A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 200,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest! We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.
Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.
SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown. I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

No Bragging Rights
READ: Ephesians 1:3-12
He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him. Ephesians 1:4
My dad was the most important person in my world when I was a boy. He was a respected pastor, a good preacher, and a kind and gentle leader. His gifts were recognized by several boards on which he served. Wheaton College rewarded his service to Christ with an honorary doctorate. People often said, Oh, youre Joe Stowells son or introduced me as the son of Dr. Stowell. I was proud of my dad and was so honored to be his son that, for years, being known as his child was my source of significance.
Thats but a glimpse of what it means to be satisfied with the significance that comes from our position as a child of the King. Because of Gods great love for us, He adopted us as His sons and daughters (Eph. 1:5). There is no greater honor. No material possession, fame, power, or position can compare. When we embrace this reality, we are set free from the temptation to manufacture and manipulate our own significance.
Those who are in Christ have significance in Him. We can rejoice because we are called by His name. He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world (v.4). When we belong to the King of kings, we need no other bragging rights!
We magnify our Father God
With songs of thoughtful praise;
As grateful children we confess
How perfect are His ways. Ball
Children of the king find their significance in Christ.

I'm late again ..... :(
Two brooms were hanging in the closet and after a while they got to know each other so well, they decided to get married.
One broom was, of course, the bride broom, the other the groom broom.
The bride broom looked very beautiful in her white dress. The groom broom was handsome and suave in his tuxedo. The wedding was lovely.
After the wedding, at the wedding dinner, the bride-broom leaned over and said to the groom-broom, "I think I am going to have a little whisk broom!!!"
"IMPOSSIBLE !!" said the groom broom.
(Are you ready for this? Brace yourself; this is going to hurt.)
"WE HAVEN'T EVEN SWEPT TOGETHER!"
All together now ..... GROAN.
Sounds to me like she's been "sweeping" around!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Amy good to see you.
Last weekend when I was in Ashford shopping when I was walking past the parish church I noticed their was a wedding going on.
There was a stretched limo outside and soon after I walked passed the church I held the bells chiming.
Here are 2 photos I took on the path that goes round the church yard

Nice to see you today, NnB. I come by so seldom, I’m never sure who I will run into.
I should get some poems together and post one or two every day. Maybe a little Poetry and Potpourri at the Finest. :)

The Plan
My mailbox is being flooded with mail concerning gas prices and illegal immigrants. To boycott oil companies or not; to provide amnesty to illegal immigrants or not, etc.
Since I have become jaded to the various solutions proposed by the Republicans, Democrats, Sierra Club, ACLU, etc.
I have elected to solve the problems as they affect me. It solves both my gas and illegal immigrant problems.
I have hired illegal immigrants to push my car. They’re plentiful and cheaper than buying gas. Then I pay them in Pesos so they have to go home to spend it.
I love it when a plan comes together.
A not so PC joke ..... sorry.
