Thank you for posting, Mojo.
Amom, sincere condolences to you. Tonk was an amazing person who affected everyone with whom he came in contact here on FR, and I’m sure in person as well. Blessings to all who mourn his passing.

Mr. Tonkin was a TRUE HERO in EVERY sense of that word. He was a PATRIOT who sacrificed for his country and fought valiently for it, and for that we, as Americans, will be eternally grateful.
I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of this wonderful freeper, who will be sorely missed.
Tonkin, we love you and God bless you, my friend.

Good morning everyone:
We would like to thank everyone for sharing their condolences, love, thoughts, and prayers with his family. It means a great deal to them.
We understand that many of you would like to send something to the family. We ask that you wait until information can be provided. Due to time constraint, I am unable to answer all FReepmails and emails regarding funeral services and arrangements. When his family provides that information with permission to post, we will share it. For those that were surprised that he was ill, here is the original prayer thread that he requested. Click here .
For Mr. Tonkin's friends 'near and far', you haven't been forgotten.
Thank you to HiJinx, Brad's Gramma, StarCMC, sit-rep, trussell, and pinz-n-needlez for helping to ensure his family has those messages.

I’ve had the privilege over the years of talking with Tonkin Gulf many times. Sometimes we agreed, sometimes not. But always it was with grace, civility, and as many facts as he and I could muster. He will be missed, greatly, by this community. And we thank his family for lending him to us, all this time.

This is sad news, indeed. May his soul — and the souls of all the faithful departed — rest in peace.

I have been corresponding with the Coast Guard Portland on another matter and let them know Tuesday p.m. of Brian’s passing. I received a reply thanking me for letting them know and that, with his Coos Bay area work for many years, he was sure to be recognized for his Auxiliary service at the upcoming Southern Area Conference.

God bless you Tonk.
Tonk was one of the first FReeper to welcome me here. This may have already been addressed on this thread, but I hope that he did learn about the accommodation that was awarded to him by the Coast Guard.
