Jimmy Carter is a liar, say's fellow democrat Alan Dershowitz.
Jerusalem Post ^ | March 13 2007 | Alan Dershowitz

Posted on 06/20/2007 5:21:03 AM PDT by Arcy

When former President Jimmy Carter spoke at Brandeis University in January, he complained that “this is the first time I’ve ever been called a liar…”. Well, he’d better get used to it, because I can now prove that he is a liar.

Last week, in a speech at George Washington University, he categorically denied that he had received any invitation to debate me about his book. He said that he had—these are his quoted words—“never received any invitation to debate, contrary to what a Harvard professor has said.”[1] Well, one of us is lying, and it’s not me. My best witness is none other than Jimmy Carter himself. Here is what he said, just a few weeks earlier at Brandeis:

“But let the debate take place, and I’ve never responded to any of the people that have made their attacks on me. I understand there is a Harvard professor that has done so. I turned down a meeting with him; I felt, I didn’t think that Brandeis needed a Harvard professor to come here and tell you how to ask questions. But to summarize my answer I think it is going to be much easier in the future not only in this campus but around the nation to debate these issues.”[2]

You don't have to prove it to me Alan. Carter lost all credibility with me years ago.

Carter was a dim bulb in the best of circumstances. At this point his filament has now completely worn out.

Unfortunately no one has the good sense to put him out to pasture.

The Democrats are transforming into an openly anti-Israel party.

I was in Seattle a week ago at a cafe and a couple were loudly discussing the latest round of Fatah vs. Hamas.

I'll paraphrase:

"Can you believe this stuff in Palestine?"
"Yeah, it's crazy. I don't know whose side to be on."
"I don't even know the difference between these Fatah and Hamas or whatever people."
"No, I was saying I don't know whether to support Israel or the Palestinians. They just keep bombing each other, back and forth."

At this point, I interject:

"When it comes to America and al-Qaeda, do you know which side you want to be on?

"But that's different!"

"How, exactly?"

"Because Israel took away their land!"

"Did you know that 30 years before Israel existed and 50 years before Israel conquered the West Bank after they were attacked, every Jew in Hebron was slaughtered by Arabs? They had the land then - what's changed? They kill Jews if they own land or if they don't own land."

"Well, it's a lot more complicated than that, I'm pretty sure. I don't want to talk about it any more."

I'm pretty sure these two geniuses don't vote GOP.

One has to have a good memory to be a good liar.

Carter is at an age (82) where the short term memory goes first.

I wonder how long his family and deluded sycophants will allow him to run loose all over the planet.

Another point in history totally lost on the brainless left, is the fact FACT FACT, that the Arabs living in what was to become Israel were sold out by their own. Their own turned them into refugees. I included, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon to perhaps a lesser degree if at all.

Israels desire was that the Arabs stay in the country, after all they were the economic backbone, the merchants, farmers, people with jobs that were important to the smooth transition. They were to maintain their jobs and their lands and property.

The leadership of the countries mentioned above, who were to attack Israel in short order gave the Arabs an ultimatum to move out or suffer the consequences. Even after the war was won, Israel still wanted them to return, but the Arab leadership would not allow it. They had become the pawns they would remain for the last 59 years.

The Palis should wise up rise up and with Israel's help take on the ones who have been there captors, their overlords, there ruthless and evil dictators for the entire almost 60 years. More brainless stupidity is hard to imagine, and the lies and deception associated with the whole sad situation.

Pretty hard to admit you are a fool when your head and your rear, have been pumped so full of BS you can't even see straight.

The Arabs bugged out of Israel with the promise of returning to a Judenrein land.

This headline (Jimmy Carter is a Liar) has to end up in James Taranto's best of the web under his "bottom stories of the day." This is a story that could have been written on any day for the past 32 years and nobody should have been surprised.

To borrow a phrase I think I heard on Chris Matthews' show (the last time I watched was probably 2 years ago): "tell me something I don't know!"

"every Jew in Hebron was slaughtered by Arabs?"

67 were killed. The rest were driven out.

Didn't Dr. Baruch Goldstein slaughter every Muslim in Hebron in 1994?

So true, and they failed to have a fall back plan if the Arab nations didn’t come through as promised? There are Arabs as part of the Israeli government now, there were a few who didn’t leave, is their voice heard? History points out the fallacy of putting all the eggs in one basket.

No one knows what excuse they would have had other than hatred of the Jews if they had stayed under Israel. Certainly occupation might not have been one of their talking points, but then again, who knows. maybe destiny is leading them to the ultimate showdown regardless.

"This is a story that could have been written on any day for the past 32 years and nobody should have been surprised."

I agree. So why was it only written after Carter came out with a book critical of Israel?

I think I answered my own question.

The Real Significance of Baruch Goldstein

written by
Israel Shahak and Norton Mezvinsky

The story of the massacre committed by Baruch Goldstein in the Patriarchs’ Cave in Hebron on February 25, 1994, is well known. Goldstein entered the Muslim prayer hall and shot worshippers mostly in their backs, killing 29, including children, and wounding many more. In this chapter we shall not describe that massacre; rather we shall focus upon Goldstein’s career prior to the massacre and upon the reactions of the Israeli government and fundamentalist Jews to the massacre a short time after it occurred. This should provide a vivid illustration of Jewish fundamentalism. We shall extend our discussion of some details until the summer of 1998.

One important background fact about Goldstein exemplifies the influence of Jewish fundamentalism in Israel: long before the massacre, Goldstein as an army physician repeatedly breached army discipline by refusing to treat Arabs, even those serving in the Israeli army. He was not punished, either while in active or reserve service, for his refusal because of intervention in his favor. Political commentators discussed this story in the Hebrew press even though not a single Israeli politician referred to it. This story deserves detailed exploration in our analysis of Jewish fundamentalism.

In his March 1, 1994, Yediot Ahronot article, Arych Kizel, a regular Davar correspondent, wrote that Goldstein, shortly after immigrating to Israel and as a conscript assigned to an artillery battalion in Lebanon as a doctor, refused to treat Gentiles. According to Kizel, Goldstein, after refusing to treat a wounded Arab, declared: “I am not willing to treat any non-Jew. I recognize as legitimate only two [religious] authorities: Maimonides and Kahane.” Kizel further reported:

A very long read.

67 were killed. The rest were driven out.

You're right. The Arabs deserve credit for not being able to kill everyone, since some of the Jews were able to escape when the warning was raised. It was OK then.

Didn't Dr. Baruch Goldstein slaughter every Muslim in Hebron in 1994?

That's a good point: a lone maniac killing people is the same as the leaders of the local community organizing a pogrom that has the broad approval of the entire community.

Wow. When you’re too far left for Dershowitz, you’re over in Lenin territory.

It isn't being "Left" that gets Dershovelshitz in an uproar.

It's being Anti-Jewish.

Dershuffletwitz is always ready to throw the "race card" and the "Anti-Semite card" whenever he wants to trash an opponent.

Betcha can't guess what member of OJ's Dream Team thought up the race card ploy.

He’s been a liar for many many years.

Remember the garment bag he used to sling over his shoulder and carry off the plane just to prove what a regular guy he was?

Empty
