Looking for info:

Does one need to be a Resident of Iowa to vote in the Iowa Straw Poll? Not the primary - the Straw Poll?

Absolutely.

I went in 2000 - just to watch the speeches and collect political memorabilia.

They gave me a non-resident ticket. Well, actually I paid for a non-resident ticket.

I’m guessing they check ID’s before they give you a ballot.

Didn’t the Dems bus people in during the straw poll in 2004 to vote? This is the straw poll not the caucus.

During the Iowa Caucus you have to be an Iowa resident, but do you during the Straw Poll because then you buy a ballot? I know in any straw polls I have attended, you don’t even have to be eligible to vote just have the money for the ballot.

I did find the Democrats bused people in from neighboring states (Dean) but I cannot find the rules and have been looking.

Not if you’re a democrat........

Um, the Iowa Straw Poll is a Republican event. No dems allowed. You might want to re-read your tagline :)

There is no Democrat Straw Poll? Does that mean Democrats can invade the poll and skew the numbers, like in some of our Southern States? It happens when there is no opposition.......

Correct.

It doesn't work that way, probably because it's too expensive to be worth it for the dims. The event is run by the Iowa Republican Party.

Do they have to show some sort of ID or voter registration to be able to vote? If not, then the Dhims can overwhelm the poll by voting for, say, Rudy over somebody they really don’t like, Fred, for instance...............

I was there last time, and no such thing was going on. It just doesn't really happen. The main scandal last time was whether Steve Forbes was busing people in from out of state. The problem is, in order to make any kind of dent in the vote, you have to spend serious money, and there's no motivation to do so unless you actually benefit. It's not like the Donks think that Rudy's their easiest opponent either.

I'll tell you what - watch to see how Ron Paul does, and that will tell you how much tampering is going on.

Hilary! wasn't running then, Dean wasn't head of the DNC, and MoveOn.Org was an unknown. Don't ever underestimate them, ever...........
