NBC Universal will devote a whopping 75 hours of air time to showing Al Gores "Live Earth: The Concerts for a Climate in Crisis.
And if Gore decides to run for president in 2008, the event would be "one of the largest ever, if not the largest, in-kind contributions to a presidential campaign, according to The Media Research Centers NewsBusters.org, a Web site dedicated to combating liberal media bias.
In addition to devoting all of NBC-TVs Saturday, July 7 prime time to the concerts, CNBC will carry seven hours of coverage from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. EDT, Bravo will show the concerts around the world for 18 hours beginning at 8 a.m. EDT, and the Sundance channel and the Universal HD channel will air the concerts for 22 hours each beginning at 4 a.m.
Also, NBC Universals mun2 will run a two-hour show at 5 p.m. and Telemundo will air a one-hour special at 7 p.m. On top of all that, MSNBC will broadcast special coverage of the concert events throughout the day.
According to a press release from NBC, "this monumental music event will bring together more than 100 of todays hottest artists and two billion people to focus the worlds attention on this global climate crisis and what can be done to reduce global warming.
The concerts will take place in New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, Istanbul, Johannesburg and Rio de Janeiro. The musical acts participating include Madonna, Sheryl Crow, Kelly Clarkson, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Melissa Etheridge, Bon Jovi, Kanye West, John Mayer, Black Eyed Peas and Duran Duran.
The press release concludes: "Live Earth marks the beginning of a multi-year campaign led by The Alliance for Climate Protection and its Chair, former Vice President Al Gore, to move individuals, corporations and governments to take action.
Just got done watching the History Channel’s “Last Days on Earth,” a show supposedly about 7 ways the Earth (or rather mankind) could buy the big one.
The top one? Human caused global warming, of course, complete with lots of “scientists” saying the debate is over. 100% climate change hysteria.
So much for considering the History Channel to be credible about ANYTHING.
Ah well.
And how much energy will all of this consume...??
There’s not a single one of those acts I’d care to see.
Bon Jovi hasn’t done anything decent since 1986, and the rest...pfffft.
90% of them are has-beens.
BTW, what do you think will happen in 10 years or so when it comes out that this whole global warming thing is 100% bunk? After all, “global cooling” didn’t get this much press or hype, so the fallout when it proved to by just hysteria didn’t last long. Here, though, they’ve really jumped the shark on the hysteria. Think there will be reprocussions?
Well NBC has now revealed its true colors. We all knew it. If I had some G.E. stock then I would be selling it.
Guess I’ll have to listen to Sunday Night Football on the radio now.
Wonder if Sheryl Crow will be handing out single squares of toilet paper to the crowds?
The concerts will take place in New York, London, Tokyo, Shanghai, Hamburg, Istanbul, Johannesburg and Rio de Janeiro
New York, London, Paris, Munich everybody talk about pop music.
Democrats in the media can get by with blatant electioneering, while Republicans face “the Fairness Doctrine”.
And they don’t even TRY to appear impartial anymore.
Good thing no one watches NBC.
Barf! Luckily, I rarely ever watch NBC, and I will continue that way. I wouldn’t mind hearing some of the celebrity performances, but there is no way I will watch considering the cause. Don’t forget, NBC is also the same station that has an interest in giving moonbat Rosie a daytime and primetime show.
Uh oh; wonder what the advertisers and other programs are going to say. It’s hours down the toliet as far as I am concerned.
True, but they will insist, with a straight face, that they're "objective."
Are you serious? It's gonna be a 75-hour non-stop orgy of Bush-bashing.
You can most of these on Classic VH1. Surprised Bozo is not in there
Same goes for ABC and CBS.
Drudge has better news than most all the rest.
Al Gore is nuttier than a fruitcake.
I can see Crowe, Babbling Streisand, Rosie O’Donnell and Lori David standing in the port-o-pottys giving out single sheets and then trying to wash them out for the next customer.
