When you begin to police your own side for namecalling perhaps you will have a point? The Marxist conservative moniker is perfect since these conservatives want a Living Wage and gummit Central Planning for businesses and vilify businsses as slave owners. What would you call it since that is what it is?

There are no two camps on this board, only one and I and a very few others disagree. Your guest worker program will be called “Shamnesty” and you will be forced out of the group so be very careful with that.

I have been very careful not to namecall save one bombthrower, so perhaps you can police the other side with equal vigor.

Pray for W and Our Troops

Lott: Says Bloomberg's run is going nowhere. LOL. He gets one thing right.

Bloomberg may pick up some Rudy backers, if Rudy looses the nomination.

I think Bloomberg is Hillary's, plan A for a TP candidate.

Right, JUST tune out all facts about how politically corrupt the News media has been. How selective their coverage. NO, some Professor in 1974 told you the President has a “bully pulpit”. So since the Buchannaite Right has their slogan to spew forth day in and day out, they simply don’t need to be bothered with simply factual reality. After all, they don’t need no stinkin’ facts, they have a dogma!

Question for you. HOW does the President’s “Bully Pulpit” work

That right. He has to rely on the “Journalists” to report his message to the people. He has to rely on THEIR medium.

My how sad, yet another 100%er slogan just got shattered on the rocks of cold hard political reality.

You really are a tard, aren't you?

Ok, please stop with the personal attacks. You can make your point without them Chuck (and very well, too).

I think it would be helpful if you would state more precisely just what you mean by “the free market.” There are government regulations concerning the sale of food contaminated with harmful bacteria, the sale of components of WMD’s to terrorist states (as defined by the government), the sale of toys that burst into fire, maintaining fraudulent accounting records, etc.

Are you opposed to all of these things, or just the laws pertaining to labor?

“I know you don’t want to talk about those expensive machines or how crops got picked before the invasion began but here is something you might want to consider since you have such an “open mind”

Good point Rodguy. Here’s another. The total number of farm laborers in the USA is 1.2 million. 2/3 of them are Legal immigrants/citizens. We don’t need 12 million illegals to do the farm work of 400,000 people.

And as you stated, all these jobs got done in the 80s and 90s without 12 million illegals.

Its not about “jobs that Americans won’t do”; its about greed and cheap labor. BTW, slaveholders in 1860 were saying the same song. They asked, “How would the cotton get picked or the sugarcane cut without Negro Slavery?”

I believe you are not serious with your nitpicking. I think you know exactly what the Free Market is and exactly what I mean by that term.

Labor is only one major cost in the production of goods and yes it deserves a free market approach. In the end we are all costs in the production of what we produce. Pretty simple really.

The Free Market just says to keep costs under sales revenue and make a profit. The gummit only adds costs and makes markets less efficient.

If you have documentation you can find out who has criminal records and track them from now forward. The forgeproof ID is a good idea.

How can you discern the difference between the 2 all the figures would show is those registered looking for jobs.

Many youngsters go through the process of interviews etc but have no intention of taking a job many ruin the interview or do not accept the job giving phony reasons.

In Britain you have to prove you are looking for a job to get benefit - I would assume it is the same in the US.

Many youngsters go into the job centre daily have to sign on once a week at a certain time and show evidence of trying for work and then spend the rest of the day hanging out with their mates.

I would suspect of the percentage you quote there is a far number that are similar to this.

Unfortunately the few give the rest a bad name but it still does not alter the fact that often to get youngsters to work from 16 - 20 it is a struggle for parents.

Johnnie I am afraid many will not accept that the President could give 2 speeches a day (often he does) and the media will ignore it. They only show those that they really are pushed to show by the White House. The White House cannot insist everyone is covered but you wait if the dems take the White House in 2008 from January 2009 each speech will be covered and not just sound bites unless the sound bites make the left look good.

Who is “you” who will find those illegal aliens? Are you suggesting that we should not track illegal aliens who have no criminal records? Should we make ‘sanctuary cities” illegal?

The Bully pulpit is a stupid term IMHO no President or Prime Minister truly has this it is down to the news media to cover it.

They can give speech after speech but if only the bits are shown that the media want to show that fit their agenda then it has no effect if people are not willing to actually make an effort to read the entire speech or actually know where it would be found, how many of the average Americans are aware of what is published on the White House website. Sometimes I wonder how many on this board are in fact aware what published on that website.

In a way Congress has the advantage here as like the British Parliament the debates are shown in full.

Many people in Britain would be aware that transcript of parliament are published (Hansard) but would they be aware or know where to go to see the PM’s speech at a local college or factory. I am sure the same applies in the US as well.
