From the poll taken between May 21-24, results showed that 68 percent of Republicans tended to favor the idea that humans were created in their present form about 10,000 years ago, while only 30 percent believe in the theory that humans originated from simple organisms. Independents and Democrats, on the other hand, were more likely to believe in evolution - 61 and 57 percent, respectively.
The results come after recent presidential primary debates touched on the subject of evolution and whether Republican candidates believed in the theory.
On May 3, at a GOP debate in California, three candidates Sam Brownback, Mike Huckabee, and Tom Tancredo raised their hand to show they do not believe in evolution when asked

This is such BS.
If I had my druthers, I would ask a three-choice question: "Do you believe that Darwinian mechanics are responsible for (1) All of the biodiversity of life on this planet, (2) Some but not all of the biodiversity of life on this planet, or (3) None of the biodiversity of life on this planet."
I'd be worried if too many people answered (1) or (3). It seems pretty clear that some biodiversity is the result of Darwinian mechanics (not only are effects observable in some short-lived species, but today's level of biodiversity is greater than what could have existed immediately after the Great Flood). While I don't subscribe to the notion that the complexity of life implies that it was created by a deity, I would consider it unlikely that Darwinian mechanics could have run for billions of years without being affected by some pretty major events we know nothing about.
Why not?
This is called a 'push poll' for a reason.
I don't believe Republicans are that stupid. But the D's sure want us to look that way.
It’s difficult to make the case of the GOP as the party of the future when it seems many people want to make it a party of a Revival Tent in the 1880s.
This is “...a poll...” quoted in a Christian paper, with no background data supplied. In other words, a bunch of meaningless numbers created with the end result already in mind.
SOMETHING happened 6-10 thousand years ago that changed everything. You may as well say the world we live in began 6000 years ago.
I really don’t care if the guy selling me shoes believes in the tooth fairy. I do hope he votes Republican, though.
SOMETHING happened last Thursday that changed everything (offered with as much support as your statement). You may as well say the world we live in began last Thursday.
Google: Gallup evolution
You will find a lot of detail.
I also believe the Earth is flat, and the sun revolves around it.
Something happened several thousand years ago that changed the course of the entire world. Jesus (God incarnate) died on the cross for our sins. His death, resurrection and ascension assured eternity with Him for believers. This event has had an overwhelming influence on the history of mankind over the intervening years.
And what happened last Thursday?
Both parties have their flat-earthers. For us it’s young earth creationists. For them it’s socialists. meh.
Although I didn't see the debate, this was obvouisly a question meant to entrap Republicans.
Now, we have a Poll associated with the Debate question.
Ask a leading question & then poll the Republicans to see how many are really Neanderthals!
The Bible teaches in Genesis 1:1 (with Hebrew 11:3) that God created everything out of nothing, "ex- nihilo" (a creation from nothing).
Did God create the Big Bang?
I can't imagine who else could.
I believe that evolution is happening daily. I believe in the Creation & also see no problem that species have evolved.
God created all & it is obvious that we have animal fossils that are millions of years old.
This does not deny Creation. If God created everything, then you must assume that God created the universe billions of years ago.
Evolution is just part of God's creation. I have never had a problem with Evolution except when the "believers" of Evolution have denied the existance of God.
That happened SEVERAL thousand years ago?
