty" bill that caused Voinovich to melt down before millions of listeners today.

The normally low-profile Republican hung up on the No. 2 talk host in the country.

The key sticking point in the conversation was Hannity's question as to whether the senator had done a cost analysis on the bill. The Heritage Foundation, a conservative think-tank, estimates the bill would cost the American taxpayers $2.5 trillion.

Voinovich said he didn't believe the cost would be that high because a third of those eligible for a path to citizenship would never take it.

"How do you know that?" Hannity asked. "Where does that figure come from?"

Voinovich did not provide any supporting evidence for his contention and admitted he had read neither the bill itself or the Heritage Foundation analysis.

The senator complained that some of his constituents have attempted to "intimidate" him by saying they would oppose his re-election if he voted for the bill.

"You do not intimidate George Voinovich," he said. "During my 40 years in this business, I have always looked at the pros and cons of each piece of legislation and made a determination. If people don't like my decision, they can express their will during the next election."

Hehe! Thanks, I heard part of the interview in my car but didn’t know which Senator was doing the interview. It WAS a total meltdown! I thought he was going to hang up, then he told Hannity that he (Voinovich) was supposed to have at least five minutes to speak and Hannity had had more minutes than he and started laughing like a madman! Wasn’t Voinovich the Senator who started crying on the Senate floor a while back? HA! I’m getting his address and sending him a box of Puffs!

It takes a lot of money (in the millions) to run for Senate. Even the House is a high goal. Want to help me do that? In 2008, perhaps?

Voinovich is gun-grabbing scum.

Not that it has anything to do with the topic at hand, I just like to remind people of that fact.

Isn’t Sen. George Voinovich the senator that teared up and voted aganst John Bolton for US embassador for the UN?

That would be the guy. "Low profile" indeed.

Senator V from OHIO is an arrogant, ignorant and dim-witted fella. Yet, Sean should not have shown his cards so much. Much better would have been an intense dose of flattery and probes into the real mental mechanisms and relationships that make this man so mis-beguided. Dumb guys like him have handlers or stage managers to make the script.

Furthermore, Senator V. has like many been compromised. His handler or another prince has the goods on him. My guess is he has a page problem or worse. This fool is totally dependent and malleable to whatever agenda he is feed.

Yes, a blind chimpanzee would serve Ohio no worse.

At this rate of self destruction the Republican’s are doomed come ‘08.

I have to disagree... these are the people in charge of the party that has been leading it off the cliff to defeat... we needed to id them and git rid of them...

The troops (the base) are will to fight but the leadership has been selling us out for the perks of DC power

I caught the very first part of the interview about the Fairness Doctrine and honestly I thought Sen. V was drunk. He sounded like he had no clue what was going on. I am really sorry I missed the meltdown.

I find myself equally, if not more, concerned and appalled by the attitudes and behaviors that this bill has shined a light on. The backroom, slimeball dealings, the constant double talk, the holier than thou “you just don’t understand this complex issue” talking points are just as infuriating as the completely treasonous items in this bill. I pray that one day we will look back upon this time as the beginning of the end for these entrenched, legacy, scumbag prostitutes. I’ve had it. I hope when the dust clears, little events and quotes such as this will be brought to the front so that all can see who far too many of our “leaders” really are.

It was a good ‘un! He never would answer Hannity’s question. He sounded loopy to me, too.
