What we do not know, MNJohnnie, is how much was falsified back then.

Perhaps but the big difference was they at least made an effort to present both sides. Even if they were clearly slanted against one point of view, it was at least out there.

NOW all you hear is ONE side. That of the "Journalists" personal political views.

Here is another example.

How is it that the Chief political reporter for AP, (Associated Press virtually the only source for most Broadcast and Publish "News" in the USA), Jennifer Loven is allowed to keep her job despite being married to a former Clintonite and Democrat National Committee big wig?

That sort of clear conflict of interest would be obvious grounds for dismissal or reassignment to other duties in any other industry. In the "News Media" for a "Journalists" that standard operating procedure.

after they go bankrupt you bring in new “farmers” who know nothing about farming

You really are a tard, aren't you? Who hangs out at BK auctions? Other players. In this case, other farmers would be scooping up these properties. Your doomsday scenario ignores the fact that farming consolidation has been going on for 100 years.

Nice try painting a picture of small family farmers struggling to make payroll. LOL. Modern farming is no different than building cars at a GM factory.

Chr!st, were do people like you come from? Hello, there are billion $ class-action lawsuits being launched throughout the country. These civil actions have nothing to do with the criminal justice system. In addition, state/city/local legal initiatives are being established throughout the land. What's the civil liability for these representatives/agents (cops, etc) who fail to enforce these laws?

Chuck Dent, if you have a problem with me, you have a problem period.

I like your approach to the issue, but you sure didn't do yourself any favors by that intro above.

Wonder what Pat Buchanan's’s ancestors would think about hearing one of their descendent's direct at people the same arguments they got thrown at them by the Know Nothings when they came to the USA.

Johnnie, back then we did hear one side because the “other” side was set up to fail. We’d read the newspapers for what was not said just about as much as for what was said.

CNN reporting an IED attack kills 4 UN peacekeepers in Lebabon. The 4 were from Spain.

I guess the Hezzies decided it’s time for the U.N. to leave (which they will). And-—this is apparently what Spain bought when it threw its presidential election to the terrorists?

In my capitalism there is no gummit to get in the free flow of markets. That includes labor which there should be no minimum wage since nobody is forcing anyone to work at the agreed wages.

There should be a Wall and documentation for the Guest Workers for our protection. Vilifying businesses gets you “conservatives” nowhere. Deportation is not even a serious option.

Pray for W and Our Troops

Hint: The part bray is omitting from the equation {less from deceit than ignorance, I hope} is the part about the relatively inelastic demand for farm goods.

Interesting, Snugs.

Still PM till he visits the Queen.

Wonder how she really feels about him? She doesn’t exactly show her feelings, but I suspect she may have a little fondness for the guy, or maybe I’m just believing what I saw in that movie (The Queen).

A good movie, by the way.

Pat is responsible for himself. Who knows if he’s related to someone who wasn’t like him?

Mo, here’s a pic with a much better woman and your ex-beau:

&&&
I think you mean “better-looking”. I don’t know anything about Douglas’s wife, but if she married that jerk, she must be just as clueless and hateful as Dowd.

Well, bray, you may have a point, but I don’t think so.

In a free market, capitalistic society (which I hope we can keep) people manage to do what they have to do.

If the farmers lost their cheap illegal labor, they would do something and they would survive.

Really? Give me comparable episodes from the 1970s to 1996 of the following.Jason Blair?

In 1981, Washington Post reporter Janet Cooke won a Pulitzer for a story about Jimmy, an 8-year-old heroin addict. The boy didn't exist, and Cooke was forced to return the prize. She resigned from the Post and headed to France in 1985.

Rathergate?

Iran-Contra. Walter Cronkite and Vietnam.

Frauds about Abu Graibe and the Downing Street memo?

Most of the reporting coming out of Vietnam. Pentagon papers.

AP stringers in Iraq arrested helping Insurgency build bombs?

Jane Fonda and her ilk who helped publicize her trips to North Vietnam. John Kerry's testitmony before Congress in 1971 and two meetings with the Vietnamese communists in Paris while still a member of the US Naval Reserve. Most of the reporting coming out of Vietnam.

CBS and NBS "Journalists" meeting with senior Kerry staffers to coordinate how something would be covered?

Kennedy and Johnson relationship with the press. Many things were kept from the public by the media.

Fraudulent reporting about "the Military is bogged down and cut of in Iraq in 2003"?

Most of the reporting coming out of Vietnam, including portraying the Tet Offensive as a victory for the enemy. Walter Cronkite and his the war is lost pronouncement on the evening news when it was actually being watched by most of the American people.

The utterly made up coverage about Fritzmu "23 indictments reaching into the highest levels of the White House"? etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc.

Iran-Contra. Archibald Cox. Watergate. Lots of innocent people's lives were destroyed by zealous prosecutors.

This is not your era's new media. Anyone who cannot see it is simply refusing to look at the facts.

The fact is that we know much more today than we did then. The MSM really did control things because we had no alternatives. Many of the instances you cited were uncovered by the alternative media. The same kinds of stuff were going on before, but we had no way to find out except many years later. Deep Throat, the McCarthy hearings, Gulf of Tonkin, etc. are now better understood than was the case at the time.
