I heard the show, but missed the type of hummer. Did anyone catch if it was the H1,H2 or H3?
Here’s the original CNW “Dust To Dust” study:

True, but maybe the relevant fact is that he isn't going to buy another Cherokee. So that if more people do that the mix of cars on the road is going to change over time.
I can understand Rush's desire to deflate those who pride themselves on buying hybrids, but someone could apply the same argument to just about any attempt to "do good."
People who think they're "doing good" can be annoying and they aren't always right, but they aren't always wrong either.
But of course there's no show if you always "on the one hand ... on the other ..."
“Prius de magic hybrid drove around DC.”
Calling Charles Henrickson and Doug from Upland!
Thank you....one of my favorite S.P. episodes....
I’m wondering how many different engines and transmissions that 300K Hummer will have had in it by the time it’s ready for the crusher. It’s pretty ludicrous to think that a GM product will last 3 times as long as a Toyota. I suppose that the Buy American/UAW crowd could make the argument that the Hummer is of similar build quality and will last just as long as a Toyota, but three times as long? Give me a break.
Isn’t a “High Bird” like a “High Five minus Four”?
Just an aside abourt hummers. In 97-98 the US Army built Hybrid Humvees (experimental). The reports gave about twice the performance and 50% better fuel economy for these Hybrids.
Power was a 2.5L Dettroit Diesel (I was not aware there was such an engine) In addition it could travel 20 miles on Batt Power. They used Lead-Acid Batts and later Ni.
It seemed so neat that I wanted to build one but couldn’t find all components.

And how much they are going to cough up.
I have a solar clothes dryer that uses no electricity at all! I'll sell you one for $100. It will save you more than that in electric bills alone. It's also made of renewable resources that produce no toxic byproducts.
I think the engineering dictates that a Hummer will last 3x longer than a Prius. No comparison was made to other Toyota products.
I'm trying to figure out how to mount one of these and a battery string in the back of my Algore-250 Pickup. (:^D)
If the hypothesis is correct, i.e., Prius cost more than Hummers and cause more harm to the environment, why should the mix change?

Not really. Hybrids just have an expensive battery pack that should last 100,000 miles. Since they haven’t been on the road for many years though we don’t really know for sure yet whether the typical hybrid batteries will go for 75,000 or 750,000 miles before needing replacement. Given the resale value of Toyota’s however, I seriously doubt that many will be bound for the crusher if the batteries give out at 100,000. Just like it’s unlikely that a Hummer will be scrapped if it needs a new transmission.
I would think Limbaugh would be smart enough to figure out that NASA probably wouldn’t be doing test in other countries.
You could be right, but it is my belief that tiny cars aren’t engineered to go more than 100k; the parts wear out because they can’t take a beating like a larger vehicle can.
My Honda Pilot will just be broken in at 100k.
Large # of electrons moving through not enough resistance. Most likely corrosion on some connections or a short.
