Man who fed puppy to boa gets 90 days
Arizona man could have been sentenced to up to a year on cruelty charge

PHOENIX - A man who coated a 3-week-old puppy in cooking oil and then fed it to his pet boa constrictor was sentenced Thursday to 90 days in jail and two years probation, prosecutors said.
Joseph Beadle, 40, pleaded guilty to an animal cruelty charge in March. He has served 51 days of his jail sentence while the case was pending.
Beadle, of Glendale, faced up to a year in jail on the charge.
Police reports said Beadle fed the mixed-breed puppy to the 8-foot-long snake last June as two 15-year-old boys watched. He poured the cooking oil on the dog so it would be easier for the snake to swallow.
Investigators seized his snake after finding it was the victim of neglect.
"The County Attorneys Office has made prosecuting animal-cruelty cases a high priority," Maricopa County Attorney Andrew Thomas said in a statement. "Experience and empirical evidence have shown that people who commit cruelty to animals are more likely to commit crimes against people."

When you try to explain everything by "evolved" you end up with a mell of a hess. Your wife only loves you because she evolved to want sex. Your mother only loves you because she evolved to pass on her genes. Etc.
Anyhow, this is not true of my cats. Their food and water is replenished whether they show up and cuddle or not. But they do.
I strongly recommend you take a class or read a book to learn the proper use of quotation marks. You sure did not see the word used in my post. And the comments about wife and mother do not even make sense. They are humans after all. Big differance there. My own cat, Abby (Abegon the Despoiler) will come if a merely pick up and shake the container of dry food, even if his food dish is full. Sort of Pavlovian that way. Hey, I like him, but he is a pet. If he comes down with something I would certainly not put him on chemo, life support, or shell out bread for a transplant. For a family member, yes, for a pet, no way. But as long as he continues to kill pidgeons and moles, he is earning his keep.
Yes it is.
And I am amazed at the other comments on this thread that viewed it with indifference or were upset but stated that the man should not do jail time.
No one should be allowed to own an animal that feeds on other animals.
And showing the other cultures that feed on dogs and cats only points out the stark contrast between our Christian Western culture and their pagan, decadent one.
That would exlude kittens and puppies as pets. They eat meat. Sure it arrives in the house in a can, but it was alive once.
But if he partially aborted a 9 month old fetus, and sucked its brains out to finish the process he would be a hero.
“Should feed him to boa.”
Sounds good to me.
True...
Even more reason to keep holding dogs in high regard.
If the cultists within Islam detest dogs, then that is all the more reason for Western Civilization to treat dogs as “man’s best friend.”
A great example of this is the work that Pups for Peace does. P4P train dogs to detect explosives and then deploy the dogs to Israel (and now also in California) to perform counter-terrorism operations.
Check out P4P at: http://www.pupsforpeace.org/
While I can understand many of the points being made on this posting about dogs being private property the fact remains that a “cute little bunny” or a hamster or rats or mice do not have the same relationaship to man as does the dog.
Due to man’s domestication of dogs, dogs have a natural affinity for people. IHO, this should place dogs at a higher level of worthiness than some rodent or snake.
Dogs are regularly used to rescue and save human lives during earthquakes, anti-terror searches, police and fire, etc.
It’s just too bad that this creep didn’t donate the pup to a group like Pups for Peace.

Instead of being turned into snake dung, this puppy could have been trained to save lives by sniffing out explosives.
I was at Petco one day watching the mice frolic in their case. There was a woman standing next to me and I said “aren’t they cute”. She agreed and then I said “can you understand how people can buy them to feed their snakes?” There was a muffled response from her and later I saw her getting a mouse while trying to hide it from me. Sick b*tch!
Thank you Dogs and puppies are above rats and chickens, dogs were bread to be the companion of man and have a special relation ship with him, ( at least in civilized countries). SOB should be horsewhipped to death and the dammed snake made into luggage
Visited Midwest Reptile in Ft. Wayne years ago. In one room the old lady had a 15-foot boa. She was feeding him rabbits and chickens.
Of course. And we all make judgments about everyone we meet based upon their behavioral quirks as viewed from our own perspective. It is when these premonitional judgments take shape in our legal code that my alarms go off. That’s the point I’m trying to make. Once codified the laws become tools selectively used for persecution of individuals or groups not currently in sink with those holding power. I detest such laws.
I suppose that you could say the same thing about people who have "outdoor cats."
After all, cats who spend time outdoors do what cats do... They kill other animals. Because they're predators. We don't always think of them like that, but that's a simple fact of life.
While I have no interest in having a snake as a "pet," I do find them to be fascinating creatures, and when I was young, I actually thought of becoming a herpatologist. I've also got a number of friends who do have snakes for pets, and they're not sick individuals. And they don't particularly enjoy watching their snakes eat, any more than a cat owner enjoys watching their cat eat a bird or mouse. But they do realize that they need to feed them, and many snakes will not eat dead animals, so the often do have to be fed live prey.

Some of the replies in this thread just surprised me. How anyone could defend feeding man’s best friend (who was not intended to be fed to snakes like rodents) to a snake, baffles me. Man’s best friend is a companion, leads the blind, sniffs out drugs and explosives, rescues people, detects seizures, and visits the sick and elderly. This guy deserved 90 days in jail and more.
“No one should be allowed to own an animal that feeds on other animals.”
Then cats should be illegal. My daughter’s cat is always killing something and leaving its remain on our porch. I know if that wild animal was big enough she’d eat me too, but only after toying with me for a long time while I was injured and near death, like she does with all the birds and mice and chipmunks and whatever else she find to kill.
I realize that some people don’t go to jail as long for hurting people, but I think they should go to jail longer for hurting people. There are some people that deserve much longer in jail than they recieve. Anyway, I believe unnecessary cruelty towards animals is wrong, may it be the animals we eat, small animals, dogs/cats, and so on. There is a strong relationship between people who abuse animals eventually moving onto hurting people. If putting them in jail can lead to them no longer abusing animals and in turn prevent them from moving onto different sorts of victims, then I think it should be done.
I know different cultures deem different animals worthy of protection. Western Culture happens to deem dogs and cats worthy of protection, and the dog has been a great help via rescue, the blind, those with seizures, bringing comfort to the ill, and even sniffing out bombs and drugs. Vets and pet stores would never recommend feeding a dog or cat to a snake. They would recommend feeding an animal of the rodent variety to a snake. Sure, a snake will eat anything, but it doesn’t mean it should be given everything.
That’s horrible as far as the chickens. I have heard of farms that treat them very humanely until their death and feed them natural grains as opposed to steroids. I don’t eat veal because it is a baby cow, and the idea of eating a baby cow makes me sick.
